Pretty sure EA only cares about their paying customers, not the free-to-play crowd. If you've played for years and haven't spent a dime, you're actually costing them money because servers and bandwidth aren't free. And let's be real, battle passes are all cosmetic, no gameplay is locked behind a paywall. The real issue is for those who've spent money but still deal with server issues, hackers, and messed-up game audio. Like, how is audio still an issue 21 seasons later???
thats exactly it... theres no audio, terrible servers, average controller players are better than most mnk players, sbmm is atrocious, and ontop of all that, the paying fans, basically all players, have to deal with that despite the fact they spend money on the game. apex has made ea billions and all previosly listed bugs still exist. most free to play players arent even playing anymore because why would they? they have no investment in the game like spending money.

Ive spent quite a bit of money on apex (years ago), mostly for the heirloom for my favourite boy (seer) and some skins. But then I started playing ranked and it was the worst experience of my life. Cheaters, aim assist, smurfs, afk rats holy shit. The battlepass changes, for a lot of players, is just the last straw. Optics are everything in a f2p game. EA seems to care more about obtuse monetization than actually addressing the things that DO affect the gameplay. Since you had some warframe footage in the background its like that first hierloom collection with frost and mag. Atrocious pricing, couldnt buy with plat, etc. In like a week DE says they missed the mark, added stuff to the heirloom packs so they were worth their price, and said they wont do that shit again. Fast forward to a couple days ago with embers heirloom. Great pricing, available for plat, can buy individual parts, etc. DE setting the industry standard for a f2p game time and time again. EA doesnt learn from their mistakes.
I seriously hope that Apex dies down and Epic Games buys it, because right now Fortnite and rocket league have the best battle pass models right now. You look at all these game companies like Supercell and EA that are changing the battle pass models to cost real money, which I don’t mind doing every once in awhile, becauce I do enjoy these games, but at this rate it just turns me off of the game. I have so many hours in these games, but it doesn’t matter anymore because I’m not paying for this crap. I really don’t mind them adding extra cosmetics like Fortnite where the people can choose what they buy, at that point you’re leaving it up to the player to decide, but the battle pass being free kept me playing, now I just am not. A common rule of thumb in successful games is to add content not take it away. I really don’t understand who thought these changes were a good idea. It’s probably not anyone who plays the game, so it must just be corporate greed, but I’m telling you this will kill these games over time.

And the game right now is obnoxiously BROKEN. Matchmaking is a joke, cheaters every game, bugs up the wazoo…. My friends and I decided to just quit, go back to valo or something else. At the end of the day, they need people playing the game to sell their bs, so if everyone stops playing, maybe they’ll get their sh*t together 🤷♂ I’m not banking on this though, boycotts in the past have all failed. Easier to close this chapter and just move on, as sad as it may seem. Such wasted potential at the expense of greed.

I've been playing apex for 3 years . 800hours . And i've only spent 10 dollarsin those 3 years . I got lots of skins and I finished all the passes untilnow . So I don't feel that bad about they having whateve , cause i ain't gonna pay it anyway haha i just enjoy the game for the gameplay . I'm enjoying it for free basically haha
Apperantly they have to do this to comply with the new Chinese gaming gotcha laws but it's still a really bad implementation and there's already rumors the season after will remove the lootboxes and eventually you can only buy the game currency or just straight money for an item

you can't call it a scam when things inside the battle pass are literally worth more than the battle pass price? exotic shards alone cover the cost of the battle pass, the 17 packs cover the cost of the battle pass, the 2400 crafting materials that can't be bought directly and is a gamble through packs is worth 100 packs or more @ 1 dollar a pack, the reactive skin at the end, recolors are 40 dollars.. and then you can opt in to get these values 2x per season, not really seeing a scam here, i'm seeing a very cheap alternative to getting rewards that would cost hundreds of dollars if the bp didn't exist.
Then scummy should have been the words I used instead. Regardless, making it so it costs a hard $10 instead of AC only benefits people that spend money, and that’s a can of worms that is just gross.
i don't even think its scummy. for 10 dollars every 1 1/2 months no premium, you get 2600 coins and 4800 crafting materials, after 2 seasons you get 5200 coins and 9600 crafting materials, when collection events come, guess what you can buy with those saved up coins/materials, dramatically reducing the prices of collection events if you had invested a small amount of money into the bp every month and a half, 160 collection events dramatically reduce in price or after 3 or 4 seasons you can flat out get one for FREE.
Constantly making the argument about having to spend money in a free to play game is the most echo chambered thing to happen in gaming these past couple of weeks. The problem is not the battle pass. It’s the fact that they haven’t fixed hacking problems for months now that happened on a national tournament live. To keep on complaining about the battle pass is misdirection. Sure, it’s a free to play game, but who the hell cares that we have to pay money for any cosmetics the problem is never about buying cosmetics. It’s the goddamn fixes that are not being made to the game. We are not going to have any changes because you TH-camrs refuse to put the views on the back burners.

Aim assist is at a 0.4 on pc. And I play on pc. Aim assit isn't the problem. People play with strike packs is the problem.

There is also the whitelist high rollers aka(hackers who spends thousands of dollars to get all cosmetic and respawn is looking the other way)
