I consider myself fortunate to have stumbled upon this set of videos. I have only had the time to view the first one but will be back for more. My grandparents had two Eclipse mowers. One with the lever starter and an older one that had a rope pull that was nothing more than a handle on one end of a rope and a knot on the other. After you got that one running you had to put the rope someplace where you could find it in the future. I seem to recall knotting it loosely over the handles. The lever starter may not be common but it was a major selling point for Eclipse, and they pointed this out in their advertising that it was exclusive to Eclipse mowers. Further, the B & S engine on my Eclipse mower is in original paint which is a teal green, so it isn't out of the question that your blue one was an original color as well.
I've recently started a rehab on an Eclipse mower manufactured in 1959 and have had no luck determining the model number of the B & S engine. If it is an online source that allows you to determine model of engine by serial number would you pass that link along to me. I am having zero luck determining what model my engine is. Really enjoying your videos.

The flush head bolt was made to either clearance a belt, less chance to catch something or someone, keep from over tightening the fastener. Where did you find the engine fella ??? As I watch this dismantling,.you mentioned a 'gun' to take them apart and concern about using that to assemble. I'm in your 'camp'. Wwe sold and serviced air impact wrenches for a number of brands of air impact wrenches, and always remember that we had to test them for 'power' i.e. torque strength,...most all manufacturers will tell you that an impact wrench is a "dismantling'
tool and not an assembly tool. When you read the pounds feet rating on a lot of 'higher quality tools' you'll often see that they have two numbers of ft. lbs. The higher number is
the rating for removing fasteners, and then of course, the lower number is for tightening.
Some folks confuse an air tool by the sound it makes and think they are all 'impact' tools, in that they assume that because it makes a ratcheting sound it's impacting, in fact it is not.
I just thought I'd throw that bit of info. in for kicks!

I wonder if "egg--corns" is a regional term, as I have heard it a few times by different TH-camrs. Has anyone ever told ol' Road King that most of us call it them "acorns"?

I think the owner of the engine hadn't thought about carbon build up. To me that's the reason they stopped using the machine. Just my thoughts.

😮😮 its not uncommon 2 find them like that W carbon 😤 😮 the carb was running rich or the engine was using oil the rings werent no good it was used a long time and they didnt do regular oil changes and cheap motor oil will do the same thing the rings may be stuck and most likely they are worn out 😮😮 U should take tge old rings off and clean the piston and clean the ring grooves out I would hone the cylinder and put a new set of piston rings in the engine 😊😊 OMG 1 31 2O25
