    Thanks for the review brother, one motor officer to another. My Saddlemen just went into the stitching process. I didn’t order the Road Sofa, but I will post a review of it because you’re absolutely correct, there aren’t a lot of video reviews available.

      Saddlemen. I ordered my set back in March though Harley Davidson of Waco. And haven't received it yet. They keep saying it's in and then when I get up there to get it they say it's not there. This last time they did that to me. They told me it was on halls part why it hasn't came in yet. But on there part why they keep telling me that it's in. Starting to c red here.

    Thanks for this review! You are absolutely correct about the lack of good reviews back in the day . But now they have started to come out and are by far a more thorough honest review . And Saddlemen is now commenting and replying to the videos. Currently its a toss up for me between the Road sofa and the Danny Gray seats. My 2022 Street Glide needs a new seat badly.

    Thanks for the overview and feedback on this seat. I just got mine with the back rest for my 2020 Roadglide Special 114 and couldn't be happier. It is a little firm but hopefully with some seat time, it will break-in.
    Love the quality of this seat over the Harley. Never new how junky Harley seats were until I got my Saddlemen.

    Having Tailbone issues? I do. I have tailbone issue from riding 10K+ my first year on a 2021 Road Glide Limited. I've tried a lot of different things. Different pads helped a little but my soreness never left. Even after a year. I just road 2000 miles on the Road Sofa. No Soreness! I watched this video before I purchased. Thanks for the video!!

    I have the extended reach heated road sofa ls. I absolutely love it. It's super comfortable. I'm about 5'11" and I feel like the extended reach is about an inch back farther than the stock position. However I do feel like it sits me up about 1" which is my only gripe, I compensated by buying a taller windshield. Its thinner in the front and it actually feels like you can touch the ground better. I'm glad you put out a positive review because there were about 2 videos and almost no info about them when I purchased mine so I was worried. All in all I feel like Saddlemen did an awesome job on these seats. Just thought I'd throw my feedback out there for people who were curious.

    • @glidearkansas
      @glidearkansas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David Ferguson thanks for leaving a comment! It’s good to hear that you’ve had a positive experience with the seat also. We really took a gamble by buying this seat, because of the lack of reviews. It turned out to be worth it and now we get to share our experience with everyone else. I guess that you do sit a little taller on this seat. You don’t sink in to it, like on the stock seat. I had already installed a Klock Werks flare windshield on my bike, so I really didn’t notice it. Ride safe!

      Ok so what do you guys get for a measurement on your seats from nose of seat to bottom of back rest.
      The reason I ask is because I dont notice a difference in reach.
      So I measured.
      Road sofa ext-16.5"
      Factory seat -16".
      What do you have for measurement.?

    • @glidearkansas
      @glidearkansas  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Francis Barton What are you referring to as the bottom of the backrest? If I understand correctly, my regular road sofa measures 15”. I measured from the front tip of the seat to the stitching where the driver’s seat starts to go up.

    I'm a new sub today. I'm rolling on a 2018 RG, Been watching reviews on all kinds of seats. I keep coming back to the road sofa. I had a Mustang with back rest on my 2006 Heritage and loved it. I can't find any DEMO Mustang seats to try out, and I've had 3 dealerships tell me the customer service from Mustang was less than desirable. Looking like the road sofa is gonna win out! Great down to earth review without all the qualifying intro bs. Great job. You live in a beautiful state! Been through there many times and also for a couple of FLW tournaments as a SPECTATOR, not fishing! Lol...keep upnyhe good work. Looking forward to seeing your tour pack cover!

    Thank you for this informative video! I just purchased the Saddlemen Road Sofa for my 2016 Road King. I am a shorter rider (5'7") and was a bit concerned about the reach and stand over height. I was able to "test sit" the saddle before the purchase while at my local HD dealership, the reach is is fine and the stand over was just slightly impacted, with my boots on I am nearly flat footed. I had the Saddleman Lutzka on my 2017 Dyna Street Bob. A friend made a comment about how firm it was when he pushed on it. So I let him take it for the day on our ride, and I rode gis bike. When we made it back home from our 300 mile ride, he ordered a Saddleman seat. The gel they use in their seats is too notch. They are the best seats made. I have owned Mustang as well. NO COMPARISON! Mustang seats are an absolute joke. I am saving for the Road sofa for my 2015 Ultra Limited.
    If you want an inferior product, buy Mustang, Le Pera, or whatever seat you think is "better". I will stick to the seats that are actually comfortable and buy a Saddleman.

    Only review I've seen that calls out it's vibration damping qualities. I've been fighting a seat-based resonance in my earplugs on my older Road King. I got to test a basic Revere seat today that helped but if I'm spending big money I want the best.

    It goes to show that everyone's body is different. What works for some does not work for another person. I found the stock seat on my bike to be very uncomfortable for the long haul. I even had the stock seat modified and it made a difference, but not perfect. I also decided to buy a Russell Day-Long seat. I waited a long time for it and the workmanship is impeccable, but it still is too hard. So sometimes it is too costly to try one seat after another. I guess there are compromises you have to make.

    I live right by Dennis Kirk and they let me try out the Road Sofa for a few hours and I did not like it. Like many others have said it is very firm... Yes you don't want a seat that's too soft because you lose support over a long ride but it just didn't seem to allow me to settle into the seat since it was so firm... Maybe it would break in over time... I just did not want to spend that kind of money to find out.
    I got a good deal on the Harley Hammock seat so I went with that instead... I've only had it for a month now but it's been great so far... Complete night and day over the stock seat. The Hammock sits about an inch taller so that might not work for some but for me I like the little taller position as I have about a 33" inseam.

      @@glidearkansas seats is one of the hardest things to find for your bike in my opinion because it's all about comfort and just like fingerprints everyone it is different. I watched a few videos on seats like this one but you are not going to know what fits you best until you try it.... Just like what you experienced with the Road Sofa. Fortunately I'm lucky that I have a major aftermarket retailer and a Harley dealer with in 20 miles where I live that both let me try out seats before I bought them. Most people do not have this luxury... I would definitely not want to buy a seat before I tried it and most people don't have the luxury I do.
      So the take away from this... just because somebody says a seat isn't comfortable for them doesn't mean it isn't comfortable for you. So either try to find a place that I'll let you try out seats first or find a good retailer that will let you return a seat if it doesn't work for you. But keep in mind it may take more than a couple hours on a seat to figure out if you'll like it or not.

      bd rider, thank you! They make a tapered one and a wider one. I went with the wider passenger seat, just in case. The Mrs. loves the seat. She has had 0 complaints, even after riding a several hundred mile day. She kept telling me to say what she thought about it in the video, but I didn’t and she didn’t want to be on camera yesterday. On the stock seat, she made me stop at Walmart one time. She bought a pillow to sit on, because she said that it was unbearable and we were still 2hrs from home. That was on about a 300 mile loop ride that we took.

      Randy Hickman thanks for leaving a comment! I too have a Goldwing and understand what you mean about wanting to stretch out. That’s why I ride my Harley more than the GL1500. The seat for the GL1800 is a little different than what’s on my Harley. You’re not going to sink down in to a gel seat, like you do on the stock seat. • @glidearkansas
      @glidearkansas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say that it sits about the same height, if not a little taller. The Saddlemen does not give like the stock seat, because of the gel inside of it. To me, I sunk way down in to the stock seat and it caused back pain on longer rides.
      Have you looked at a taller windscreen to help with buffeting? I personally went with a Klock Werks Flare windscreen to eliminate that.

      @@glidearkansas unfortunately I did twice and still have some buffeting. I bought both the Klock Werks and Memphis Shade. I can understand the seat issue and the back pain from a long trip. I start to feel it on my stock seat at times and I haven’t gone on long rides yet.

      @@mikehess7687 I switched to the 10.5” Flare last September and it helped tremendously. I’m 5’11” and wear a modular helmet with the front open (unless it’s raining).
      When I rode from Arkansas to Daytona Beach, Florida, I was ready to sell my bike with the stock seat. Once I started having pain, there was no relief. I could take a break at a gas station and as soon as I got back on that stock seat, I would immediately feel the sharp pains that previously had me taking a break in the first place. If I take a break on the Saddlemen, it’s like starting fresh each time. It sounds crazy, but it really changed my long distance capabilities. I hope that you find a setup that works for you!

    Nice review. I just watched some guy who had his Saddlemen seat for 2 days and commenced to talking about how it sucks. Unless you've ridden with the seat on a 3 or 4 hundred mile trip how can you know much about the seat. My Indian Chief Vintage seat looks nice but it is a 2 hour seat. My brother's Challenger seat is the same. I think we are going to try a Saddlemen seat. :)

    Lmao!! I felt the same thing, I have two custom Harley with low profile seats they look great but I can’t Handel more then two hrs on them, I feel like riding standing up, so instead of buying a seat I bought another bike.. cvo Limited with all the bells, road over 1400 miles to sturgis and stock seat was soft, but the front nose on the seat is real bulking.. making that long rage trip pressure uncomfortable... also the heat!! On the seat is another big issue.. riding miles of desert at 114 temps .... I tryed several items the air hawk, swoosh padding even the amazon seat beads helped the best for air circulation..from looking at all the reviews My next step is that road sofa
    Just have to decide if I want the set back seat or regular since I do ride with passenger don’t know if that will be less comfortable for the passenger

      glide_arkansas you will love strugis, one of my favorite trips, it’s pretty pricey on the hotels, I plan On it a year in advance, last min hotels if you can find one they run 300.00 a night there is so much beautiful riding.. and every place u go has its own type of event going on...i can’t say what place was my favorite of all cause I was so amazed .. from mt Rushmore to black hills and needles, i stood a few nights in dead wood and a few in rapid city. As far as party like a rockstar non stop was buffalo chip, was able to see Keith urban live concert...and the locals are soo friendly.. police are everywhere but there more for your own safety.. there not harassing anybody as long as no one gets Out of line.. most dangerous part is that everybody drinking and driving.. just ride your own ride and be safe out there... ps weather changes like no other.. rain one min hell the next and sunny hot and windy
      So make sure u gear up for it

      But to be honest I’m not happy with the seat I still had to run seat cushions due to seat was way to hard and uncomfortable, looks good tho lol
