Shane was born with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that requires him to use an electric wheelchair. He is the author of several award-winning books, the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.
Hannah is a senior at Carleton College, studying sociology and anthropology. She works as a researcher for an educational consulting firm. Her future aspirations include attending law school and owning a goat sanctuary. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog.
Shane and Hannah have been dating for over 2.5 years and living together in Minneapolis in recent months. Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

I think they talked about this. It was something about football not being a real sport or swimming I don’t know it was in a Q&A i remember
They already answered that, they said they don't really argue about anything, only dumb things, I think their first arguement was because Shane said soccer was more of a real sport than swimming (and Hannah got offended because she's a swimmer)

How lovely! That's so sweet of you! I know we don't know each other but enjoy EVERY phone call, visit, childhood memories, handwritten recipes .... my mom will be gone 8 years on February 16th... I miss her so bad that sometimes I can hardly breathe for the pain, grief, and overwhelming sorrow... We aren't promised tomorrow. This, I know all too well. Just found this & binge watching your videos, you two are awesome and I'm pretty sure the only people to click dislike must be insanely jealous! I think all anyone wants in life is someone to look at us & laugh with us the way you two do with each other.
And I think it's amazing how you guys are spreading the message that interabled relationships are normal, disability is nothing to be scared of, disabled people are not children or fragile glass and caring for someone you love is a basic trait of humanity.. we all need care and give care in different ways, that's all.
I'm a doctor with personal experience of long term illness and of caring for a partner's long term illness, and I wish I could erase the idea of being a burden, of not being normal or adequate, and the consequences of stigma, shame and loneliness. You two are so good at sharing your lives and subtely but persistently challenging preconceptions and spreading such a positive message. Thank you! 🖤
PS final thought, sorry! The main message I like to spread is that either all of us are normal or none of us are. What isn't ok is just some of is being normal and the rest abnornal. I just think that's a fundamental point so many people seem unable or unwilling to live by. Thank you again and keep up the videos please, I love them! xxx
Hey guys! I have a question--Shane's been getting those Spinraza injections and I was wondering if they're meant to just slow down the process of his muscles atrophying over time, or if he's actually going to gain some strength that he never had as the years go on? Love the channel!!
Speaking of the Spinraza, I am also wondering, does his health insurance pay for these shots, or is it out of pocket?
TJ I’m no expert but I believe in one of his videos he talks about how he’s gaining his strength back. In the video where he holds his beer he talks about it! :) I hope that helps.

Question: I know Shane has been in front of the camera on TH-cam and other media platforms before and he seems so comfortable! Hannah, were you interested in a TH-cam channel or something similar before living with Shane or did his involvement inspire you to be a part of it? You both just seem so at ease being yourselves on camera and putting things out there and i admire that!

It's 1:30 a.m and I am so not sure how I came to this channel, but after watching a few of their vids I am awe inspired by the relationship these two wonderful people share. With a culture that has become so self centered and where a lot of relationships lack depth, it is refreshing to see the maturity and intimacy they have for one another. I very much get the sense that their relationship was built on a solid foundation. Without ever having met or knowing them I can see that friendship, trust, honesty, open communication are all very much present. They appear to have invested a lot of their time and energy to this union. This to me is a shining example of a successful relationship where the bond will only continue to grow. I wish them the best of wishes as they continue to navigate life's paths together.

I been told many times that there is no way I would ever have a girlfriend or get married because of my disability. How do you deal with all the people saying negative comments, and what advice would you give me, someone who is disabled and doesn't think I am capable to find someone?
Take it from another disabled person...there are people out there who can look past the medical appliances we use. Before I was disabled, I dated a lot of guys who were "differently abled." Now, I am married to a very active, fit guy who folds wheelchairs and walkers like he was born for it! The best I can tell you is to be you. Pursue your hobbies, and don't be one of those disabled people who bitches about what they *can't* do. There is literally nothing stopping you from playing sports, dancing, etc. Heck, one of my quadriplegic friends went sky diving! I think he's nuts, but he showed that even that is possible! There is nothing stopping you from meeting an amazing person to spend your life with. And know that if someone shies away from you because of your situation, then remember that they are not very good people. Part of the vows are "in sickness and health" -- if they can't handle a wheelchair, how can they be trusted when the chips are *really* down?
Adam you have to look right through the negative people and ignore the nasty comments.
It comes from close minded people who don't see the PERSON in the CHAIR. Out of pure ignorance they spew their assumptions with no knowledge or empathy.

Wow I don’t know why someone would tell you that you can’t get a girlfriend, that is so incredibly rude!!! You’ll find the right person, don’t listen to people who are immature. A mature person is with someone because they value the person for who they are, NOT for how they look! The right person is out there, and they will love you for you, just the way you are 😊 You are unique and special, you are worthy of love, just like we all are!
Btw I’m married and I have rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, along with a host of other chronic health issues. My husband has been with me through it all, for a decade now. My weight has fluctuated between 130 to almost 300 pounds, and he still made me feel loved and beautiful thought it all. He’s been patient when I’m in so much pain I can’t stand to be touched for weeks for months at a time. He’s helped me shower when I’ve been too weak to do it myself. He’s stayed by me when I was in horrible depression from my health. And it’s because he loves me for who I am. You’ll find your special person, please don’t listen to negativity 😊

I have been married for (March will be 19 years) quite a long time. Somehow, you guys reminiscing about this stuff has made me inspired to talk to my husband about this stuff between us and reconnect on that new, first level we had. We're like, life-partners and we always say good morning and good night and we love each other but talking about what brought you together is so important in keeping things alive. Everybody has ebbs and flows of good and bad but we've always been each others' best friend though we're polarly opposite in some very annoying ways. I speak of you both often and have even watched some of your videos with my husband. I really love the way you look at each other. You're SO in-love. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't have true love and for that pity them, don't even entertain the negativity and keep going forward. Ive been battling anxiety and depression for a while now all alone. Watching your videos really would make my day, sounds pathetic.
