Our technical collages (TAFE) only go up to Advanced Diploma but they have now been defunded by the government and are getting expensive unless you are on welfare and can get one free course per year. His main one was as a shoe maker and only earned $20 a week but he did anything from bar staff, laboring, repairing speaker boxes and playing in a rock band at local pubs and clubs. It wasn't until he retrained via TAFE and started working for himself from home that we have been able to live comfortably. We don't have what most people or society thinks we need but we are happy. Has the other generations spoiled it for us? Not at all. We've grit our teeth through the bad times and taken advantage of the good times and been happy with what we've got.
