  • Police attended only 60% of shoplifting incidents involving violence against staff, despite promising to respond to every crime scene.
The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) reviewed 31 out of 44 police forces in England and Wales and found most still failed to attend every violent incident or cases where a suspect was detained.
Only seven forces met the target of attending 100% of such incidents. The pledge was made after retailers complained that staff stopped reporting crimes because "police would never show up."
The NPCC examined 1,514 shoplifting crimes involving violence or detained suspects from December 1 to January 24. They reported these findings to the Home Affairs Select Committee.
The NPCC also found that 76% of incidents where suspects were detained by security staff were attended by police, with nine forces hitting this target.

The Police simply do not care . A crime not attended is a crime not recorded .

Wave a union flag outside the shop and the squad cars will come screaming round

Waving the flag antagonises the invaders who may then attack you .
The police know this and don't want them all kicking off and causing havoc .
      Just my opinion 🙄

You surely didn't imagine that paying your taxes would secure the services of a reliable, efficient and active police force did you?
We've got immigrants to rehouse, EDI courses to fund, a war in Ukraine to fight, a climate 'crisis' to tackle, a whole countryside to 'decolonise' and so much raaaaacism!

I can't understand why the police can choose what crimes they deal with.If an individual policeman decided to ignore a crime it would be neglect of duty.I would think the Police chiefs would also be in neglect of duty.Time somebody took them to court.

Very interesting interview. On a lighter note, the captions/subtitles to these YT vids often make me chuckle. At about 12.35, Peter says 'which in turn gave me my self-esteem back', whereas those reading the subtitles would find him saying: 'which in turn gave me myself a steam bag'.

New force is needed common law peace officers seperate from the corporation that is currently pretending to be a police force when they are just revenue collectors for the corporation of the courts, untill the system is rebuilt fair to the people and not bound to the pounds it earns common law must come first including a new way of policing.
