Skill Up warned us of this. They push out a ridiculous proposal that goes beyond what they really want to do, and then when we complain, they take back one part, saying that they listened to us, and lots of people become okay with it, not knowing that that’s what they wanted in the first place

One of the many reasons I don't have any interest in playing Apex Legends.
titanfall 3 is apex legends. Developers scrapped titanfall 3 because the game genre: Battle Royale, is popular these days.
You know reasons why is there a script unused code to summon titan, or the announcer says to summon a titan. And there's a character called Brisk, probably test play character in early development before first release.
The two steps forward one step back strategy is so incredibly effective that the average gamer has no idea they are being completely played every time this happened.
Short memory and shit spending habits lead to their downfall.

How long are we going to go on pretending like it's not an actual corporate strategy to make an OUTLANDISHLY outrageous change to existing business practices, which then face public scrutiny and are altered to a more palatable condition after claiming to have "listened to feedback".
This is literally what Trey Parker and Matt Stone did to get their edgy jokes past Comedy Central censors. They made some really extreme, over-the-top jokes, hoping that by negotiating these "wildly offensive" jokes out of the episode, they could keep some more modest, but still edgy humor intact in the finished product. It's psychological manipulation, and it's time consumers call it out. Respawn doesn't deserve another dime even if they walk this back completely, because they've proven themselves susceptible to playing these kinds of scummy mind games with their audience.

Fucking this, no ones this dumb to think this would go over smoothly with the community, especially since there's no way this idea came from community feedback. It's basically just distracting people from the actual goal cause now they're being applauded for "listening" when all they did was move the goal post. At the end of the day, EA got that they wanted because people will absolutely buy the cash only option.

This is the end game of every free to play game. Get you hooked on the game then ratchet up the prices.
The endgame of every "AAA" and scumbag free-to-play games. There is a handfull of free to play game, that I know of, that dont do this shit, mostly free to play indie games.
CoD isn't even free to play and yet they're actively doing this to it now. Only a matter of time until they start charging $80 + a $20 battlepass. Now owned by Microsoft, Xbox players also have to pay to play online. Shelling out hundreds per year per person for one franchise. It's insanity.
Of every game, service, drug dealer, etc. It's the capitalist way. Endless growth, the numbers need to get bigger and bigger. Once you've reached market cap in players, prices need to go up. More MTX, shorter Battlepasse's, more more more. Growth at any cost.
Glad I quit. Not because of this, but the servers and cheating is so bad that I really couldn't bother playing again. This is the second time they did this to the BP and that's 1 times too many.

It's safe to assume the two steps forward, one step back routine is how AAA pubs will move that goal post moving forward. Time and time again it's the same backlash from overstepping, to then pull it back a notch. It's genius really as it'll satisfy the defenders, likely bring back the majority who uninstall, and it makes them look like the good guys who have supposedly "listened". The only loss is the small percentage that doesn't reinstall.

mutlviersus almost died on launch because the negativity surronded the game. they literally had to patch out lebron combos because they looked bad on twitter. even though ingame. we can hold left stick while in combo to escape the "infitnite". but the twitter backlash gives the game a bad rep = people dont wanna play it. perception is reality. if people think apex legends is scamming them they wont play.

One very simple solution to this problem, make battle passes never expire just like the way the halo battle passes work, allow players to purchase old battle passes as well and *gasp* shock horror you might get people buying old ones due to them never expiring which leads to profit!
Funnily enough 1 of the reasons why i never bought a month pass ever, not just felt like monthly payment... But paying for stuff for which i would be punished for (as not getting everything i paid for) for having a life, touch grass ones in a while.
I still can't comprehend this ever caught on... Then again, horse armor for 2.50 was a joke back then, how the normies are asking for it to have something to talk about at the waterhole.

I'm still playing since the season is not yet finished, 10 (as of this reply) days to go before the new season roll out. If there still no improvement when it comes to the bugs and cheating (cheating was really rampant on high ranks), I will quit playing.

Maybe you already knew this, but Apex was intended to be TF3 but EA wanted a Fortnite competitor so it feels like Respawn it's just trying to survive with trends
@dermond I did know that yeah, I do mostly blame EA. But it has been almost 8 years since TF2 and what I heard was that it was also Respawn that wanted to do something new so they leaned into Apex. At this point of they had wanted to make TF3 they would have by now. Or it would have been announced in progress at the least.

I never got into battle passes. When I buy something I expect to get the whole thing & not to expected to do more for what I paid.
But here is the thing it's a live service game where they are pushing out more content and cosmetics so they have to make their money somehow... I hate these battle passes too, but that is the reality and why they don't really wanna do single player games.

It's a stupid system that forces a person to spend all their time just so they can earn what they already essentialy bought. There is no reason to put on a "fomo" (Fear Of Missing Out) type game pass just to force a players to play the game. Rather make it so that you keep it permanently and that you can purchase older passes. I guarantee that would be a lot healtiher for the games revenue intake instead of this stupid cash grab tactic

I remember a time when I would play Apex and nothing but Apex. Update after update all they would add is new chosmetics, new currency and more cash grab events with the occasional new game mode. Its frustrating that they put more work in the Apex in game Store than the quality of the game
I'm just going to keep enjoying my good single player games and wait for these multiplayer games to just die when people learn they are just cheap cash grabs with no substance.

Fr. EA has been the biggest bitch in games for a literal decade. Charging money to play online games on their servers since Dead Space 2 multiplayer, right behind Ubisoft. They’re so fucking cringe. I was so annoyed when I bought DS2 Used Disc as a 15 year old and then had to go ask my mom for 10$ to even play it online after that. EA is shit and dumbasses buy year after year after year of sports games for 100$ from them and then another 100$ to max out their stats and players every single year for nobody to even talk about them 3 months into it’s 12 month lifespan. EA should literally be out of business but dipshits keep feeding them money 24/7.

Most people have forgotten that when Apex launched its very first Battle Pass it didn't include enough currency to buy the following battle pass. The fans rebelled and the devs quickly changed it. At the time we gave them the benefit of the doubt because they'd never done a battle pass business model before and they were still figuring things out. But that means they can't do that now. There is no way they can now claim that they didn't realise they were making a mistake. It's the same mistake they made once before. It is very disappointing to see this in a game I used to love.
Yeah makes us all realize even back then it was on purpose and they only changed it because enough people said something. Trash business. I wonder when EA will finally go under? I feel like they never will because all the phycologist they hired have allowed them to completely manipulate the weak willed. This is the type of stuff that should be regulated. But uncle Sam doesn't give a crap. 😂
They've done this method for a long time. Release a scummy feature, then make it less scummy while saying "they were listening".

I remember getting into Apex and getting the battle pass, then got hacked roughly within a week and it took the team literally the entire season for them to do anything, even after i had proof from my friend and myself. When I got the account back, couldn't refund the battle pass since i was barely rank 10 and it was three days left. The levels of mismanagement and just greedy changes are horrible.

This is not a ‘walk back’, that would require they reverted all the changes. They leapt forward to only compromise afterwards with a ‘walk forward’

At some point, these live services just have to go. Sooner or later, we're just not gonna play them anymore, and then they just die cause they need a player base to survive.
I think this generation has been conditioned free to play models so unfortunately will never happen.
I still remember when Respawn broke off from the COD world and released Titanfall, 'we're for the players', 'we didn't like the way cod was being run', 'we want to be for the players'

When you start treating Battle Pass like you are purchasing a game with all it’s edition (e.g. Deluxe, Gold, Ultimate, Collectors) you are now creating a catalyst for gamers to despise, it is this type of behaviour that lead to Gamers despising Lootboxs and DLC Microtransaction, and this right here is the start of another feature that gamers will hate
I don't feel any empathy towards all those people who "play" these monetization shops pretending to be computer games. Greedy corporations will always try to exploit people, and there is a lot of idiots out there, calling themselves "gamers" who are very easy target.

Coined for the way that our current boardrooms, execs and financers refuse to just let things die or stay stagnant, instead every and any business MUST be turning an INFINITELY GROWING PROFIT regardless of if that greed causes the business to rot and collapse. Both TH-cam and Google are GREAT examples: Changes that only hurt the user experience, changes that benefit already unsafe and sketchy advertisers who are only getting more sketchy and unsafe over time, restricting features only to those who pay up even though the service was free prior or actually free in terms of when used, etc. It's not enough to have an efficient supply chain and low costs and decent profits that well cover your needs, instead every business MUST make an infinitely growing revenue or else it will be shuttered and screwed over by anyone in power. This is what led to tens of thousands of game developers being fired last year for no reason, this is why EA who can see that Apex is on the decline has chosen to do something that only exists to be monetarily exploitative in order to wring the remaining whales dry before they unceremoniously kill the game and studio, not caring that if they literally did nothing but keep the game running that it will still make money even if it doesn't hit the same highs it once was at.
This corporate greed is why in America so many people feel like the economy is terrible, because so many businesses have so little oversight that they can hike prices at will on any product, necessity or not, without cause and keep it at that inflated price as long as they want. This is in games, it's in food, it's in clothing, it's in housing and it's a universal issue. Some companies are trying to walk back their greed in baby steps like EA is here ala McDonald's but we can all stay assured that the dinos at the top of the economic ladder will likely die in a decade to be replaced by people who physically can't prolong the rot economy.

It's 2024 and people still are playing games by EA, UbiSoft and Activision after years of anti-consumer abuse. Amazing.
This is absolutely wild considering how many cheaters are in Apex Legends at the moment. I split and moved over to Valorant that has far superior cheat protection.

They literally could've just permanently boosted the base amount of xp a match would give so that casual players could get more from the pass and give hardcore players an easier time getting everything
Those remaining players should start uninstalling and stop playing, the greed never ends even after putting out that PR statement.
The finals did the same thing with the season bundles in shop. Used to be able to farm points to buy the bundle but not you gotta pay cash.

Believe me it's cuz they benefit too, a few years ago, I forget what game company it was but some of the high level execs were previously positioned from government agencies or other levels of similar job titles believe me there are all in on it and they are laughing at us cuz most of us gamers just don't know or don't care enough to know

I quit playing months ago mainly because they have taken duos BR away for months now. It was Trios and Duos then they took Duos away then gave everyone Trios and Solos then now just recently its Trios and Quads now...still no Duos. Me and my friend would play almost every night doing Duos for hours. But since they obviously don't care about Duos why give them my player retention. On top of all the other current season issues got other games to give my time and money too now lol. With EA money you would think they could support Trios, Duos and either Solos or Quads all at the same time.
Yes they definitely tried to test the waters showing us that Battlepass change a whole MONTH before it would be implemented, instead of just dropping it on August 6, which is the start of the next season.
