I used aveda almost exclusively, but I've sadly been priced out of most products. I understand they spend money on research, but the products are too expensive IMO
Same. I loved how their products behaved on my thin but dense curly hair. But there's no way on Earth I could justify to myself paying 163€ for this line or 40€ per product, no matter how great they are, and how amazing they make my hair look. Or even 125€ for the line on sale. Monthly groceries for one person are cca 200€ in Germany. There's just no way I could be spending that much on cosmetics in this economy. Most of my income goes for rent and gas 😅
Same on me. Used the Be curly-products lots and lots of years. Always thought it is already expensive but worth the prize. Now when I saw the new products and the new prizes I decided to stop to use Aveda. Will use the old products until they are empty and then change to other products.
Same! Love love love Nutriplenish for my curly red-headed daughters but we just cannot justify the prices 😩
The good thing is with most of these products, you can use less. Aveda goes farther than other brands, for me anyway. Especially shampoo. One bottle lasts a long time. I agree they could be priced more reasonably tho.

The new formula is SO good.. both me(high density, coarse hair) and my daughter (high density, fine hair) use it. In fact, she STOLE it out of my bathroom and I had to use something else my last wash day!!! I really love this stuff so much, I am seriously considering getting rid of everything else, it works THAT well. It's been disgustingly humid month so far, here in NY and this stuff has kept my hair frizz free for DAYS.. I can easily get 4 days without having to even do a refresh. And that includes days out by the pool, physical therapy appointments as well as sleeping some nights without a bonnet because it's just too darn hot.. This stuff is magic.
Whoa! What a testiment to how well it works! That is a serious load of humidity and agitation your hair would have gone through. I think you may have just convinced me even more than Mell did!
@@shankornfeld1541 It truly has worked better than anything else I have tried. I think it's the curl primer for me, that is key. I use that with other products and while it's not as frizz free as it is when I use the whole line, it keeps the frizz way down, in comparision to when I use my other products without it.

I’ve been using this line now for the past month and I’ve been loving it! While the gel is initially a hard hold, your hair won’t stay crunchy.
I have been using the original Be Curly Curl Enhancer since ‘05 …a real OG. lol I was so excited because it was thee first product that allowed me to wear my hair down curly. I was reluctant to try the new formula.
I’ve never tried Aveda before, I’m intrigued 😍 Also hair be looking slay Mell - so much volume! 😍

I got one of the advanced creams with points while I reupped my conditioner the other day! So excited to try it especially now that you’ve done the video!!!
I bought the collection once I heard it was available, from you in fact, thank you, take my money.. it works so well after adjusting to the formula. The fragrance always makes me gravitate to Aveda, then their mission and the way they deliver.
Finally, I use the leave in in this line when i need day one results, not when i want long lasting results, doesnt even work with my hardest gel, but I actually love a product that I can count on for same day hair wash and hair volume

Thank goodness! I was starting to run low on products and when I went to the store and saw it was reformulated I got nervous since I’ve been using be curly for 4 years now. I haven’t used the new one yet since my old bottles shockingly haven’t run out but this gave me some peace of mind for when the time comes
Happy Thursday Mel! I got the whole new be curly advanced line. I love the primer and gel, could have passed on the rest. The shampoo made my scalp itch. I have fine/thin coils and they also felt weighed down.

I love the shampoo, conditioner and the cream. I skipped the primer because their website didn't say it had heat protection. I grabbed the Brilliant. Glad to know it does though!

Hi Mel. I received an email from Aveda about this new product line. I didn’t know the original was discontinued 😮 just like their Scalp Benefits shampoo which I loved and so did my son. So what was my first thought? I have to see if Mel did a review of these products. Voila! There you were, all gorgeous in green. Ty for this video. As always I learned so much AND got some great pro tips for my very fine, fragile curly hair. 💚💚💚

If you look in Verb’s website, the shampoo & Conditioner say “new and improved”, and the gel foam says “new look”. BUT, I just ordered and rec’d 2 bottles of the “new look” foam gel, compared the ingredients on my old foam gel bottle, and there ARE some ingredient changes. 🫣 I prefer the old transparent bottle, the new bottle is opaque, so you can not see how much product is left in the bottle. If you read the FAQ listed for the foam gel, there’s quite a few questions asking about the new formula. VERB says it gives better curl definition. We will see! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I used the new verb foaming gel this morning and am loving the definition and volume of my curls today…less frizz than when I use the new Aveda line for me too.

That is what I was wondering while watching this video. I just looked at Mel's Verb products today. I don't understand why Mel endorses other products so highly when she has her own line. Is Aveda a better product than her own? I'm ready to invest in the best curly hair product like but I'm confused on which brand to go with.

The fragrance has some of the most well-known allergens. I am not able to use it because of the bergamot. I wish it was fragrance free.

Hi Mel great video as always!😊 I just want to ask your opinion on something. When styling with mousse and gel, which one is better to apply first? I've seen many different opinions, some say to first apply mousse and lock everything in with the gel. Others say mousse should be last , otherwise you kind of take away it's volumizing effects when you apply the gel on top..🤦♀️ So I'm confused.. what is your opinion on this as a curly hair specialist, please help!!😊😀

Also, I know you guys have done videos before, but can you simplify and tell us what you do for skin care? I’m pretty sure you are aging in reverse and I know you’re matching the aesthetic and all that for the product but I love that you’re wearing all the green totes goes with your eyes and skin and hair and, I love the little green like is it eyeshadow or eyeliner on your eyes and where did you get that? I wouldn’t say my favorite color but as I get more and more into who I am myself, my real me the soul of who I am I definitely am all about green. I’m definitely wearing it because it’s good with my hazel eyes. It brings out the green in them actually pink tends to bring out the green and my hazel eyes.

I’m transitioning my naturally 3b curls from 9 years of keratin treatment (1+ year in, so painful but close to being done with the straight bits!) I’ve been trying many different products to find the right one(s) for my hair.
I loved and used Aveda for my curls in the distant past but haven’t really used the OG Be Curly products. I’ve tried some of the new Advanced products and have gotten pretty good results but didn’t bother with the new primer since the old one did nothing for me. Then I used way too much of the gel a few days ago (NYC Metro heat & humidity has been off the charts) and it irritated my scalp. I wondered if the line maybe wasn’t for me or did I need to change up how I was using it.
And lo and behold this video dropped…I decided to try the new primer (In Mell We Trust) and did the following routine: shampoo for 1st wash, co-wash for 2nd, masque as conditioner, primer leave-in, curl cream and a light coating of the gel. And WOW, fabulous results! I’m on my 2nd day and it looks just as good as 1st (and I don’t wear a bonnet at night, I can only handle a pineapple). Thank you Mell!

I love Aveda! I took the curl quiz and it says for me to use the pink bottles although I had already bought the green bottles (oops). I have the nutriplenish leave-in and the botanical cream. I’m so confused! lol. I’m a 2B-2C high porosity, medium density. I would love your thoughts, Mel!

Not all of the line is available to buy where I am in Asia (no co-wash, coil definer gel or masque), but I just dropped $$$ on the shampoo, conditioner and curl creme. Seeing this I'm regretting not getting the primer as well. I thought it was an unnecessary product since I don't heat-style but now I know it's more like a leave-in and also for sun protection would actually be handy...

FYI, Cowash never has been supposed to be a one and done in the Curly Girl Method. Cowash to clean and rinse away, then condition to seal. If you're using a conditioner that is one suitable for using as a cowash by having enough cleaning ingredients, you can also use it as a conditioner if you don't need a heavier conditioner. I doubt you could use a product labelled "cowash" to condition as well as they tend to be designed for cleansing, not conditioning.

Maybe this is too much rn: can u work w someone on making an app or just a wensite w a virtual hair try on for diff hair styles thatre more specific than just short long bob / colours?! I wanna try diiiffff long lengths on myself - w the layers!? Like waist length but also w layers and w out and so far i havent landed any apps (let alone free) w these options. Its always either straight “wavy” or a bunch of diff short cuts not even diff STYLES just hair u know lengths and few types. Theres NO curky like irs or even mine (or midn when its healthy closer to amandas probably but my healthy curls pop & spring)

For me ut was TIGIs curls rock line. My hair LOVED it and then they discontinued/reformulated and renamed it.

The All Soft Mega? This line was perfection the way it was, but of course they had to have a "curly hair line" since they are L'oreal. They also released ABC for Curls... with less of the active ingredients. Brands are just gaslighting people now.

@@astridthefangirl Oooh!! They had curvaceous still. Here in Brazil that line is gone for sometime now. Since they rebranded the All Soft Mega with Curls, this makes sense from a business point. No need for 2 lines of Curly hair product, but curvaceous was very good.
So the primer protects against heat too? I don’t see that on the webpage for the product. Just want to clarify to see if it is something I want to try :)

Hi Mel! We don’t have similar curl textures but I really like your product reviews because of how well you break down the products but this review felt a little biased. I understand that you are partnered with this brand but just some acknowledgement/highlighting of the prices would of been nice/a little more transparent to us as the viewer
Hi can these products be used on those of us with curly short hair BUT transitioning to silver/ gray hair? Im about 70% silver and want to try these but will itcdo damage or yellow my silvers? Your response gratefully needed ! Thank you
I'd rather us not continually having stylists upsell pricey products that don't even work but would much rather those stylists focus on not damaging our hair. I am so sick of the profiteering fear mongering surrounding affordable haircare.
