Thanks Brian&Debbie for showing your boat, beautiful. Very nicely done! Love the main hatch, looks similar to MingMing. On my to-do list for my Triton.
Beautiful redo of the interior. I love the idea of making every bit of storage water tight where practical. It results in a more or less unsinkable boat.
Last contact I had was in July and they were in the Chilean canals around Magellan Strait sailing locally until the quarantine allows them to move north. They thought they might sail to Mexico and then to Alaska. I see on their tracker that today they are still in the canals.
I've been looking at similar sized, newer boats that have gone to aft quarter heads. Would like to see this done on a Seawind/Triton. It means you lose a quarter berth, but it pretty much turns a 30 fter into a 34 fter. Would love to hear your thoughts on this idea. I even know the perfect boat to do this on, Atticus I. That boat is pretty near perfect outside and well equipped, but it is in desperate need of an interior redo. If it was closer, I'd seriously consider buying it.
There are several small boats that have that enclosed aft head such as the Flicka 20. Some people prefer it but I'd be more concerned about losing counterspace and handy storage that is wanted for example to extend the galley. I don't like the option of moving the galley forward or losing one of the full length settee/bunks in the saloon. There's other pros and cons so another case of personal preference.
@@atomvoyager I just looked at a “free” Cape Dory 30 that would be an awesome boat for you to do. Marina owns it. They just want it gone. Free to the first person brave/stupid enough to tow it out of the marina. It was a liveaboard until 3 years ago when it became a die aboard. It has sat at the slip for 3 years. Owners family didn’t want it. Took the Marina owner 3 years to get the title and he just wants it gone. Hill, deck, rigging look solid as a rock. Interior is there but that teak teak needs a whole lotta love. Volvo Penta is likely an anchor. Do you think there’s room enough to do an outboard well? If it was closer to me and I didn’t mind getting divorced over it, I’d likely take a shot. The CD30 is an awesome boat.
@@petec9686 Thanks for the report on the CD30. Could be suitable for someone with the skills and $ to do the needed work. Another CD30 owner asked me about the feasibility of an outboard well in his boat. Looking at the photos and dimensions he sent me it could be done with some cockpit mods. Others that could work are the CD31 and 36.
Very nice overall but I personally would be a bit worried by the cockpit, which looks like you could get washed out of quite easily. I do like the nice, tidy wiring.
6'0" in main cabin. If you didn't want to build an integral water tank into the bilge then the cabin sole could be lowered for more headroom if needed.
@@atomvoyager Thank you for your response. I used go cruise and live on the boat that was one inch less than my height and while it is not a big deal it is nice to have full headroom which in my case is 6’2” and it is hard to find on most smaller boats. The nice thing about older boats with deep bilges is that you can always add a couple of inches by lowering the cabin sole. I guess I could still build and integral water tank, just smaller. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
No, he used epoxy resin thickened with different thickening additives depending on strength or ease of fairing needed. You can use Bondo (polyester auto body filler) as a substitute in some areas for fairing but it has less strength and adhesion than epoxy.
If you like to make TH-cam movies, I suggest you should learn how to hold a camera level. I never ever got seasick up to the moment I watched your video.
Yes sorry about that. What happened was I was using an old Contour video camera that had a swivel lens and I didn't notice until later that the lens had got knocked off center. The boat was gone then so couldn't reshoot but figured the video content was worth putting up anyway.
Brian and Debbie are amazing people. Expert refitting of ASW30. Tremendously talented.

Impressive sea boat. Nice work. Reminds me of how Roger Taylor prepared Mingming for arctic voyages.
Clever and practical refit. Great job.
I'm speechless! Great way to make the most of limited space.
Hi,
I really like this sailboat, small and made for adventure! Nice details...
Greetings from Denmark,
Christian
I'm really inspired by this!
+1 on great galley sink and MingMing hatch . . . CHEERS !!
Nice, have some reservation on the companion way hatch, moving in and out may cause damage to rim/seal, overall looks nice...lot of work..
Kitchen sink: brilliant with the bowl and the bucket. The hatch is very "Ming Ming" another great idea.
Yes, I hope they don’t have trouble selling it when the time comes.
Great job! You guys really thought things out...thanks
Excellent idea! Thanks for putting um out there.
Great lookin boat.
Have U heard from them recently? been couple yrs since they have posted. hope all is well

Great vid, but the friggin bird noise was nasty. The boat looks great, nice job. Many fun days ahead.
