  • Just showing how you can add "atmosphere" with different types of voice transmissions.
    (and a wishlist for ED)

Thanks! I found that when I was starting out that I really needed more tutorial videos out there.
Sometimes they went over the same concept, but sometimes you find someone who explains it in a certain style and it just “clicks”.
The more variety out there I think can help in that way.

Thanks for the linked zone transmit tip! Concur on the ED request. How about a video on your use of Audacity to get a realistic radio ogg file?

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to vent because to me it just feels like ED doesn't care about it's mission creators. The community is the only reason this game has anything to do at all and we can't even get templates for static emplacements. They are releasing the UH-47 but the community is the one the has created the logistic system. You might as well get the Hip, because at least the Hip can carry weapons. They only seem interested in creating shiny new modules, maps, and graphical stuff because it looks pretty. AND NOW I'LL NEVER GET MY PRECIOUS AV/8B+
EDIT: Not to mention a 3D editor. I don't know how many times I've placed a unit I thought was in a good place but due to having a 2D map it was not a good spot.

Never say never... I am willing to be there is a lot going on behind the scenes to make things work out. The last year we've gotten a lot of improvements to the core game (Multi threading, DLSS, mission editor improvements). I am somewhat optimistic ;-)

But also.. I understand the frustration, too!

@@sedlo Just curious, I assume you have experience with other game editors? My only other experience comes from Arma, while not perfect, is really great. At least I can create a FOB and save it as a static so I can move it to other places on the map or even OTHER maps. With Bohemia Interactive, they give tools to their community to help improve the game. Just imagine with our community could accomplish if ED was a little more open. I'm not going anywhere, DCS is one of my favorite games and even if they shut down tomorrow I'd still play. This is just coming out of passion for the game I guess.

@@Dionysus2009 I hear you. I haven’t used any other mission editor except for Open Falcon / BMS.
I would certainly welcome more tools for mission editor people, and a refresh of the editor itself.
I think maybe an advance mode which opens up more parts of the scripting engine that you can access via the GUI.
I would love to see that, would less scripting which means more people would get into making more missions :-)
Also, not related to your comment here, just me editorializing. The thing is if ED goes under, we will have like 3 days to play. Then authorization is required again.
There are a lot of people planning to ‘boycott’ early access. That means financial pressure on ED which is never good for any company.
I am not sure it’s a recipe for getting what they want.

    • @Dionysus2009

@@sedlo yeah I think the major hurdle for getting more people into creating missions is the fact you have to script somethings. I don't think it's very hard, it just takes a lot of time for me because I always make mistakes that I have to correct. My biggest hurdle for creating missions is the storyline. I'm really bad at dialogue and stuff like that. If I just used my military experience we would just discuss who would win a brown bear or a gorilla, or what's the lowest dollar amount you'd do something gay for.
With that 3 days authoritarian if they go under, they could always remove it. I believe Wags has said that's an option, but I could be wrong.
Anyways, thanks for listening to my venting.

How does Stop Sound work in all of this? If your Zone is linked to your aircraft and you have other sounds setup at the same time and you want to kill one of the sounds but now All. Stop sound use to have a Name you could give the sound so when the Stop command was given you could point to that one sound. Now it has changed. What do you do Now? Remember the Play to unit sound in all of this too please.

    • @sedlo
      @sedlo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah, exactly why I don’t like using “sound to”. I am unaware if you can stop a specific sound, but I find that if you have multiple “sound to” actions in progress, one just cuts the other out.
There is more city from with radio transmissions that way.

DD - have you looked at N.O.S.E. over on DCS forum? Search for the term. I linked it in another comment that got deleted so I'll presume Sedlo doesn't want links in his comments. It prevents sounds from cutting one another off when using SOUND TO ALL and is useful for mission designers looking to solve random sound triggers stepping on one another.

@@sedlo Thanks. I'm not up on the newer ME sound and I fly the Huey 99% my missions are for it. I only have the Am radio and a FM to play sound files. I do use the Sound to unit a lot. I like your Moving Zone on Player/Client tip thanks for that. Working on a mission now 2 zone enter and exit zone to start and end sound files. Your Moving zone maybe way better for a 3 zone trigger of the effects of a sinking ship sound for what I am doing. I need a Fade in and Fade out feel (sound file with the fade in and out) just needs to be triggered perfectly to get the effect. Thanks

@@MisterMannIndy I'll check it out. There was a script called DCS sqs that did something like queue the files. But I find if the sound plays AFTER I want it to then it doesn't really work for me.
      I'll check it out.

In one of my missions, flying deep into the mountains, not even placing a linked moving zone to my wingman I could receive some radio messages, so I have to put a few as "sound to all" just to be sure the message was received, but then again, I thought it didn't work if you linked it to your own plane. Didn't you say that the players' moving zones were not working properly?

@@sedlo Hm. I tried the moving zone linked to player's unit and using it as a radio transmission area and when you're deep in the mountains it doesn't work well. Even with that. What I think it's absurd, because it means basically that you have the radio station travelling with you, but even with that, there were a lot of atmospherics, really low sound at times and so... So I had to go back to the sound to all for the messages where they're deep in the mountains-
