Sweet. I was hoping i wouldn't have to re run wires all the way through. I'm chopping fender and putting in a bar led strip for brake light...so i needed a wire video. This did the trick. Thanks bro.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for. When you ran the ground wire back to the new light, did you just attach it to the original light mounting point?
Ty for a great video, but the grounding, when everything in the taillight is plastic and you only have two wires coming out of the circuit board, where is the grounding going ?
Hey man, I have a 2002 soft tail carb. Trying to replace the light right now and there is 6 wires from my bike connecting to 2 to the new light? Any help would be appreciated. Not sure which to fill connect, ground, etc
@@freebirdsgarage 2014, 14-17 customs have a much smaller tail light. So I had to purchase HD original, really frustrating bit is that it has the plug connector, but that connector doesn't fit through the little bitty hole in the fender. So I will be cutting and splicing anyway. Thanks for the video.
I would, if you don't you run the possibility of grounding one of the wires while hooking it up and cause the fuse to blow. That part was not mentioned in the video.

Thank you! Yes, run the ground eyelet on the taillight stud. You may have to widen the eyelet a bit to slip over, depending on the size.
Reminds me of when you did the wiring at the Walmart job.
Yeah same principles apply across the board lol

You ground the wire to the mounting stud on the tail light. I appreciate you watching!

I have an 89 Sportster 883. I heard you say 11mm I believe. Are they left hand threads? I'm missing one of the nuts and need to replace it. Thanks!
It is a 11mm but there standard thread not left handed. Thanks for watching!
@@freebirdsgarage Thanks!

On the new light? Sounds like you may have running lights tied in or make sure that's correct for you bike
With the ground wire, is there a specific way to crimp? Or should I just stick it on
Good set of crimps and the correct size eyelet. CRUSH once, heat shrink if possible over the area
My XL1200custom has a different tail light - no side screws.
That's interesting what year?

No need to disconnect the battery working on this wires?
