- Official music video for my original song "Jungle Jam" on the RimbaTubes. After releasing this song on iTunes over 3 years ago, I finally have an official music video for it!
BIG thanks to Crate.Media. These guys were so cool. They found me at 3rd Street Promenade and offered to create this whole video for free. They do a bunch of awesome things too, so definitely check them out!

If you don't mind me asking, what is the board that holds up the popes made out of? I am asking because I am attempting to build a PVC instrument myself and am confused on what to use for the board.
MrBrendan882 Awesome! For my PVC Instruments, we use a particle board with a pre-existing white matte finish.

Hey friend, you really are great! I have a HUGE favor to ask! I created a 14 note (white keys of piano) PVC marimba for a special needs class I teach. They really are great kids, but limited in what you can ask. So this percussion (with pitch!) is perfect. I've worked hard and learned a lot, but it's the MALLETS I'm confused about. What do you use as mallets because they sound great and where can I get them? I know you're a busy guy but if you could tell me that would be helping out some great kids....and an old teacher. Hey there, I'm glad you built your own PVC marimba for the kids! I recommend starting out with something basic like flip flop sandals as a cheap & easy-to-replace option (I used garden knee pad cushions taped to plastic paint stirrers for a long time.) I've upgraded since then to a design similar to BMG's paddles but those require purchasing expensive materials in bulk. Loved it. Great editing and visuals! The accompaniment sounds were well done too.
Personal preference. I like the sound of the tubes when they are close mic'd. The complexity of the strike, timber, and resonance can be captured and heard more easily when multiple microphones are much closer to the instrument.
Like in your 2013 Pop Medley. The sound from the tubes is richer and more exciting. And it sounds like you close mic'd them. That, or the gain was boosted to insane levels :)
