I’ve been decorating houses on the Sims game, on my computer since i was in 4th grade (im 23 now), and I started to realize I enjoy decorating . My friends and family always tell me I should try home decor out.

Thank you for sharing your journey to interior design. You have definitely inspired me.
I think you have great potential and I really appreciate your raw, transparent thoughts about being realistic and actually just start a project and finish it. Even if it comes out different than your initial idea, it’s okay to say hey I made a mistake. However, make sure you’re doing research and working hard to build a portfolio of all of the projects you do.
One major thing I feel like is not spoken about enough is the reality of monetary spending and learning to budget your money in a healthy way. If you have hobbies then that’s fine, however, making sure you can afford basic necessities first is a priority over changing your wallet color.

Thanks for sharing your journey. I love the thought about becoming an interior decorator, mainly for my own house.
We are building a brand new house and I’m afraid I don’t know what I’m doing when is time to pick tiles, cabinets, bathrooms finishes.
So far I think I want shiny white 24x24 tiles, white kitchen cabinets with a white/gray granite top, the only color I’m adding in the kitchen is on the island. The bathrooms are white as well. My question to you is, Do you think is too much white? This is our dream house and we will need to live with the options I make now for the rest of our life’s. Please advise!

I have a question, is there a specific reason why you decided to stop decorating other people’s homes? What did you learn during the process of designing and decorating other people’s homes?
Is content creation more profitable or did you not enjoy the experience of decorating other people’s homes?
This has helped me so much! I have always did parties and redecorating my house/organizing that everyone has always told me to do it as a career. Where I live they only offer interior design so with that I’ve been stressing on what education I would need an what certificates I would need for interior decorator!

Sadly self-taught won't let me work in this state. It requires a bachelor's degree.
Hello! Can I ask what state you live in? Interior design requires a bachelors degree, but interior decorating, as far as I am aware, does not require one.
