I started watching your videos because I was considering a trip through the Erie canal but I got hooked and watched your whole adventure so far! I have to say I am hugely impressed with the restoration effort on the boat and how precise you are Parker with all of your maintenance and repairs. We’re you a craftsman of some kind before this trip? Just the dodger project alone is pretty amazing, I think it’s really tough to get that just right. I think you guys are learning very quickly and gaining valuable experience. Keep up the good work - looking forward to following the rest of your adventures.
Hey Rob! Thank you so much for the kind words! My dad is who taught me all of my skills. While growing up (and currently) I help him restore century old Victorian and Queen Ann style homes. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, finishing work etc. Our family owns a small HVAC business which is where I gained more of a technical installation/troubleshooting skillset. I love learning and building things! Fiberglass was the first area outside of what we have done together and so there was a learning curve for both of us at first. He and I learned together and now today I am on my own with most fiberglassing projects but he still helps anytime I ask! Katy is a great project partner as well. She helped with a lot of the dodger project!
Well done you have done an amazing job of packing things away & preparing for any bad weather. & I must say what an awesome job Katie done with the inside of the boat. You are a well suited couple living their best life on a beautiful well refitted boat. Thank you so much for sharing. SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍
Thank you so much! Yes it was a lot of work but it was well worth it. We are so grateful to hear things like this and we are so glad to have you along for the journey! Someday we hope to visit New Zealand!
I know this episode was released months ago- but I'm of the belief its better to let you prop spin freely. The drag when the prop is locked is 3X the drag when spinning- the loss of speed is 1/2 knot at 4 knots or 0.75 at 6 knots.., that means getting to your destination 2 hours earlier on a 16 hour passage! I let my prop spin when sailing my 37' Tayana on Lake Michigan!
Hel of a job cleaning the boat and getting ready for hurricane season, enjoyed the video ♥️♥️🥰🥰
