    It is indeed a wonder it exists 99 1/2 years later in any condition and for it to be in running condition makes it worthy of being shown and for people to admire it.

    Many years ago i had a model PB briggs from 1921 it was missing the carb it used the same block and F head configuration as the model D motor wheel i have also seen it,s older brother the model p that used a fan driven off of the flywheel with a small flat belt i think the model P came out in either 1919 or 1920 briggs bought the rights to build the motor wheel in 1918 increased the horsepower from 1/2 horsepower to 1 horsepower the wheel is driven off the camshaft the camshaft has 4 lobes the output on the cam is 8 -1 also i do have a few obsolete briggs parts and john lauson parts

    That's the first engine that I don't wanna see on a go-cart. It's too cherry. The basket case needs a twin sister, those two could drive a go-cart really well. That'd be cool. One engine per drive wheel. You could steer it with throttle control

  • @bubblelvr1
    @bubblelvr1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Iv been looking for a model F for years but this is Briggs second design the original design would be the motor wheel which in reality was the smith motor wheel the smith motor wheel was the original company that Briggs acquired so to say the Briggs motor wheel is a smith Motor wheel that Briggs improved then Briggs made the the motor wheel stationary in 1921 but it wasn’t the model F it was the model P engine this was the first stationary multi purpose engine the model F following . Briggs decided that the model P needed better cooling the original force cooling was a little belt driven fan on both model P and F as well as the second design version of the model F called the FB which had a better oiling system getting rid of the glass oiler. the model FB also had a improved exhaust rocker as well made of cast bronze instead of stamp steel the three engines the model F Fb P got improved forced air cooling this was the first system to use a built in fan flywheel /blower housing set up. the model that used this forced cooling system was the model P in which became the PB the model FB also received this first style flywheel blower housing. this housing has a scallop on one side the purpose for this is to clear the cylinder on the model PB engine so to say the model PB is the first blower housing engine Briggs produced the model FB also used this housing as well becoming the first of the F series to use the flywheel/blower housing cooling. So you have it first Briggs the motor wheel. Second Briggs the model P . Third the model F then the improved cooling versions the PB and FB these were the first of the Briggs design series that set the standards . Then Briggs third design L head engines the model Q was the first L head design followed by the FJ and so on also note the model FI was the first overhead rocker arm engine with both intake and exhaust actuated valve engine Briggs produced
