I clean the tops quite often. My cat loves to jump on top of the cupboards and walk all over them so I keep them clean or else he'll take the grease on his paws all over the house. Also any other high surface throughout the house that is jumpable, including the high Billy bookcases. If I'm looking for Max, I always look up. Nothing is high enough for him 😼
Put wall paper sticker on top of your cabinet then you have 2 options either wipe it as open as you want or replace it with new one whenever you wanted
I keep the top decorated. I'd lay down some newspaper under decor items to catch dust. Of course, less newspaper floating around these days. Still hav to dust/wash decor. Not something I do often especially now with my age. Love your videos!!
If you have any cracks in the surface of chipboard cupboards excess liquid will make them swell. Better to use the new plant based degreasers available out there and get the job done with minimal effort. This is a job that just has to be done on a regular basis to keep it bob on. Love your note of caution standing on worktops though.😄
If you don't want to cover the tops of the cupboards, using a small amount of cheap poundland car wax make the world of difference, helping them have a easy wipe clean surface and barrier between the daily dust and grime of a kitchen. ☺
Tops of the cupboards in a rental look this bad and even worse. I doubt anyone has cleaned up there for YEARS. Been working on one small section of it now for 1.5 hours and barely made a dent in it. Been using Murphy's Oil Soap and hot water. I had trouble understand what is in your spray bottle. Was it vinegar? All you used is dish soap in the bucket of hot water??? Well, I sprayed with a vinegar and water mix and then scrubbed with a brush with hot water with Dawn dish liquid. It had zero effect. Next, I did the same things except this time I used 100% white vinegar instead of mixing it with water. It had scant effect. What I was able to get up was like "gumbo clay" soil if you know what that is. This is years worth of layering of grease and dust/dirt. It is so sticky that what I can scrape off rolls up into little balls and still will not wipe off! It ruined a brand new putty knife and scrub brush. I cannot get the brush or the cloth clean. I am going to have to throw them away. I worked on this for a couple of hours. I am so disgusted....I do not know what else I can use. I want something that will just cut through the "clay" and allow it to be wiped up. I have moved in behind prior tenants who were dirty, but this place won the lifetime achievement Oscar for filth! I have never had to clean up anything this filthy before in my life. I am an OAP now, and this is too much for me to deal with anymore. I do not know what else to use to clean up there. I fear I am going to have to just leave it, and that REALLY, REALLY bothers me.
It's amazing how filthy they get. Imagine bacteria and mites working the way down the clean sides and into your cupboards if not attended too 🤮. Great tip

Now you've done the hardwork,pop some paper, baking paper, foil etc basically cover them and this will be 1000% easier next time.

Before I was disabled I used to do it once a month. It’s amazing how dirty they get.

Do you have tips on how to clean a Blanco silgranite sink? Mine's brown and has stains on it. I don't think bleach is good on silgranite though.

I just did this to my cupboards. It was a mess, I use Dawn 4X Dishwashing detergent, and to reach up there I use my ladder.

Use a bread knife or something of similar length with a cloth wrapped round it soaked in cleaning solution. Use another cloth to dry area.
