So tired of my Traxxas Maxx V2 gear mesh failing. I bought a new Gear cover and it did the exact same thing in one day. I used a Riv Nut gun with a 4mm riv nut in the mesh hole for the plastic gear cover and a very short screw that locks into the aluminium threads now instead of plastic... with a rubber o ring to stop it from coming loose... so far so good.
Thanks so much for the detailed comment Kelley 👊. This was a poor design unfortunately. Makes no sense to keep going through stripped gear covers. You're solution has worked great for others too 😉. Appreciate you sharing Brother. 😎💪👊👊
Awesome smack down with the Sledge Bro! My motor got screaming hot the other day as well 🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥I’m loving the set up with the M2C motor mount and just got the new chassis! Can’t wait to see what the Sledge can do once Mitch and Avery perfect it! Keep slaying it out there brothA! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡️
Thanks so much Brother Rocky 😜!!! I'm grateful I didn't cook that sucker 😂. The tall gearing plus powdery dry dirt and wheel slip is a recipe for spiking temps. Do you have a link for the “1/4 inch felt”? Awesome first bash sesh. Thanks for going over the truck and sharing your modifications. I’m not enjoying the stock batter tray system and like the idea of providing some padding for the batteries.
Thanks Brother 👊. Here's the felt I use. It's self adhesive and easy to cut with sharp scissors. I also use it on inner body areas on certain rigs to cushion from shock cap impact points...etc... www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Sliders-3-1-2-x-6-Rectangle-Self-Stick-Felt-Pad-for-Hardwood-Brown-2-Pack/16782117
What's that grinding/crunching sound on 4:39? My Maxx V2 does make the same noise when accelerating out of a slide. Checked all gears and can't find anything wrong. Drives me nuts. Thanks in advance. 😎🤘🏻
That's wheel rub, likely on part of the body. Usually happens near the fenders when the tires are ballooning and front wheels are turning. It makes a nasty angry elephant noise 🤣🤣. The Sledgehammer tires balloon big-time on the Maxx and the Sledge. 🤗
I know you guys were having fun since you started in the day time and finished until it was NIGHT TIME! I've done that wrenching on my RC vehicles 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I totally missed this Bro Rich! What an EPIC first run with the Sledge Bro, great rundown of the truck too. The two piece motor mount design was my biggest complaint about this truck. Glad M2C is right in it solving the main issue. You were getting some ridiculous mega airs😍 off of the mega ramp brother. I'm hoping the M2C chassis will show up here soon, so I can get mine going. In the corner Still in pieces LoL 😂😂. I see the good ol favorite Talion soaring beautifully 😍.
Thanks so much Brother Chris 😜!!! Traxxas actually did some nice engineering, aside from the motor mount. Dig how they designed the diff case housings being almost fully enclosed at the chassis plate. Also think that long 5th screw up the back portion really locks the casing down. Had a Blast out there learning the handling Bro 😱. Glad I didn't totally fry my motor 🤣. The Mega ramp was awesome as always 🚀🚀. Felt Killer to get the ole Talion back out at sunset 😍. You're gonna love the M2C Sledge chassis Brother. 🍻🤙🤙😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Brother Dave 😜!!!! Sorry you missed this evening session. I feel like a dummy for not checking my reciever plugs sooner 🤣. Switched to the Talion because my power kept shutting off with the Sledge and the sun was going down. Glad it was something simple. I'm digging the truck and excited to get her dialed 😍. Definitely see you out there soon Brother!!!! 🚀🚀😎💪👊👊
I like to see a fair comparison of cost between the kraton and the slege and upgrades and weather it's better to buy a kraton that's cheaper then upgrade or a over priced sledge?
Not knocking the Sledge, but I'm guessing it's far cheaper and better to upgrade a K6s 👍. You can price it out, but both need an M2C chassis among other upgrades for harder bashing. 🍻
Thanks Jon 🤗. I hear what you're saying Brother. It's a bummer they don't have a roller option. For 800$, the Sledge still needs some significant upgrades to become a reliable hardcore basher. 🍻
Hey I have a question not at all related to this vid, I've watched alot of your videos and I need to replace my shocks on my arrma senton 4x4 vehicle, can you maybe explain where and how to do it, I cant find any quality shocks online.
There are a few direct fit upgrade options for the 3s line, but I can't vouch for them not having tested them myself. The ARRMA Typhon 6s shocks are what I run on my Senton 3s. Just generally want lighter springs and oils for a good ride. Axial makes a shock bushing that fits perfectly for the upper shock standoff bolts. Sits perfectly in the shock cap holes. 👍
@@Ashblastr the part # for the Axial shock bushings is AXA1356. Here's a link to Jenny's RC for the shocks. You might find them on eBay as well. jennysrc.com/collections/notorious-v6-blx-ara8606v5/products/arrma-typhon-v5-blx-rear-shocks-assembled-dampers-springs-ara8606v5
Great vid! Can you show us how straight the chassis is with a ruler in the next vid please? I would love to see how well it held up to those massive jumps! Cheers!
Thanks Brother 🤗. I'll see if there's anything to show. One thing is for sure, several of my fellow M2C test team members have already bent theirs. It becomes most evident when the chassis is completely stripped and set on a flat surface 👀. Clean landings often won't put a tweak on 6061 chassis's. It's butt landings, nose darts, and case jobs on uneven surfaces that put the most load on things. Skateparks will do it too 😱🤣🤣. 7075 T6 is the solution for worry free bashing. 🍻
@@whome5810 probably not as well to be honest. Just did a chassis swap for the prototype M2C Sledge chassis and the stocker is fairly bent after just one run 👀. The EXB chassis isn't nearly as strong as M2C, but it's better than 6061 aluminum. 🍻
Heck ya rich ur my idol I want to drive rc cars just like you😜 nice beat down and I think it was a very smart choice to wait m2ç to put there mark on the Sledge be you picked it up. Thanks for the always great upload ✌🏻✌🏻

I’m surprised you bit the bullet and picked up a sledge so soon 🤭 sweet session, bro! I can’t wait to get my “son of a darlin” out to the skatepark! Was going to yesterday but, things didn’t work out 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you Brother 🤗. I was summoned by the Wizard Mitch to help test his awesome parts 😍. Hopefully you'll get Darlin out soon. I know all about plans changing 🤣😎💪👊👊
What an awesome and fun video. I've had mixed feelings of the sledge since it's announcement but it seems like it does good. Such awesome m2c goodies that motor mount looks awesome. I love my backflip LPS they definitely do great. It's awesome to see all your buddies jumps. Do any of them have TH-cam channels? I still love that ramp it's awesome. I was a Lil late getting to watch the video but we'll worth it. Thanks for another awesome bash video man 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Thanks so much Nick 😜. I wasn't very interested in the Sledge either, but it's got serious potential as a hardcore basher with help from M2C😍. The Backflip LP's have become one of my all-time favorite tires 😱. They just take a hammering. My buddies John and Ian both have channels. I'll try and link you in a bit. Truly appreciate the kind words Brother. 🍻😎💪👊👊
Hello 👋 Mr.Duperbash have you thought about putting CVD in the rear I know with the original set up I put cvd all around and I had no problems whatsoever
Thanks so much Brother 🤗. I'll definitely do that should I have any issues. Right now the O-rings are working great, but I truly appreciate the tip and will go that direction if necessary. 🍻😎💪👊👊
Hi mate. You can get a threaded coil insert kit to repair any size stripped threads. They are great and you can get 3mm 4mm any size they will save you heaps of time and money 🦘😊😁😁👍.
So nice to finally get out and bash again. Loved the new motor in my kraton exb. Definitely need to go down a couple teeth I'm blowing the tires off 🤣. Sucks the sledge was down it was impressive. Price isn't impressive but Definitely a good rig after m2c upgrades.
So awesome to connect again Brother John 😱🚀🚀. The Hobbystar 1730 4092 is a Ripper for sure. With our summer temps, probably want a 20t to play it safe. You'll still have nice speed and wheelspin. Glad I got the reciever plugs sorted with the Sledge 👍. Getting my ass handed to me at work right now 😂. Talk soon Brother 🍻🤙🤙😎💪👊👊
Nice bash, my rear diff had a stripped screw in the bulkhead as well. I called them and they sent me a new bulkhead. Lots of guys online had the same problem. Who does Traxxas pay to build these. Geeez
I've been lowkey waiting on your review. My sledge still in the box blacksealed. for about a month now. (on the top shelf though 🤣 shhhhhhh arrmaheads are probably watching.) did you leave the shock tune stock out of box?
HaHa 😂. ARRMA faithful will forgive you Brother 🤗. Got mine to help M2C test upgrades, but will say she's pretty tough. Definitely seeing the potential with a few key hop ups and tweaks. It's fun to wrench on and tune a new rig either way 😍. Didn't get to the shocks yet, but they're next. Just dialed down the rear shock collars a bit. 😎💪👊👊
I would personally go with a Kraton. Just feel it's a better value with far more upgrade support and tuning capability. The stock motor mount design of the Sledge is an engineering misstep waiting to implode. Both trucks are worthy, but they both need M2C chassis's for harder use. Again.... it's too early for me to truly compare the trucks accurately. Once I've beat on the Sledge longer, I can give a better assessment. So far I'm digging it as it is now 🍻😎💪👊👊
Thanks so much Brother 😜. I haven't done a distance measurement, but definitely covering some ground with a wide open hit 👀. Love that smooth Mega ramp 😍🚀🚀
Awesome first run with the Sledge bro!😍She does have lots of potential for sure! Great bench talk and first rip!💪💪M2C will make this a strong contender to the Arrma 1/8 line for sure! Some great stock designs but the motor mount system sucked!😝🤣My M2C mount has held mesh perfectly! Sucks on the high temps with stock tires..I ran 15/46 with the stock ESC then went to 17/46 with the Max 6. Probably a bit tall with regular Backflips but she moves! Wicked launches off the Mega ramp!🚀🚀That tire blowout someone had at the end was nuts!🤣🤣Killer run bro! Can't wait to finish chassis testing!😎👊🤘🤘
Thanks so much Brother 😜!!! Stoked to have a new rig to wrench on 😍. Definitely see the Sledge's potential thanks to Mitch and Avery. Loving the mount and hexes. Just gotta get her dialed in a bit and bust out the M2C chassis 😱🥰🥰. It looks friggin gorgeous and having the motor flip option will be perfect for the bigger power set-ups. I was planning to swap the regular Backflips on, but might stick with the LP's. They're working great with the 16/46 gearing 👍. We're seeing some summer like temps already 🥵. That tire blowout was hilarious 🤣🤣. John's first try with the 1730 Hobbystar running a 24T 😱. He's gearing down for next time. Truly appreciate the kind words Brother. 🚀🚀😎💪👊👊
Yes I have Ben 🤗. I've uploaded several vids of the last and newest version BRCC. It's a tough little bugger. Here's a great upgrade for overall durability th-cam.com/video/34ULx9OCzU4/w-d-xo.html
@@benturner9962 with the 3s rigs, I set my slipper clutch 1/2 turn out from fully snugged. If your slipper is too tight, you're much more likely to bust driveshafts.
It was pretty easy. I just unbolted and removed the front and rear plastic upright bits and the plastic battery retainer lid. I used dense foam for padding at the front and rear of the tray and 1/4" thick self adhesive felt padding (from Walmart) for the front and inside lip. You can lift the tray, set straps underneath into desired position around a lipo, then bolt the tray back on the chassis. That keeps the straps wherever you set them. A cross strap near both ends has worked great. 🍻
Heck yeah Brother Aaron 😜!!!! So far I'm digging her with the M2C hop ups 👀. Just needs a bit more tuning. Should be a tank once Mitch and Avery are done with her. 🍻🚀🚀😎💪👊👊
Man. M2C has made my Arrma 8s and 6s trucks flying tanks! Now the Maxx, Xmaxx and Sledge are getting some goodies too from M2C! I'm just a mid level basher (26ft high jumps is my maximum), but I still manage to bend chassis, break bulkheads etc. Hehe. How are those beefcake driveshafts coming along for the Xmaxx? How about some 7075 shock towers for the Sketer? Hehe. Thanks bro!
I'm so grateful for M2C Racing and the other aftermarket companies. The XMaxx CVD style center driveshaft are available now thank goodness. Outdrive cups and CVD driveshafts are next. Not sure if we'll see Corally upgrades or not. 😎💪👊👊
Thanks so much Brother 😜. I'm impressed with it so far. The Kraton is definitely a Beast 😍. Kinda early to compare the 2, but the Sledge looks very promising with the right upgrades. The drivetrain feels smooth and it's easy to drive. Just need to do a bit more tuning. The steering is pretty crappy 😝. A better servo should definitely help. Not sure about sway bars, but might experiment anyways. 😎💪👊👊
The chassis is machined with a gear slot to avoid contact with the ring gear. It's possible if the diff case is damaged or chassis is bent 🤔. I would inspect the chassis closely to see if you can find evidence of gear contact.
@@richduperbash2966 oh yeah there is definitely a little bit of a mark on the bottom of the gear slot on the chassis. Could it be that I torqued the screws on the bottom of the gear case too tight? Cuz there is no obvious bends or dents in that area. I just got the hot racing gear case so maybe just swapping to the new case will solve the problem... I hope. I need to have my trucks up and running cuz thats what I do now instead of heroin. My trucks are my new and most fun enjoyment so I try to take good care of of them. Thanks for the tips. Happy bashing!!
I fabbed a small shelf out of Kydex sheeting and bolted it using the existing wire cover screws right on top. Used 30lb Gorilla mounting tape to hold the switch. 🍻😎💪👊👊
The Kraton is better no question. The drivetrain is stronger due to hardened steel gears. It's very expensive to make the Sledge truly durable. The latest Kraton EXB RTR 6s is on a completely different level of durability and performance for the same price.
I'm not certain about the stock Kaiju wheel diameter and offset, but I'd think the standard 6s dboots Backflips would work great. You could probably add extended hexes if you needed or wanted more offset. I've had great luck with the Backflips. Still my all around favorite bash tire. 🍻
Traxxas with a metal chassis, how ironic. I got out of RC's for like 2 years or so now... Feels like its only been months... Got into a new hobby and one that cost a little more and just as fun and this one has no fan wars on which is better so its nice.

Thanks so much Brother Stephane 😜. More mods on the way 👍. Hope all is well up north 🍻🤙🤙😎💪👊👊
Loving the mount and prototype chassis 😱🥰🥰. Can't wait to get a hard test on it. So stoked Mitch and Avery are all over this platform. Really appreciate it Brother. 🍻😎💪👊👊
Now that was GNARLY!!
I'd say that chassis did well for those massive jumps! Great vid as always!

Thanks so much Brother 🤗
Great bash session brother👊🏻💪🏻😎
Thank you Brother 🍻😎💪👊👊
Love watching you bash , skills on a different level 👍👌👍

What's that grinding/crunching sound on 4:39? My Maxx V2 does make the same noise when accelerating out of a slide. Checked all gears and can't find anything wrong. Drives me nuts. Thanks in advance. 😎🤘🏻
That's wheel rub, likely on part of the body. Usually happens near the fenders when the tires are ballooning and front wheels are turning. It makes a nasty angry elephant noise 🤣🤣. The Sledgehammer tires balloon big-time on the Maxx and the Sledge. 🤗
Great video, can we get an update next time on the chassis, maybe with a straight edge to see how much she bent?
way to rip it up rich nice bash as always keep rippin!!
Thanks so much Robert 🤗. I'm digging this new ride 🚀🚀
I know you guys were having fun since you started in the day time and finished until it was NIGHT TIME! I've done that wrenching on my RC vehicles 🤣🤣🤣🤣
no fan or heat sinks for the motor? weird traxxas would do that as well as an exposed spur gear
Do you think that a max8 will hold up inside a stock sledge?
Yes it should no problem 🤗
Great video brother!!!!! No matter what truck it is on your channel you always take them to the next level!
Can’t wait to get out there again with you guys 😎🙌🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🍻🍻🍺
Thanks so much Brother Dave 😜!!!! Sorry you missed this evening session. I feel like a dummy for not checking my reciever plugs sooner 🤣. Switched to the Talion because my power kept shutting off with the Sledge and the sun was going down. Glad it was something simple. I'm digging the truck and excited to get her dialed 😍. Definitely see you out there soon Brother!!!! 🚀🚀😎💪👊👊
Awesome bash as always. 🔥👍 The Sledge has really impressed me overall. ✌️
Thanks so much Erric 🤗. Me too Brother. 🍻😎💪👊👊
2:11 what are those adapter wires that connect from the motor wires to the ESC?
I soldered up some 6.5mm cup extensions 👍
Thanks!
How do you keep your temps down without losing so much power?
That is just awesome to watch. Do you have any idea how high you are jumping?
Thanks Dennis 🤗. Not sure on heights, but we're sending them pretty good. 🍻😎💪👊👊
11:21 that landing looked sweet, must be some pretty soft dirt
Thanks Brother 🤗. Some of this pile is rock hard. Just depends where you hit it. 🍻
Nice run Rich, I really want to like the sledge, but I think this RTR needs so many upgrades to cost what it does!
Thanks Jon 🤗. I hear what you're saying Brother. It's a bummer they don't have a roller option. For 800$, the Sledge still needs some significant upgrades to become a reliable hardcore basher. 🍻
@@richduperbash2966 but that’s just it right? Hardcore basher? Regular driving it’s all good right?
Fun to watch… great bash session 👍👍👍 when you think motor mount will be released???
Thanks Brother 🤗. I'll check with Mitch and Avery and try and get you a rough ETA on the mount.
Do you have a link, I'm worried I'm gonna buy the wrong set, thank you so much for your help
@@Ashblastr the part # for the Axial shock bushings is AXA1356. Here's a link to Jenny's RC for the shocks. You might find them on eBay as well. jennysrc.com/collections/notorious-v6-blx-ara8606v5/products/arrma-typhon-v5-blx-rear-shocks-assembled-dampers-springs-ara8606v5
Thank you sir, I appreciate it very much
@@richduperbash2966 Cool, how well do you think the stock Sledge chassis compares to the stock Kraton EXB 6s chassis?
@@whome5810 probably not as well to be honest. Just did a chassis swap for the prototype M2C Sledge chassis and the stocker is fairly bent after just one run 👀. The EXB chassis isn't nearly as strong as M2C, but it's better than 6061 aluminum. 🍻
Heck ya rich ur my idol I want to drive rc cars just like you😜 nice beat down and I think it was a very smart choice to wait m2ç to put there mark on the Sledge be you picked it up. Thanks for the always great upload ✌🏻✌🏻
Thanks so much Jordan 😜. M2C to the rescue once again 🚀🚀. So stoked they got the mount sorted out. I've got high hopes for this sucker. Really appreciate it Brother. 😎💪👊👊
Great insight🤙
Killer jumps!!!👌
Thanks very much Brother 🤗

Do you need to have bigger diff cups for the m2c center driveshafts??
No they're a direct fit replacement, just tapered hardened steel 💪

Thanks so much for the tip Armando 🤗. Truly appreciate it Brother!!!!
Hey Rich, What servo do you plan on putting in that Beast?
I'm likely putting in a spare Power HD 23kg WP. I run them in my ARRMA 6s rigs and they do awesome overall 🤗
Nice bash, my rear diff had a stripped screw in the bulkhead as well. I called them and they sent me a new bulkhead. Lots of guys online had the same problem. Who does Traxxas pay to build these. Geeez
Thanks Mike 🤗. That's good to know. Hopefully the other plastic bits don't strip out. Probably was simply a rushed assembly with power tools. 🍻
If you could only have one of the big boy bash units what would you buy this sledge or the arma kraton or what
I would personally go with a Kraton. So far I'm digging it as it is now 🍻😎💪👊👊
Filthy skills! Beast mode on this jumps man, always great videos!🤘🚀🤯
Thanks so much Steven 🤗. Much appreciated Brother!!! 🍻
Absolutely sick bro. Have you ever measured distance? Looks like about a football field of a send off the mega ramp! 😵💫
Nice! How did you not break any hinge pins? I guess you got the only 4 good ones they made. Lol!
Have u ever looked into the arrma big rock? Only asking bc it's one of my first serious rc and just curious what I could to make it better
Yes I have Ben 🤗. I've uploaded several vids of the last and newest version BRCC. It's a tough little bugger. Here's a great upgrade for overall durability th-cam.com/video/34ULx9OCzU4/w-d-xo.html
@@richduperbash2966 have u done anything to the drive shafts bc I popped one of them off and now I only have 3 wheel drive
@@benturner9962 with the 3s rigs, I set my slipper clutch 1/2 turn out from fully snugged. If your slipper is too tight, you're much more likely to bust driveshafts.
How did you convert from the battery box to the one with strap?
It was pretty easy. I just unbolted and removed the front and rear plastic upright bits and the plastic battery retainer lid. I used dense foam for padding at the front and rear of the tray and 1/4" thick self adhesive felt padding (from Walmart) for the front and inside lip. You can lift the tray, set straps underneath into desired position around a lipo, then bolt the tray back on the chassis. That keeps the straps wherever you set them. A cross strap near both ends has worked great. 🍻
Killer sends bro!

2 questions what size o rings for the axles and how many holes for the tires
The O rings I used were about 7mm internal diameter. I always vent each bash tire with 2 holes per tire 180° apart and tape over the rim holes. 🍻

That was an awesome bash Rich! The burning question is how do u compare it to ur Kraton 6s ? Awesome video as always
@@richduperbash2966 hey dude! I am grateful and honoured by ur reply! Love ur videos and always learn more and more from them! Rock on man!
Just wondering if you might have an idea of why the hell my rear diff seems to be rubbing on the chassis on my kraton 6s exb? Any tips??
@@stevenberninger9841 good deal Steven 👊. The HR diff cases are a Killer upgrade. No stripping or cracking 💪. Hope it was an isolated incident. 🍻
what did you use to mount the power switch?
I fabbed a small shelf out of Kydex sheeting and bolted it using the existing wire cover screws right on top. Used 30lb Gorilla mounting tape to hold the switch. 🍻😎💪👊👊
Yeah that was a SICK Sledge test😈🤘
And definitely agree 7075 chassis for even 1/10 every time if it's a true basher!

Nice video mate! :)!
Thanks so much my Italian Brothers 😍🚀🚀😎💪👊👊
which one seems better to you. kraton or sledge if you make some improvements to both?
The Kraton is better no question. The drivetrain is stronger due to hardened steel gears. It's very expensive to make the Sledge truly durable. The latest Kraton EXB RTR 6s is on a completely different level of durability and performance for the same price.
for the sledge, I say that if you put a motor mount on it, it's ok. not?
@@danimudura3213the Sledge's biggest problem is the stock motor mount. Going with M2C Racing or another quality aftermarket 7075 mount is a must.
What kind of tires n wheels r good for a 6s kaiju? I keep blowing the stock kaiju tires.
I'm not certain about the stock Kaiju wheel diameter and offset, but I'd think the standard 6s dboots Backflips would work great. You could probably add extended hexes if you needed or wanted more offset. I've had great luck with the Backflips. Still my all around favorite bash tire. 🍻
