Man my summer camp use to play this movie everyday lmbo I was in love with Scott and Pete 😂😂😂😂 and this song always comes to my mind every once in a while
I remember watching this movies as a young boy and it helped my friends and I think that even the smallest group of friends can make the biggest changes to our neighborhood. Amoralwombat you seem to be a person who didn't grasp the movie's true intent or message so rewatch it with an open mind and heart so you might better yourself and others around you on what being a true friend means to the people in the present and the future.
thanks for posting this! I have been trying for ever to get a copy, I even emailed the composer and his agency could not locate a copy to send me! You rock.
Oh man! My sister and I would always tape this song on our tape recorder during this part of the movie. We can still sing every word of it! Hearing it now, I can hear a big Cat Stevens influence, and maybe James Taylor too. It's legitimately a good song, even being in such a silly movie (which will always have a place in my sis and I's hearts.) Now I'm reading more about Kurt Bestor and I'd like to see him perform sometime. Thanks for posting!
It could be called "pete's song" as an alternative name, but technically it's called 'dreams of a better day' which is stated on the Buttercream gang DVD as well as several websites for the movie. =)
the first time i saw this movie was over 10 years ago. was good to see it again tho i am 19. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter your age you still can learn or relearn some of the simplest things to help a friend in need . even if it would take a whole summer.
I think if people would learn from this movie they can better themselfs and those around them.. like a lost friend that just needs a hand and a place to call home.
Like what the heck does Pete say to those two guys. "How would you like to join my gang, Oh how many people are in it, well just me, If you e-mail me your resume and 2 recomendations I will get back to you as soon as possible" lol
I used to think they were so badass cause they broke bottles on train tracks, biked in front of traffic & took little girls off the see-saw...man it must feel good to be a gangster...

This movie brings me back to the summer of '94 when I was like eight.

"Dreams of a Better Day" was written by Kurt Bestor, but it's actually performed by Judd Maher. :) Just wish I could find it on mp3!
