Good morning everyone! Thank you for letting me share with you this all new totally redesigned Equinox with you. Make sure to let me know how you feel about it in the comments section! I hope you have a great day!
Joe, you don’t know it but we are secret besties. You helped me get through 2020, man. But doesn’t your skin crawl just a little bit when you present a vehicle with horsepower this low? I’d rather go “On Throttle” with my bicycle. Enjoyed the video anyway.
For years I said when I get another car it would be an Equinox. Then I heard they were going electric and that turned me off. This renewed my faith in getting another one.
Chevy made the most underrated SUV in the segment even better. I still drive my 2018 Equinox 1.5T and currently have 260000 kms on it. Can't wait to try out the Active Trim. Thanks again Lori and Raiti for bringing us another amazing video.
Since early pictures leaked, this moved to the top of my list! My 2015 Equinox is still going strong with 145,000miles but I'm ready to trade it in with the 2025!!
One of the reasons these offroad trims are so popular - and they sell to urbanites in huge quantities - is the big fat 65 aspect tires. If you think about it, many bay area cities like Oakland where i live are off-road environments due to the prevalence of potholes. Hate the two tone paint, Ghastly. Nice wheels. Very nice interior. A great overall design. These compact SUV's are incredibly popular for a good reason. Practical, and space efficient. Sedans have no chance of coming back when you have so much usable interior space.
Looks much better. Things I don't like is the power output and CVT. Only thing I don't like about the exterior styling is the squarish wheel wells. It's going to be much harder to get lower offset wheels in there for people that like doing that, but I don't see very many if any Equinox owners doing that.
I like how GM is giving the customers the big infotainment for all these new vehicles as standard or at least every new models having this nice infotainment collectively.
I have a 2013 Equinox with the 3.6L V6 engine and love it. The only issue I've had with the vehical is the strut that helps hold up the rear tail gate, I had to replace it a few years ago. But that is it. This vehical is fantastic. I want to replace it soon only because I want a new car and when Chevy removed the 3.6L engine option from the Equinox several years ago I was very disappointed. I figured I'd have to go to the Blazer or the Traverse to get the V6 again then Chevy removed it from the Traverse. Call me crazy but I don't want a turbo engine, I feel it's another thing to go wrong. I'm a snow bird and when I have to travel 1400 miles to get from MI to FL, I like to move and the V6 really moves. So, I love the looks of the new Equinox and the Traverse but you may have lost a customer because of the engine selections.
Looks great inside and out, but they kinda lost me with that 1.5L and CVT for FWD models, CVTs have been riddled with issues across pretty much every manufacturer. I am surprised they didn't use the 9 speed that is paired with the 2.0L from the previous gen, that transmission is fantastic. Hopefully, the 8 speed is decent for the AWD models.
@@dynxmicjake yep, my wife has a 2020 equinox with the 2.0L and 9 speed, it is night and day from the 1.5L and 6 speed that came standard those years. The only downside is premium gas, but it’s worth it for us. I was really hoping they would upgrade the drivetrain a bit more for this new gen, kinda disappointing.
@@dynxmicjake I really like the traverse, my sister has one and the amount of cargo space is crazy. The new 2024 traverse looks great, I’m interested to see how it drives.
I like the interior………..exterior looks better on RS. Sometimes just the wheels make a vehicle look so much better. Thanks Joe and Lori………I should have had pancakes for breakfast 🥞 🙂
I really like this. Significant upgrade from the previous model year. It kind of improves upon the Trax in every shortcoming that that cool little car had: more power, more room, more comfort, etc. Style is really good inside and out (I prefer the styling of the Equinox EV a bit more, but this is certainly fine & is growing on me). SO many brands are on my do-not-shop list (Hyundai, Kia, ford, VW, Nissan) & some others are too pricey or weird looking (Toyota, Honda)... so this is a REALLY good offering! I am excited to see it when it hits showroom floors later this year.
Under $30,000 please!!! That RS is sweet. Reminds me of how I felt the first time I saw the Range Rover Evoque. Love to see the attention to interior materials. More of this styling and quality from GM is greatly anticipated and appreciated.
The engine is the downfall of this. Should have an upgraded option like ford does with the Escape to give 250hp. Even the Rogue is at 201hp. 175hp is crazy low for a vehicle of this size.
Torque is the infinitely more important number when it comes to acceleration rather than horsepower. Pretty sure the torque number is 203 lb-ft. Acceleration will be class competitive against the other 4 cylinder base engine competition. Unless the 8 sp./CVT let's the engine down.
It looks nice, but why the 19 and 20 inch wheels for the RS, for maximum road noise and bad ride? A vehicle like that should have 16 or 17 inch wheels.
Great review!!!! This just became top of list when I trade my 2019 2.0T Equinox Premier in about 2 years. Nobody had said yet how much hard plastics are in this one. The only gripe I have is the relatively weak 1.5T engine. I hope they continue to offer the Auto trans in the AWD models. CVT is an absolute non starter for me. I've owned two different vehicles with CVT and hated the trans. Man that Activ trim looks good.
Very nice looking vehicle but I have real concerns about the 1.5 litre engine with a turbo charge. You must be very careful driving with a turbocharged engine
No LS version? New CVT transmission? I'll see how these and the Trax engines do before getting one. Wheel well looks like it's cutting out alot of cargo space.
Looks great inside and out, however that engine is laughably slow. Cant imagine this new bigger heavier gen will be any quicker. Merging and passing ability is a safety issue, if the car doesnt get out of its own way when you put your foot to the floor it’s just an accident waiting to happen…
In my household of 5 drivers, we all have equinox’s. 2012, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2024 models all have been great & reliable. Definitely adding a 2025 model year to our fleet already 😂😂😂😂. We are a Detroit 3 family for life, no foreign company will ever have our business
If I had the guess the LT will start in the low 30s and the Activ and RS will start in the mid-high 30s including destination with the fully loaded/optioned AWD versions coming in slightly under $45k including destination. I would want all the options except the pano roof.
Disappointed with the CVT and not a big fan of the 2-tone colors (white top, A pillars, and mirror caps) - it looks as though GM had extra parts available and simply slapped them together. Perhaps others will like it? So many great features on the 2024 Trax compared to this vehicle at a better price (yes, smaller). To me, the Trailblazer is somewhat stuck in a dead zone for Chevrolet now. Great review and as always, appreciate your efforts!
I have a 2023 Equinox LS excellent vehicle, can’t believe they plan to put a CVT in the 2025 redesign what a waste of reliability. Exterior looks excellent but CVT will make it a bust will switch companies when I eventually trade my 23 Equinox in.
Interior and exterior are very well done! 1.5L with only 175hp is simply not competitive. 185hp is the bare minimum, with +200 hp as the expectation for this class/price of vehicle. Where's the hybrid for better fuel economy and performance?
@@lilred1107 I suppose as a base engine, I can accept this as competitive. But GM needs to also remember that the majority of their competitors offer multiple powertrain options (with hybrid now being a near preferred choice). Hyundai/Kia's upgrade hybrids are particularly impressive, with 225hp/256 torque for equivalent prices to the current Equinox. Why buy an Equinox with 175hp, cloth seats and 36-month warranty, when Honda/Toyota are known to be more reliable/fuel-efficient and are more powerful in base trim, while Hyundai/Kia are lower-priced, more powerful in base and hybrid trims (ie: more fuel-efficient) and have 60 months of warranty? Its really a hard sell, and GM should recognize that. The need to have something to differentiate themselves. Some reason to pick this product. As it stands, style and the number of dealerships in rural areas is about it. They aren't lower-priced, they aren't more powerful, they aren't more reliable, and they aren't more fuel-efficient.
How can Chevrolet- GM , delay, delay and delay the redesign of their greatest best selling jewel in the lineup for several years ?? They don't make minivans, gave up on cars, gave up on the Camaro etc etc.... Do they only care about the Sliverado and maybe big SUV's. I remembered when GM products were all new every year almost. They need to produce 400,000 of these things , like RAV4 and CRV .. and have 2 plants running making these things as the market is there .. they only a plant in Mexico. They need to make these at the Kansas City plant .
Quite a few comments on the missing 2.0L and lack of power.. the 2.0L was dropped because it didn't sell. I'm not surprised. I don't think the majority of Equinox buyers really care about horsepower.
I feel like I’ve heard a lot of negative things about the equinox. Most people I’ve talked about this car have said to never buy it. Have they made updates besides the redesign?
We recently visited our local GM dealer with the GMC Terrain as our main focus. After watching this video I think we will be waiting a few months so we can see the new Equinox. Great job as usual.
Thanks Joe and Lori! I just leased for my daughter a 2024 Chevy Trax and love it. The new 2025 Equinox looks amazing…especially the Activ trim with the color combo interior. So much better looking than the current one…more truck like. Looking forward to your full review when it comes out!
I know that Chevrolet knows about more electrical vehicles after the new year has passed and than this is now while we were in the year of 2024 and now we have a 2025 chevy equinox!
Wow...love the update. My daughter has driven her 2014 since new. It has been a great vehicle. Chevy will sell lots of this new Equinox. Thanks Joe. PS: "See the USA in your Chevrolet"....vintage commercial song.
I think personally they should of blacked out the A pillars in the two tone model. I think its too much white especially right next to the white mirror caps.
8:05 Subaru heard that, and has actively engaged the design team on whether or not the entire Wilderness vehicle line can be made of flat black plastic cladding.
My Elantra is 13 years old. I think I've found my upgrade. It's going to be the all new Equinox or Blazer. If I go Blazer, I think I'll wait until the 2nd model year. This looks amazing!
@RaitisRides thanks Joe! Fingers crossed Supercruise tech eventually becomes available to more affordable models. Looks like, for now, the Traverse in LT trim will be a way to get Supercruise, (or even the Equinox EV [looking forward to see the pricing of this vehicle in addition to the Point Of Sale $7500 off])!
I dont even care about the cars anymore...im here for the food references lol still the go to channel for a good indepth car review before i buy a car.
So happy I waited to buy the new Trax. I wanted something a little larger then the Trax. Love the redo Exquinox, hope they don't have production issue like the new Trax. Miss the days of walking on the lot and purchasing a new vehicle.
it is quite the facelift for the Equinox no doubt. As much as I'm waiting on the EV version this one has me looking for sure. I currently have the 22 RS version so this is a whole new look and style and I'm digging it for sure. Just not 100% on the electronic column shift concept as that is also the same as the EV version. But time will tell and it's interesting they went with the CVT which I hope the techs with GM/Chevy really did their homework and make this option more appealing. As I've never been a fan of that one. But the AWD model has an actual transmission. This could be interesting!
I am going to buy my first brand new vehicle ever in December and I'm not sure if to go with the 2025 Hyundai Tucson or this Activ Equinox. Anyone have any inputs or experience on the engines bith will have?

I remember when you could have engine choices 4 cylinder n v6 it seems there just stuck in the 100s with horsepower
Price and range ., please.
My Elantra is 13 years old. I think I've found my upgrade. It's going to be the all new Equinox or Blazer. If I go Blazer, I think I'll wait until the 2nd model year. This looks amazing!
I'll buy one for my birthday in June ! If the RS is available with the option of a moon/sunroof? Thanks
It looks very nice, but headroom looks very limited in the front
It really isn't at all.
I like it overall Joe but I think it should have more horsepower.
Debating between a trax or wait for the equinox, but has to range under 32k 😅
Will the 2025 Equinox get GM Supercruise Joe? Thanks!
Not that I know of.
You are so awesome! Thanks for having my back!
Good morning, it's about time Chevy updated the equinox.
Looks great, glad to see we have some Twinkie storage section. Have a Blessed Day!
So happy I waited to buy the new Trax. I wanted something a little larger then the Trax. Love the redo Exquinox, hope they don't have production issue like the new Trax. Miss the days of walking on the lot and purchasing a new vehicle.
Does driver’s seat have massage? Seat cooling? Parking assist?
No it does not.
it is quite the facelift for the Equinox no doubt.
Does the chevy Bowtie light up? What about the colors like the matte grey?
It looks very similar to the Fisker Ocean, not a bad thing
Good call!
I am going to buy my first brand new vehicle ever in December and I'm not sure if to go with the 2025 Hyundai Tucson or this Activ Equinox. Anyone have any inputs or experience on the engines bith will have?
Now I have to decide between the Equinox and Mazda cx50
Thanks for sharing and your comments about these vehicles!
Now if they can update the blazer at least interior wise
And what are we looking at for price on these Activ vehicles $70-80,000 ?
12:06 That's my Favorite word: Sporty
I am glad that you are liking that one so much!
