I truly believe that the way men are being raised plays a massive part in why they are lacking the emotional aspect in many different ways. For example, young boys are raised in toxic masculinity. We have talked about “don’t show emotions, don’t cry, if you cry you’re not a man, if you won’t fight you’re not a man , etc”. We then send them out into the world and expect them to be able to maintain an emotional connection, but they can’t because they were never taught how. It is very often that women are disappointed in their partner for not coming up with romantic gestures or date plans , but part of the sad truth is that a lot of men don’t think of romantic gestures because they don’t know how to access that emotional state that would trigger those thoughts of romance or romantic gestures. My partners in the military, and we have been together a year and a half so far. This was one of the things we struggled with early in our relationship. I’m a very emotional woman, and I like love and affection (as most women do). He is someone who was raised for 4 years in an environment that did not support having emotions, and tried to purge them of those emotions because at some point they may have to kill somebody. On top of that, being raised with parents that didn’t help him develop properly , and here he is at the age of 22 having to figure it out on his own and he is doing amazing. I love how much his character has developed, and how much he has worked on himself to be the person I need. And you can bet, I have and will do the same for anything he needs.

I went to our local Oktoberfest many years ago and stopped at one of the food vendors serving "Hawaiian Chicken Pitas". It was comprised of a pita bread holder, grilled chicken, grilled pineapple, green peppers, onions, tomatoes and sour cream. Simple ingredients but the taste profile was outstanding! That was the last year my city hosted the Oktoberfest You should make that for a review! 😋
