The best weapon is ramming. High damage and ignores all damage resistances :)
And no outfitting cost and comes pre installed by default on every ship in the game...
@@dominicrobichaud4111 and can be engineered too by getting faster thrusters, more hull, and thicc shields.
Not as good as gravity. I destroy ships all the time with gravity.
A hull tanked Orca is a hoot for ramming ships
I took Yamiks and Mini's advice and started doing that in my vette. :D
Multi-cannon with beam is my setup. Strip the shield with beam and rip the armor with multi-cannon.
Same. My PvE Corvette uses Efficient Multis with Thermal Vent Beams. It's just like Halo, where you use plasma to strip shields and then finish with a bullet to the head from your DMR.
Arthur Horinek I’d probably use burst lasers to strip shields, but I’d still use Multicannons once enemy shields are down.
Then again, I struggled with combat in the tutorial enough that I decided to just go full pacifist and not even carry offensive hardpoints to maximize jump range, so what do I know?
@@joshuahunt3032 Keep practicing combat
Is it a good idea to put L pulse laser / L multicannon on a Vulture?
@@HalNordmann I ran that setup for a long time BH in a Vulture. But it was before engineers came to screw thing up.
I'm just laughing at the deploy and retract animations

@@QuestionableObject oh yeah its some good stuff
The best weapon is clearly the tail of a Beluga
absolutely
Out mining I have no joke tail slapped 3x viper wings to death with my Beluga. It's amazing.
I think you mean a cutter
No way. Space stations eat those tails for breakfast. Seen that often enough. :P
*BONK*
Interesting that the best weapon in the game is just a scaled up and slightly advanced version of cannons used on aircraft today, which itself is based on the design of the Gatling gun which was invented in the 1800s. I guess the simplest solution is usually the best one.
more dakka = better. Simple lay of nature
Like in jojo, the simpler the power the stronger it is:
Star platinum punch real hard and fast
Made in heaven really really fast
Wonder of U Pursue and you will die
Killer queen touch and explode
TheHand Scrape erase
And so on, the simpler the stuff is the stronger it is, no need for a ton of rules and conditions
The best weapon is the glorious space mammal, the Orca. Just add all the hull reinforcements you can shove on it's rear and fly right onto your target.
A small ship going into a CZ should take Rails on the small hardpoints, as long as they sit close enough. The small hardpoints otherwise can only really be used for pulses or special needs weapons for their effects (so entirely and utterly niche) because when you get through the shields, the armour hardness nerfs the small weapons badly against big ships. Rails don't care.
Or use Cytoscramblers on the small hardpoints. They are amazing against shields.
A corrosive multi doesn't hurt either...
Multi cannon is definitely my favourite weapon in the game. My Multi only Asp Explorer is called “50 Shades of Dakka”.
I've been playing for about a month now, I know I'm late to the party, and my main ship is an all multi-cannon Krait Mk2 call the MORE DAKKA!
hope you enjoy running out of ammo before you kill your target
@@mossthatrules77 *engineering with higher capacity magazines* Am i a joke to you?
And now I know what to aim for. Ty crazy space man. Love the noob friendly info
As a brand new player to the game, I find this video very useful for when planning how mine going to build my ships, it was easy to understand with great humour. 10/10
Gotta love those 2 huge PAs on the Vette, the punch each impact has is just so satisfying
The 4A Plasma Accelerator is basically the BFG of Elite Dangerous
This is by far the least sexualized review I have ever watched from Yamiks.
Having a blast with my Krait MkII with two rails on the lower front, 2 Multi cannons and 1 pulse laser on top. Love the content, after 5 years it still helps.
fun fact about burst lasers: The huge burst has a heat-per-damage ratio 3 times higher than all the other sizes of burst laser, making them extremely difficult to use on Corvettes. This is likely a bug because for all other sizes, heat is applied per burst, where as with the huge, heat is applied during each shot.
If you can aim the PA and APA are the best. My triple PA Krait Mk2 will accelerate 3 hot plasma loads deep into the target before it even has the time to scream.
I've tried other things but I keep coming back to my Krait.
Damn, '3 hot loads, deep into the target before it even has the chance to scream' sounds like a line from Hugh Hefners autobiography (or any one of a number of Catholic priests!)

Channel-appropriate comment.
@@edgepixel8467 exactly!!!
@bollo The Enigma All plasma accelerators are fixed. It's the only significant nerf that makes them not the only valid weapon in the game.
If you want a slow firing, high damage per shot weapon on a gimballed mount, go for cannons. They come in fixed, gimballed and turrets, and also have a lot of the same experimental effects as PAs. Be prepared for the low damage compared to PAs though.
There is an alternative plasma type, the 'advanced plasma accelerator'. It's basically a PA that fires weaker shots but has higher rate of fire. If you can keep it on target, it has higher damage per minute than its conventional counterpart. It comes ONLY in class 3, and is the power play weapon for Denton Patreus.
Tried the PA and railgun combo. It is literally setting my ship on fire with each consecutive volleys.
I wish I could fight in a dolphin!
For my python that I use for mining.
I have installed on my ship.
1 large burst laser and 2 large multi-cannon.
These are very useful when under attacked by pirates.
When you are carrying over 100 tonnes low temperature diamonds and void opals for hundreds of light years at a time. you got to have something to defend yourself. Also having an A-rated shields also helps.
I have a Corvette with 2 huge overcharged Multis with one with corrosive shell,1 large efficient beam, 2 medium pulse laser, and 2 small pulse turreted lasers. All the pulses are rapid fire with the medium being efficient and the small being phase sequencing and the other being scramble spectrum. The beams are basically just supposed to be energy efficient so that I can get in close and never stop firing, once the shields pop I blast them with the multis. It's a ton of fun regardless if it's the best build and it seriously shows the power of huge multis, small ships pop in a few rounds lol.
I love Plasma and especially APA and tend to try to build my loadouts around them. Burst laser is somewhat niche for me. I like to use it with Scramble sometime. I consider the Pulse way too vanilla and only use it when I really don't care. Multi-Cannon is also very vanilla, but it's just too good to be ignored. Efficient, powerful and plenty of ammo. My thing is to engineer Plasmas to have matching projectile speed and then mix them with Multis.
Shotgun build. RIP shields for enemy in 1 fly, hull in 2
Everyone loves those mult-cannons, but I'm still sticking with my frags and beams.
actually, i hate multicannons. only have a small multicannon turret on many ships to apply constant corrosive debuff to my targets.
@@supremecommander2398 Have you tried a Huge Multicannon? It is satisfying as heck
Multicannon fans be like "where did my ammo go?" after unloading the entire thing into a viper IV and doing 50 percent hull damage to it
My typical weapon loadout is heavy weapons as multicannons, and secondary weapons, usually in smaller slots, are beams! They deal so much damage on concentrated firing, and with gimbals, they hit even more! I use them to bring down shields, and when the shields drop, I switch to my multicannons to rip through the hull! Highly effective, especially on smaller ships.
I find overcharged incendiary multis and frags to be great. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBOOMBOOMBOOMrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBOOMBOOMBOOMrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBOOMBOOMBOOMrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt
I used pulse lasers last night on a medium hardpoint spot and it ripped through a shield and I hardly finished off the thermal energy left in the clip, I finished him off with cannons and missiles, fun but cheesy.
I just can’t wait for you to make a video about the best Hand held weapons. Mayyyyyyyyyybe?
Once you get half decent at aiming, plasma x rails is the best dps you can possibly get.
Beams with Thermal Vent are underrated. If you can keep two mediums on target you’ll average a temperature of around 2% and be really hard to target
Use 2x Huge Overcharged Thermal Vent Beams on the Corvette and stay frosty
im still sad that i missed the days of the heat cannon. it just sounded so fun to go full masochistic dakka mode and burn the universe to the ground
My setup fo my asp explorer is 2 beams for armor, 2 multi-canons, and 2 fragment shotguns.
Right before I quit my loadout of choice was 5 bursts and 4 multi-cannons on my Cutter. I might be wrong on that, but whatever. It was a lot of beams and at least three multicannons because I like gatling guns. All the multicannons were rapid fire engineered and the bursts were I think efficiency engineered... but I could be wrong. On my Krait I had toyed around with plasmas... they were good weapons, but I'm like you - I shoot like a drunk camel. No good, but when I was point-blank I was a gunning fool and so much explosions. Ahh, good times.
Building my dream Conda, I have my dream Python. Thanks for the awesome advice, now I'm off to melt some faces with Beams and deafen them with some dakka....
Rails with frags is my favorite combo for both PvE and PvP
Yamiks crying "ALL THE DAKKA" is now my ringtone
I like using the small and mediums as pulse/burst turrets as a DPS for the target
I choose gimballed just because I would rather focus on out maneuvering my opponent and avoiding his hits rather than trying to line up my own and making myself vulnerable, not just to him but also to his allies.
Should I put the experimental effect that makes the multi cannons do thermal damage?
I run the Beams and Multis on my Vette. FDL, 4 guardian shard cannons and a gimballed beam with thermal vent seems to go very well with its manuverability.
Pulse multi combo for the win, the minute you slap the autoloaders on you can shred EVERYTHING
On my Python I had 4 plasmas on top and 1 multicannon on the bottom of the ship. Multicannon was with amplifying damage (forgot the name of the upgrade). This way I had some way of shooting pesky little ships that survived the initial blast. Also note that you can't hit a cobra from behind for example with PAs on top and bottom at the same time. The weapons are too far out and one side will always miss.
I love my all multi Cutter and Clipper builds. Sooo much fun.
PA Vultures are also fun, but they get a little toasty.
Multis are my favorite, especially because of the engineering capabilities.
I mean, the vulture was the first ship where I realized the thermal value, and even then i still had not figured out how to engineer them to do bonus thermal damage. Goodbye lasers, Hello DAKKA!
What's dakka?
In my Corvette I run an quite old setup of 2 huge and 2 medium multis, a big pulse laser and 2 small beams. I like the setup though I hate to stop for reloading once in a while. Now the only thing I’ve yet to figure out is what weapon can be effective on the big hard point. I started with bursts but a lot of the time it wouldn’t fire because the firing arc from that hardpoint is painfully narrow. I decided to go with rapid fire pulses to see if at least I can get more shots before my target goes beyond the firing arc but it still has a lot of downtime when fighting more agile ships. I think probably a turret would have a better firing arc but the drastic decrease in DPS and the risk of accidentally shooting cops is more of a problem than its worth.
I've got about the same, 2x Huge Gimbal Auto Cannons and 2x Mediums, then 2x Small gimbal Beams and a single large gimbal beam underneath. Best I've come up with is learning to fly slightly nose high and its keeps that 3 class beam running more. Then again with Engineering you can annihilate anything short of a Conda in a single pass, so uptime after shields pop is kind of a trivial worry.
Also, if reloads are that bothersome, just get auto loaders...
Python + Large OC MC's + PackHound = Disneyland
Anyone else noticed the 1 frame cthulhu pony somewhere around 25 seconds in?
I may be late, but Of course Multicannons are the best.
3 sizes are friggin' Gattling Guns, A design that would be over a thousand years old at the time of the game. For something to be in use for THAT long, it's gotta be good.
As for the Size 4, it looks like a big-ass Flak Cannon, and prolly shoots a bullet fit for the girth.
I'm honestly not surprised the miltis are the best. I mean, to those it did surprise, have you *USED* miltis? They're insane! Paired with a good support weapon, or hell just use enough multis, and they'll shred literally anything!
Fed gunship with 7 multi-cannon is hilarious simple fun for bounty hunting. With a little engineering (say 3 to incendiary rounds), even shields just vaporize. Just one trigger, oodles of dakka, everything dies quickly.
@@paranoidrodent EXACTLY
It's not even funny how much DPS a well built multi setup can output
Great weapon guide Yamiks, definitely required viewing for anyone new to Elite!!!
I watched the video for solid advice, but I stayed to hear about the DAKKA
The scripting, editing, and delivery are top notch! Subscribed!
I came looking here after thinking about upgrading my weapons. Been running overcharged vented and corrosive beam lasers and multi-cannons. After seeing the video I’m going to leave well enough alone. Maybe add a pulse laser here or there for the builds with beam lasers that drain to fast.
Beams and burst with multi canons engineered is good combo but so is plasma.
I wish you put the names down of guns in video too as naming them
FRAG CANNONS! ...A skilled pilot in a maneouverable ship with lots of hardpoints like the chieftain with G5 dirty thrusters will destroy literally anything with FRAG CANNONS!.... My Chieftain named "Free Hugs" delivers over 1,100 DPS with two large and one medium fixed frag cannon G5 oversized, and three small gymballed beams G5 efficient to help with shields.
The only thing about the cannons is going back for ammo, but they deal so much damage it only takes a handfull of shots to take down any of the big 3 ships. Of course you also need actual combat piloting skills to stay within a few hundred meters of your target's rear quarter.
For the small hardpoints i recommend g5 oversized Cytoscramblers, one deals as much damage as a g5 efficient huge beam, and also can take down small ship hulls.
liked and subbed immediately for the skyline r34. u got good taste bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have all multicannons on my asp explorer.
I'm thinking of going dual efficient class 3 PA and then either burst or pulse lasers on the rest of the hardpoints on my Alliance Chieftain.
If that ends up cooking it I'll switch the small guns to turreted thermal vent beams.
5:00 what ship has those hardpoints? havent see that
Federal Corvette
They used the best music for this tier of weapons.
I think you nailed it here.
I use engineered beams & multi-cannons. Not original, but that setup works well. I also enjoy putting a weakened target out of their misery by ramming them. Good times.
Hmmmm if you do a multi Cannon setup only I wonder how long the ammo would last before restocking??
depends on what youre shooting, but in a high res zone maybe 10 ships, if youre going for longterm bounty hunting just use pulse
Yeah I probably will at least until I can do engineering and maybe I can increase the amo size of a cannons
Turreted short range inertial impact burst lasers on my vulture. Not a popular choice afaik, but damnit i'll run it anyway. Can't hit anything past throwing distance but once i park myself on my target they'll keep pumping out damage with little regard to my orientation. It's fun to bully ships to death with minimal effort and vulture's strengths (+turrets) make it laughably easy. Surely there are more efficient ways to get the job done but memes>efficiency.
my main battleconda, huge and large fixed pulses under the nose, rest are gimballed multis :-)
Came for the guns, stayed for the shashlik and kvass.
Why is there a 2-frame pony around 0:18?
Which is the best weapon to use on the Chieftain ?
kinda funny how the best weapon combos here are the same in robocraft and for the same reason lol
I definitely agree that pulse lasers are good... good for being the first thing you scrap when you buy a new ship. seriously why would you use these over the other two laser weapons?
Did you watch thre videos? He explains the pros and cons of all the lasers
Phasing sequence and they're naturally efficient so you can engineer them for short or long range.
I just got my asp explorer that is a everything build. Looks like im going with 1 mining laser, 1 beam laser, and 4 multicannons!
I´d rather buy an extra ship for mining like a type 6, keelback or even just a Cobra. Refinery, DSS, limpets & stuff eat up too much space making the asp more useless for other things.
@@tekfunk6299 I see what you mean, I may get another ship with a bunch of hardpoints.
does the multicannons and burst lasers build work?
Wait railguns deal more thermal than kinetic damage? How does that make sense?
Where can I buy the best weapon..none is posting this on any vids..we all know which ones are best but none will share where to get them..
I like multicannons because I like seeing all the bullets
first thing i did when i finally bought a conda was fill it with rapid fire multis and SHRED EVERYTHING IN ITS PATH. the only reason i eventually switched to pulse lasers was because i got sick of constantly synthing ammo. will burst lasers realistically do more damage overall than pulse?
Python flopping around on the floor! :D I lost it there! :D
Efficient beams ftw.
Best thermal weapon in the game hands down.
My 2 huge beam lasers with infinite firing time
I reallt want to do a railgun/PA heavy build but I don’t know what to pair with it. Since both are so distributor heavy it very heavily narrows down the other weapons I can use, and if I use rails then multi cannons may not have the range I need while if I use PAs then I don’t Fucken know what to do. Maybe I just do a rail PA build with advanced PAs as my main damage and rails for module sniping
Can we switch devs please? To some people that played video games at least once in they're life ?
@@phi_meson eh, who care...

So as a complete noob who somehow managed to get ahold of a vulture and would like to move into a python or a clipper at some point, am I right for putting a burst laser and multi on my vulture or would I be better off just doubling up on the multis?
I shoot down most npc ships in a single pass with just two plasma accelerators
Okay so maybe the noob in me is more powerful than I thought. Yamiks claims multicannons are the best but I've put them on my vulture now and I can honestly say I don't know what I'm missing. I go into conflict zones to test my builds and my multis can't seem to do jack. Can't whittle away at shields reliably, can't actually chew up hulls which is what I thought they were for, even against other NPC vultures! I've been better off just doing 2 pulse lasers so far. I'm going to test bursts today but can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?
One burst, one OC multicannon. MCs are better overcharged, and the burst is good efficient, long range, or overcharged.
@@brianlam5847 grade 5 overcharged multis with incendiary rounds will make mincemeat of anything, watch your heat though

@@TheYamiks Oh right, I guess I just did a bob, thanks anyways mate! :D
Beam laser should be in good and plasma accelerator should be in OK.
I mean how can you not love multicannons they're fuckin gatling guns man!
Do plasma weapons have that stupid charging time like I just discovered railguns are crippled by?
no.
Hmmm, I have Beams in nearly all fightable ships either as main or support weapon. Sure they have to be engineered (e.g. effecient+thermal vent) but who goes into fight without engineering?
In my War Bird Cutter I have two medium Beam turrets. They are doing quite nice work.
So as my personal narrative I can told you that Beams are GOOD for me. In addition I feel, that plasma slugs are only GOOD for posing.
What about beam lasers? I use them to take down shields they're so strong
So... Pack hounds and burst?
Best weapon in the game is clearly the mining lance! Duh
multicannon mah waifu
Shashlik with svass... yes PLEASE!!!
A few Beam with thermal vent and overcharge and a few corosive multicannon and a few overcharge is like absolute meta for pve. If pvp just load up with pack hounds and send your opponents in a fuck this scramble as you overheat to death.
"It has ALL the Daka" lmao
I'm a person of finesse, I tend to carefully balance pro's and cons for the ships I own
I think an adult reasoning in approaching what your ship should be capable of is the best way to get the most out of it
Weapons, of course, are no exception to this, one can argue that they are the most important item on a ship, that which you kill, cannot kill you
Having said that:
MOARR BLOODY FUCKING DAKKA!!!!
I had to read this grammar nightmare three fucking times, before I got an idea of what you probably want to tell us. For Christ's sake man, don't comment drunk!
