Have you done the no product air dry? Your hair is so smooth when you don’t style it wavy. Mine hasn’t been smooth like that since it became wavy curly. (Babies and other hormone changes)
@@vpqmom my hair is so fine that it gets very "fly away" if I don't use any product. I went shorter and added layers for more volume. It's lower maintenance that way. It takes so much work to make it wavy.
I would LOVE to see what your "I just am not feeling hair today, but I need to wash it" routine! Being a work from home woman, there are days where I need to wash, but I don't necessarily need to fully style. But, as you well know, "just wash and dry" for wavy curly hair ends up looking like a total fluff ball...which means pony tail time every day! LOL

Thank you Courtney for your hard work! One brand wash day vids have been very helpful to me. I compare your results and gauge how it will work for me, and I’ve avoided buying products that would not work and have bought some that will be staples for life.
But I am also interested in multi product applications vids bc I can see what each different product brings to the table as well.
I think an air dry product free video would be really great. Sometimes I just don't want to do all the styling and plopping and scrunching and diffusing. It takes too long. But leaving it to air dry results in a frizzy birds nest. Your videos are always really helpful for me ❤ also could you do a video that shows straight away you plopping and diffusing after washing, the whole complete routine?

I enjoy the one brand wash days, but I'm glad you switched things up for this video. I myself rarely use the same brand every wash day as I'm tryingto use up what's currently in my stash. I'm always reaching for something different every wash day. I will say that sometimes I get the best results by mixing brands, as long as the products play well when mixed together.
I used to do mousse gel mousse with the Pantene curl mousse and Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee. This worked so well for my hair…until they changed both formulas. I have been searching for a good replacement for over a year now. I recently heard you mention the Briogeo Curl Charisma gel as one of your new favorites. I tried it and love it so much. My hair is happy again! Thank you so much! I am tempted to try this combo as well since I have loved a mousse under a gel in the past.

I agree! Kinky Curly Custard gives me great definition when I use it under my Biosilk rock hard gelee gel and gives me the best wash days! And either Blueberry Bliss as my leave in or Amika Curl Corps. cream under those two is my perfect trifecta for my fine 2C/3A hair :) I feel like wavy hair needs that extra step of a curl enhancer and a hard hold gel to keep it curled up so it doesn't fall out!

I have somewhat similar wavy-curly hair, and I find that your advices work the best for me so far. I’ve got tighter curls by the sides of my face, some nice waves on the top of my head and very relaxed waves on the back, this is why I stick with you, because I can see that you also have very different curl patterns on your head.
This spring I’ve introduced curl cream into my routine and it did wonders, which made me think what if it could be better? I’ve just bought gel and leave-in conditioner last week and have started to experiment with the combination of these products. It is hard to guess the right amount of product. I’ve only done it two times and the results are not consistent, last time I got very nice curls, but this time they came out more loose and relaxed in comparison. It discouraged me a little bit, because I genuinely don’t know what I did differently.

*JVN + Aussie Mousse Leave In* . I purchased JVN products in Feb, 2023. My hair (fine, low density) prefers the hemi-squalene over silicone. I have used the Pureology Leave In in various amounts but can never get a good re-fresh when I use it. I like the Aussie Mousse + Leave in. I can do a day 2,3 re-fresh with distilled water and a bit more product. I also really love the JVN Air dry cream.

I’ve been following your methods for about 4 months now. I’m in love with my hair again. I’m losing less hair from it being overall so much healthier! My hairs been such a huge part of my confidence my entire life, and losing it, it looking dry and limp, it was a massive blow. I went to a hair dresser who had no idea how to make my hair more curly. I left crying because all I wanted was my bounce and waves back. I thought they were never gonna return.
You may have added 3 hours to my hair care routine, but I’m never going back. I’m proud of my hair again, and that’s so exciting! Thank you!!!
Awe glad this has been helping you! As you go, the routine tends to shorten in time! I do air dry a lot as well. I don't get the definition and a little wave but it's a nice way to cut down the time and give my hair a break from styling!

I do my washing upside right because i will pass out if I do the whole routine upside down. Also if i put that many products on my fine hair, the waves fall apart within an hour 😂

Looks very nice! I do my hair on a day where I can leave the cast in. I then sleep with it in a top bun and in the morning, oh my word... can we say AMAZING hair day! I never scrunch the crunch, I clap it out so my curls stay in tact better. If I scrunch, it breaks the curls up too much. I don't wash my hair upside down but I use a silicone scrubber and double cleanse so my scalp and hair are very clean. I never plop because it removes way too much product and I have so much frizz and have to apply more product afterward. My hair seems to like to have products applied to damp hair vs soaking hair.
You really did get great results with this routine! How often do you clarify? I have fine hair as well and I feel I get a lot of build up. I was doing it once a week or every other week
I took your advice and used the mark anthony leave in foam instead of leave in conditioner today than used my curl cream and gel and omg! My curls look amazing! So much definition, total game changer!!

Awesome! I will try that combo. I find the Kinky Curly Custard is hit and miss for hold. I also bought the Briogio gel and Shea Moisture Milk Gel based on your one brand wash series. I have such similar hair but it's 2a, coarse, low porosity, and maybe 30% thicker. I also cut it just below my shoulder to see if that helps with heaviness. I totally avoid protein, but I found the Briogio gel gave me brilliant results too. I am wondering if the milk gel could also be used as your curl enhancer? And on top of that, why not use some hair spray too? Also wondering why you went with the Kinky Custard over Curl Smith's? Thanks for these helpful videos and bless you!

I’d love to see exactly how you plop and diffused for this one.
She did show previously that she now "micro plops" (blots) & hammock diffuses due to her short hair but I don't get how she doesn't have a big dent across the lengths. So, I'd like to see if she's made any changes but I'm sure she'll tell us if she does.
What do you think about the Ouidad Stronger hold gel? I feel my hair is closest to your type, and I've been holding 8ut on that gel because I'm afraid it won't be strong enough. ❤❤

Please do a video on product free drying. If I air dry product free, my hair still curls, but there is no clumping. Every hair is separated and it's a big frizzy mess. I can only get 1 day and I have to completely wet my hair and style again.

I think my hair is closer to your sister’s hair. I am low porosity, but i don’t dye my hair, i am salt and pepper. I am is medium coarse and density…and my curl pattern is exactly btw 2c/3a sometimes in a beautiful way and other times in a deeply confusing and frustrating way. Just talk to me and tell me what you need hair 😂
I've been using 5 products as well (sometimes 6 😬). The shampoo and conditioner change but I almost always use the AG Recoil cream, then the Treluxe Hi! Definition gel, and then the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control gel. Sometimes I'll throw in the Treluxe Reflex serum before the AG Recoil or sometimes I'll use it in place of the Recoil. But I never skip Hi! Def gel or Ouidad gel. Hi! Def is the custardy texture that is similar to the Kinky Curly custard that really helps clump and define my curls while being very nourishing. And don't let the thinnish, more liquidy texture of the Ouidad gel fool you in to thinking it won't give much hold. It gives me fantastic hold and excellent protection from the South Central Texas humidity.

Two questions. The shampoo you are using here is a clarifying shampoo so how often would you use it? Weekly? I only need to wash my hair weekly
Second question. Do you use a heat protectant when you diffuse? And if yes, which heat protectant do you like?
I’ve been looking for a minimalistic approach to avoid the time consuming product routine and saturated look and feel, of which I am not a fan anymore. Lately I shampoo and condition and then let air dry. Then I dampen my hands and use that small amount of water to dampen my hair. I apply a pea sized amount of styling cream and a little water to emulsify it, then apply. I get more volume, which I like, reduced frizz, and no crunch or product saturated look. I do get less curl, but I’m happy with the trade off. I get 2-3 days of presentable hair this way. My 2B-3a hair is fine and about shoulder length with some layers.
Air dry product free! Yes! This busy mom does it often, and I just deal with the light socket. It would be nice to have a third option. Lol

@SwavyCurlyCourtney bahaha!!! That's one way to put it. Honestly, it's mostly just quick and lazy. My 2-year-old son doesn't sleep easily at night, and during the day, he's into everything. I don't take the time for much anymore unless it's a necessity. Looking decent doesn't usually make the list. I'm tired all the time. Having waves instead of tight curls makes it easier just because I'm not a cone head, but you can definitely tell I do nothing with it. I've noticed that adding a bit more leave-in conditioner seems to protect the ends a bit better, but I'm interested in your process. I know your schedule is busier than mine (you have another kid [congrats on your beautiful miracle]), and your weather is not exactly conducive for curly hair, so I'm sure you've learned a few additional things. 🤣 I'm just thankful you believe us Mama's have to stick together... and that I'm not on the dating field. 🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️

I tried it this morning! My hair was so light weight & dried much quicker. But I should of used more gel. I will do next wash day which will be Sunday. I think I'm going to love this technique especially in the cold UK winter!

Every time I've tried washing my hair upside down it gets INSANELY tangled and matted 😣😣. Any suggestions? Medium length, fine, S wavy.

So I do put my hair up in a very loose pineapple when I sleep in the cast with a silk scrunchie and it works great!

Bring back the tsp please! I beg of you! At least for the 1st time you use a product or adjust the amount. Then if you use the product again instead of recording yourself measuring it which will slow you down hopefully you'll tell us the amount you use. I adjust the amount I try based on the amount you use and need this guidance. Even though you show the amount of the Briogio gel on your hand I still can't properly estimate it. My concern with one-brand wash day is that we see how the products perform on YOUR hair. That says nothing about how they will work for any of the rest of us.

I enjoy seeing Courtney try the various products. But I come to this knowing that YMMV. So many things can impact our results including weather hormones stress etc. I think the only way to address this is to reinforce that personal experimentation is a necessary component of the wavy/curly life, for better or for worse. Regardless, I am grateful for these videos and how they introduce products and techniques that I would otherwise not be aware of. Ty Courtney!
Although I did get tired of the one brand wash days, I do think they are incredibly beneficial because it gives you an IDEA on how it may (or may not) work on your own hair. She's very good at explaining how the products feel as she's using them, so that is very, very helpful. Only you know what your hair does or doesn't like. To be fair, she does tell you what her hair type is, so that needs to be taken into consideration when watching her. For instance, my hair absolutely detests protein, but her hair loves it, so we definitely won't get the same results. She tries REALLY hard to help us, which is why I watch her ❤
