I have 2600 hours on these. Flew them for Brymon in the early 90's out of Bristol UK. They are beautifully balanced to fly. Flew MD11 after the Dash 8. Still have fond memories!
Wow, that must have been an experience! It really is an interesting but robust aircraft. And although I'm not a pilot yet, this might be one of my preferences if I eventually become one!
A most beautiful approach. My cousin and his family live there. Might have to visit one day. Interesting how the two pilots were in total synch. No verbal commands needed.
Truth be told, there was dialogue between the pilots. It's not audible due to it being transmitted on the headset, but even then, it was efficient and minimal. Something acquired under training & experience!
One can't really argue with that! Due to the unique geography trained in, the short field landings & challenging weather, it would be almost impossible to become complacent without consequences.
That will be extremely difficult to do, and I'm sure the passengers won't be happy for that. The reactions are just like any other flight too, so it'll be boring to watch if I even am allowed to record their reactions. 😅 Thanks for watching! 😄

That, I cannot answer for sure. But in this video there was a flare, only that it was barely visible. I'd assume that the handling characteristics of this aircraft is wildly different from the average jet airliner. I was just invited on a day trip, and am not a pilot as of yet.
The Dash 8-100 in this video has a maximum cruising altitude of 25000 feet. But on an average day, it's the distance that decides it. Anywhere from 14k to 20k.
@@ProPilotKo I am still trying to figure out what they did with the engine controls during this part of the flight. What I think having seen was the transition to ground idle after leaving the runway.
@@PeterNGloorafter leaving the runway in this video, the first officer actually shuts down engine number 1 for safety reasons in regards to the ground crew connecting the GPU!
I always wonder who makes videos like this and if this is according to safety standards. To me is obivious that there was somebody 3rd in cockpit as camera is beeing adjusted during taxing.
The third person adjusting the camera is me on the jumpseat! I got permission from the captain & I made sure to not interfere with the operations in compliance with the sterile cockpit rules as briefed beforehand. There are situations where filming is considered reckless and threatening safety, but this is not one of them.
Widerøe pilots are one of the most skilled and disciplined in the world! Things deemed difficult are just another Tuesday for them, especially in the winter season! 😄
You're correct that ILS exists, but most pilots prefer to land manually when they can, especially on a day like this with no clouds. In doing so, they can also hone their skills! ILS however becomes useful and preferred when the weather conditions don't leave room for error. I don't approve of calling this approach primitive, especially when admitting to not fully understanding the topic of aviation. I'd advise to do some research before judging topics not fully understood.

It's my first view at your TH-cam Channel! Thanks for sharing this wonderful approach! Greetings from Brazil!
Glad you enjoyed it, welcome to the channel & greetings from Norway! 🙌😁

Godt jobba av alle parter her 🙂
Veldig unik opplevelse 🙌😁
This is flying at it's best! Thank you!😍
Glad you like it! 😁🙌
The Dash8 is one of my favourite commercial airplanes.
It's also in my top 10 for sure!
Beautiful scenery
It really is! 😁
Beautiful scenery and pilots no need speak ! 😀👏
Professionals at work! 🙌
They were actually communicating, the mix didn't pick it up due to the noise 😅
Very nice approach. Nicely done.
All thanks to the crew on this flight! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love ur video the views beautiful be safe flying angels❤🎉

Super video 👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you 🙌
awesome looks amazing
It sure is! 😊
good camera work!
Thanks! 😄🙌
My mother was from Tromso…..I’m in airlines 17 years
That's pretty interesting, 17 years is a long time!

Excelent. Why is it called runway 36 though??
Thanks! The runway numbers indicate the compass bearing rounded to the nearest 10 degrees. So rwy36 will be a heading between 355 to 004 degrees.

is it usual to not to pull back the throttles and flare on these types ?

How high does turboprop aircraft like Dash 8 could fly? Can it cruise on 30k ft?

Piloting example, keeping hands on the joystick and throttles during landing

Good video, somewhat spoiled by the manic zooms in and out - slower would have been much better.
Glad you enjoyed! I tried to capture what I was looking at. Think of it as trying to follow the situation, as opposed to just having a static camera.
