He survived the crash but unfortunately was severely allergic to peanuts and exploded as soon as the peanuts crashed through the windshield. I would visit his grave for years and play this song on my walkman
the one that got away fits well enough into whole 80s aesthetic that if u got belinda carlisle on vocals, u could totally fool me into thinking it was written in the 80s but secret love song? even if u got cyndi goddamn lauper instead of little mix, i would still find it hard to believe that that godawful song was made in the 80s secret love song is a specific kind of terrible music that can only have been conceived in the 2010s. the vocals and melody are obnoxiously forceful, and it's melodramatic in a totally different way from the music of the 80s, feeling vapid and manufactured instead of just airheaded but sincere
