I got the chills watching this. Man this truck was rockin n rollin with a screaming Q the entire way. I love how you saw 2 different engine companies on your way, you guys were leading the charge!
Your got a bloody great driver their and he is doing good job, he must have had quite a lot of practice to be able to drive that truck like that, the old fire truck I drove down in the deep south of NZ Papatowai, we would have had to let our water go, and we still would never got up to the speed that guy was going, great video and thank you.
Terrible driving. Too fast, too much unnecessary Q use....this is typical of dipshit volunteers. He's begging to stack that rig up some day driving like that.
Nice driving young man! That's exactly why @05:20 you slow down for traffic lights, junctions etc because there maybe other emergency vehicles responding to the same job and you may cross paths, excellent driving :-)
I work in the Washington,D.C./Baltimore area and I can tell you that driving a car is sketchy there.all Fire/EMS drivers have to have nerves of steel to do what they do everyday. My hats off to the ladies and gentlemen that put their lives on the line!

The best response videos on youtube in my personal opinion.. Is the ones where the recorder walks to the truck and the ones where you see some of the firefighters gearing up.. Much better then ones where the camera is mounted straight at the windshield and all it is is sirens.. Thank you for the video
When I listened to the dispatcher, I heard the timeout. The timeout for Truck 812 was 14:01 hours. Trucks dispatched : Engine 848, Truck 828, Truck 812, Engine 830 and others. The electronic siren on Truck 812 is the original power-call siren, first invented and patented by General Electric. I totally wish some of the fire companies in my area had the General Electric power-call siren.
LOL we had a tower do that, bucket over the cab..he took an uneven piece of the road fast, jumped like they did, but when the bucket came down, it smashed the windshield !! I hate driving...I work with pussies. I take a corner pretty good, but they always bitch saying I'm going to roll us 1 day. Hopefully there necks are out the window !! J/K....anyways, they bitch, I drive, hardcore !! Approaching a 3-way stop, I look to the left before I get to corner and before I let trees on left blind us to oncoming traffic, but do they c me do that ? Nope. So, one bitched saying I didn't know if a car was coming from the left or not. So I brought him and the chief to the intersection, and displayed my thought process and activity...the chief was very impressed, the guy shut his trap ! My hood ornament goes on the centre line, and either move over or get sideswiped by me....Same guy now tries to get me in shit when I drive...the other day, he purposely walked behind my rig when I was backing in to the spot...how much warning you want bitch ? a back-up alarm, flashing lights, flashing 4-ways, and a spotter or 2....at the last minute, he walks behind me, then says "whoa slow down you almost hit me" to which my spotter said "shut up, you walked behind him, you seen the truck, you knew who was driving"..I guess senior guys hate the newbies when they've been on somewhere else before..and no, I DONT have that know-it-all attitude !

Screw the people saying he was driving dangerous that's how most fire trucks are trained to run, especially the FDNY lol, all those complaining are the one that drive fire trucks on a Sunday drive like Mrs Daisy
I'm not sure which FDNY you're talking about but the one I know does NOT drive like that. I admire the true competitive volunteer spirit and drive to be better and faster than the "neighbors" and having bragging rights, but it's only a matter of time before PG county has a catastrophic incident that brings everyone back down to earth and gets their priorities back in line. I know it's cool to be 20 years old and in a busy fire company but if you ever drove like that in my department, one handed, taking your eyes off the road to see what's happening in the back, you'd never see the drivers seat again. That's a million dollar rig with priceless lives in the back. It is your responsibility to get them there and back safely.
You people do realize CPVFD is staffed primarily by college students from Maryland U., right? Wouldn't you drive with a little urgency if you had to cover ground to get from one side of the county to the other?
For those crying over a seatbelt, they are wearing them, it's called an "Air Seat" and it bounces like that for a reason unless you let all the air out, trucks and buses have those seats. (For the Operator)
Im on a Ladder company 19 years now , i work in a city with tighter streets and lots of traffic lights, one way streets, double parked cars & when I drive we go balls out just like this guy with the Q pinned on every run from a stuck elevator to a working fire , I should film a run , sometimes I have only 10 to 12 inches on either side of the rig between the cars I’m passing ! Balls to wall is the only way to go !!! Awsome video!!.... But It sucks for a lot of city’s including FDNY who are implementing modified responses where firefighters must refrain from using lights and sirens for certain non-fire and non-life threatening emergencies....It’s bullshit!!
For all of you complaining about his driving? Let me ask you something how's your response time? He did excellent he knows his rig he did nothing reckless!
Nobody agrees, but I have no problem with his driving. And it is 100% possible to hit the ceiling while driving slow with a seatbelt on. I've hit bumps in the road at 30mph while wearing my seatbelt and still hit the ceiling.

Sorry not Nice Driving. Driver did not have the rig under control. I have seen rigs after they were in a accident. It was not pretty. I was a volunteer when I was younger and realized that a fast response is not always a safe one. I have rode with some cowboys that did not learn to slow down. Eventually that were told that they could not drive anymore.
+pipesmoker hence the reason your name is "pipe smoker" also you probably have never been to PG County, they have some of the best drivers. This guy was great at driving.
+FutureFDNY2009 My opinion differs from yours. I have been with good and bad drivers. They are in all Counties. I just feel that this driver needs to get some more experience and keep the rig under control...once you loose control it is all over.
pipesmoker his truck was under control Chrysler pulled out slows down and avoids it fire truck pulls up from the right also responding slows down looks both ways and continues and the captain hitting his head would not have been avoided it's air seats I hit a bump at 20 and almost hit my head with air seats seat belts do nothing but prevent you from moving left and right if you go up the seat going up with you just going to bump your head with regardless

@k0smon if you've ever driven in the DC area..you'd see why Q is always "up". DC area drivers are mostly oblivious to emergency vehicles and roads are chronically congested, and keeping it wound up usually gets the point across, basically constantly screaming..get the hell outta my way cuz im coming". Like ClubCrew says...it's annoying, but it gets drivers' attention.
Anyone else notice the Mercedes Benz intentionally cutting off the fire truck near the beginning of the video? Also that red car stoped at the light, it's passengers must have been terrified to death as this truck comes straight at them and doesn't even slow down just missing them by inches.
FIREFIGHTER ROTH 241 yeah everybody's blaming the driver but they don't know air ride seats move the whole seat and person sitting in it like a car seat the car bumps but the seat stay put in a fire truck or any truck with air ride seats the whole seat moves
Been noticing that a lot of fire departments have these for their trucks, those hoses that you put on the truck's exaust pipe so the inside of the building wont get filled with the trucks exaust, it goes through the hose to a machine of some kind that is on the outside of the building and gets released into the air......Boy when I first saw the inside of the truck, I have never seen so many folders of whatever you have inside of them in my life, I'm guessing those must be maps of the different areas that you may need to travel to.....now on the roof of the truck, in between the tow fans you have a red light an an orange light, may I inquire what those are for, I know the two red round ones are for to read stuff inside of the trucfk at night.....
