Excellent review--clear and comprehensive. Interesting that Chevrolet has slightly increased the power on the Equinox for 2025--they've been cagey about detailing what were earlier referred to as "performance enhancements" for the new models, perhaps because, at least where I live, in upstate New York, the 2024 Equinox and Blazer Evs are not selling quickly.

That’s surprising because the Equinox sells like crazy here in Southeast Florida.

On the opening the door if you just touch the backside of one of the front door handles and wait for the unlock click you only have to pull it once.
In the middle of a trip with ours, we have had it for two and a half months and have 5,500 miles on it. Lifetime Mi/kWh is standing at 4.6 mi/kWh. On this trip we have 300 miles in, and are sitting at 3.9 mi/kWh averaging 65mph.
We traded up from a 2017 Bolt LT and are loving it so far.

Nice to see this review as I have the RS AWD with SC and have had a lot of fun driving it. I am not a speed demon but enjoy the acceleration and with these 275 width tires it has great handling on curves. I had a Bolt EUV which was nice but this is a big step up and the fast charging is very nice.
I have driven it 4 times 250 miles with one DC charge stop and a few on my visit to my sister in northern Michigan. All the charging went well and I was not in any hurry so I did not mind the waiting and needed to stretch my leg and use the restroom.
There are 2 items I wish were improved. 1 rear hatch auto feather, to have control of the amount of time before the hatch opens, and 2 door handle and lock controls so it stays unlocked when in my garage (home charging location). I like the auto lock and open features when out.
By the way, you don't have to pull twice to open the drivers' door. Just put your fingers and the back side of the handle and it will unlock without pulling and then pull to open.
I very much like Super Cruise and used it on both highways and 2 lane roads. The auto change lanes works well but not always when I want it or don't want it. But I leave it on as it works well. I remind myself that this is a "supervised" feature and you are still in full control and must be aware of your surroundings.
The surprise feature is putting the Google map on the drivers' information screen and then using the large infotainment screen for music. IMO Tesla is cheap not having a drivers' information screen and having to look sideways for the map.
The deal I got was surprising as I got my brother's employee discount, the tax credit, $3000 for owning a Bolt and a Costco $1000. Out the door with tax and fees for $40,000.
I plan to own this EV for a very long time as I don't see any future need to upgrade and don't need a larger vehicle as my wife has a ICE Blazer for hauling larger items.
I hope to save about $1000 a year in fuel so it pays for itself over the long haul.
Good luck with your in-depth review of the software as I will be watching.

I traded my 2022 Bolt EUV for the 2024 Equinox EV 2RS AWD. It looks just like yours. I've had it for about a month. I really love it. I dcfc it one time at a Red E station at ace hardware. It charged at about 125 kw. I went in the store so i didn't see the rate the whole time. I charged from 30 to 70 percent and it took about 20 min. The station was rated at 160 kw.

In my area in mid Michigan I lost about 20-25 percent with my 2022 chevy Bolt on average in 20 to 30 degree Fahrenheit using the resistive heater at 72.
The equinox has a heat pump so I'm looking forward to finding out. But the added range the equinox has makes it easy for my everyday lifestyle. The Bolt was awesome and took care of all my driving but I had to charge close to 100 percent occasionally. I don't see that with the equinox.

I too have noticed that people really love the look. I get compliments on it more than when I had my challenger srt-8 in sublime green.
Also you dont have to pull the door twice.... you just have to grab the handle let it unlock then pull. What you are doing right now is actually pulling the door handle with the locks locked then pulling it again once the lock is disengaging.
Think of the door handles coming out not as unlocked but as its ready for you to put your hand on there to unlock.

Comprehensive review, as always! First- curious howyou compare your Equinox with your Bolt, though that may not be posible until you dirve the Equinox more. Second- surprised at your bad experience with wireless charging. We use both the Samsung wireless chargers at home, as well as the wireless charger in our Tesla Model Y. Yes, it is a little slower than wired charging- and yes it is warmer, a byproduct of inductive charging- but almost all Qi Wirless devices have safety built in to protect the phone and battery. And hard to beat the convenience! We don't have loose USB cables lying around on our car seats or floor to step on- you just plop down the phone and pick it up when needed. The only issue is if you have a thick phone case. I have a hard, thin case, so the wireless charging speed is not noticeably impeded.

Love the manual air vents and temperature controls. Far less of a driver distraction feature than infotainment screen only versions. I realise that screen only controls are pretty much here to stay for most manufacturers, but frankly, this for (their) benefit as a cost saving measure and not generally a customer orientated one. Six feet under menu buried features can be very annoying and frustrating, even for the most tech savvy orientated drivers.

Nice initial video, of course we'll be looking forward to a more in-depth review. This is just scratching the surface.
I do especially appreciate the mention about the lease options. Deals will vary geographically of course, so I don't know if $300/month is available in my region, but surely something not too far off. That works out to just $36K for ten years of ownership. Granted, the actual lease doesn't run that long and who knows if a similar deal will be available when it comes to update, but then having to update every couple of years means a car refresh every two years too. Pretty awesome deal if you can keep getting it, wind up ten years in driving a car that's still only a couple of years old, and paying so little for an EV.
A lot of the Equinox reminds me of my EV6, which cost 50% more. Granted, the EV6 has a bunch more features the Equinox is missing, but I have to admit none are all that critical, even if I do really love them (HUD, vehicle-to-load, ventilated seats, etc.). For the budget minded, Equinox looks like a pretty nice deal (no matter what the haters say).

I test drove an Equinox EV at my local Chev dealer a couple of months ago and really liked it, however, I think GM needs to put a cover over the front motor and parts and provide a small frunk, get rid of the goofy-looking, huge chrome air vents and HUD, add a larger sun roof, increase charging speed to at least 250kW, and 0-60 speed. I bought a Tesla Model Y instead, even though I really wanted the Equinox EV, but GM needs to make some changes first to match the Model Y duel motor.

Edit: other than the lack of the numerical percentage of charge in the battery - the Chevy Bolt EV dashboard has the *best* display I have seen. The high/median/low range numbers and the trending use, and the actual kW being used/generated at any given moment, etc - it *very* good, in my opinion.

Agree have a 2020 Bolt EV.. and Use it for Rideshare. Chevy really did a good job giving useful info to the driver. Having a battery % would be nice. But I think most people think in miles.. not %. How far is it to home or the next charger etc. And the Bolt does a great job of giving that information.. the GOM is pretty accurate about predicting. I have put 45,000 miles on mine in 9 months.. LOLS. Came from a Toyota Hybrid.
The longer range and faster charging would be a reason to get the equinox or see what the next Bolt EV offers.. But I think they have a price problem. Even the base LT for $32K???? too much. I don't think that rear wheel drive versus front wheel drive would be important unless it had significantly more power. The differences in driving dynamics aren't very significant until you are really pushing a lot of power to the wheels. Regardless of fwd vs. rwd, the base model isn't going to be the best choice for someone who wants it to feel like a sports car. Of course, if rwd opened up room for a frunk, that could be nice.

But when I got our first RWD EV - a 2018 Smart EQ which is definitely not a powerhouse - RWD is far better for an EV, in my opinion. It comes down to traction in wet weather in particular; but better traction all the time it is important for everyday driving.

All three of those have the same capability to fast charge at 150kw ... as long as the DC fast charging station can delivery that at 500 amps, as you pointed out. My EV6 has a similar feature to the Equinox, triggered just by proximity. But unlike the Equinox, if you move away before it starts opening, it cancels the open, so it doesn't have the "I just walked past the car" problem that the Equinox apparently has.
TBH, while I like the feature, it's not really as useful as it could be, mainly because it only works when the car is locked. I'd say about half the time I'd like the rear to open automatically, the car is already unlocked for one reason or another and I have to reach down and open the hatch manually anyway.
