found it once with a friend. Technically, he killed it so he got to keep it, but I got to use it for a little while at least. We weren't even trying to get one
I feel that permanent damage on rex's self damage should be modified ; not necessarily removed but at least give it some more leeway, like some sort of special permadamage that can only be healed by the ability, so that for example if you play the push well you can not take the damage, or make it so the alt R apples can heal self-inflicting perma damage, it would finally make the ability useful, and let you play rex as, well, rex again He's all around based on the duality between healing and damage (or machine and plant), and basically forcing you to remove one half of it feels pretty counterintuitive to me
20:36 That little maneuver to place the mortar perfectly centered was excellent. REX's boop feels so satisfying to use, especially when you have 3 of them!
I personally loop nearly always because I think it's more fun, I understand that it's a crutch and it's easier but it's more fun and I make up for the difficulty by playing on modded difficulties
Sometimes easier is fun. Lots of people gatekeep games behind how difficult they should be. But at the end of the day most people play for fun. That’s why games have easy mode too for people who just want to god mode
I loop because I just like to enable Artifact of honor and have better chances of getting elite aspects. (I play with ZetAspects so it's a 1/500 chance of getting one, instead of as rare as it is on the regular game.)
It's still pretty hard regarless of looping or going straight up unless it's Drizzle, i just recently managed to beat Mithrix since he released back in 2020, but i did take an long break of like 3 years until this week.
I remember Sequencing as artificer (ion surge) and got like 104 wisps and 200+ crit glasses. Also 6 planula... I would make it to the Sundered Grove, barely charging the teleporter by occasionly triggering my nuclear explosion (or getting lucky with enigma) before opening the gold chest and getting Head stompers. With ion surge and (later) 7ish feathers I became a living nuke... Still died to scavenger BS though, was fun while it lasted
I ended up quiting my fist eclipse 8 run because I picked up brain coat and didn't realize it negated permanent damage. It just didn't feel good, I can't really explain it to those who didn't experience it.
Never experienced it with ror2, but in the binding of isaac i prohibited myself from picking up 9 lives on The Lost because it felt like it defeated the purpose of the character (the lost is a challenge character that has no health and gets one shot, and nine lives gives you 9 extra lives)
E8 feels like a proper culmination of skill. You are forced to learn and adapt to all the eclipse modifiers, enemies and learn to properly evade. It limits the amount of mistakes a stage before the next WILL be the last. That level of perfection is what makes E8 for me
13:28 the reason that movement abilities compound in that way is because the ability just adds velocity to you. Two uses means you go twice as fast, but you still only have 1x air friction and gravity, so your distance traveled scales exponentially (assuming you don’t hit a wall)
that aurelionite logbook story reminded me of the couple runs command clover rush runs i did trying to get the voidling logbook. still the only thing im missing in the game besides the gold eclipse medals 🙃
i love watching your vids and ror2 content generally since most of you guys are chill, but watching has made me learn why i struggled on normal difficulty. i can't kite and i don't think i'll ever want to kite that much to win
This happens to me a couple months ago and I wanted to tell people about it I’m fairly new to ror and I got an aspect for the first time it was the sheild one and I accidentally gave it to an equipment drone😢
12:57 i'm pretty sure what you're describing is just how velocities work. when decelerating at a constant rate, you go way further if you just double your speed rather than travel with the "normal" speed twice. for example, if you throw a ball up into the air at 10 m/s, it would go up 5 meters before falling back down. if you throw the ball up at 20 m/s, by the time it's slowed down to 10 m/s, it's already gone up 15 meters. and then, of course, by the time it slows down completely, it's gone 20 meters. you doubled the speed and got quadruple the distance.
Yeah it’s just games don’t generally use realistic calculations for velocities, one of the devs just happened to be a physics major coincidentally is all. Most games wouldn’t increase the speed of travel with another use of the ability, taking into consideration current speed, they’d just usually refresh it. Even still an interesting note. This also works for pushing enemies away as well
the thing is that that isn't realistic physics at all, velocity is proportional to energy squared. the weirdness happens because the movement ability gives you a direct velocity bonus instead of an kinetic energy increase basically
Honestly this may be weird but I enjoy the non-damaging m2 and shift more than their damaging counterparts even though I'm only on E3 on rex I just like being able to get the full value out of safer spaces, opals, plasma shrimp and to a lesser extent watches and elixirs
Rex is unironically my favorite character to play as in RoR2 and is the main character I'm learning how to play the game with, he taught me a lot through my experience, it was pain but satisfying every moment. Whilst I'm still trying to get my win on Medium Difficulty (Just cuz I suck at these types of games and trying to change that XD) The main reason why I love playing him is just the cycling of his skills as they have a strong amount of synergy between them, he's able to really endure in fights and just do a lot of sustained damage with perhaps one of the more powerful CCs in the game. I always find Purity Rex builds hilarious to pull off, whilst I myself don't have the DLC a few friends of mine does and they're better at the game without question but having basically 0 cooldown on Drill is always funny despite the luck down is always awful.
Exchange changes. And I use faster interactable balancer so that I can add time to the clock. I also use reduce recycler which makes recycles instant after tp only and adds the 45 sec cooldown to the clock

man, ive only recently stopped using command and sacrifice and can *almost* beat monsoon, i struggle with mythrix on the 3rd phase where i just died to pizza 2 times in a row :/ never died to pizza before so idek lmao
The part of the video where you say "use self-damaging REX on Eclipse while you can because you're not coming back to Monsoon" makes me never want to play Eclipse.
So, I am currently on the eclipse climb early on, and rex is my worst character, I honestly HATE him, so I looped to increase the chances for me beating mithrix and I was also gonna get aurelionite. I avtivate the pillars and start attacking aurelionite, but as I attack him, a stray malechite lemurian snipes me, so I panick and run around, then this dense mfer, SNIPES ME MIDDAIR and ends my run, three good reds, and high hopes, ended due to one lemurian. Malechites, and Rex, are now my greatest enemy.
People talking about an item being so good because they won in a game. Rustles my Jimmies. This game is a Roguelike. That item probably won’t do very well on another run, because the factors will be completely different.
I finally completed my first eclipse 8 run, and it was on viend. Not looking forward to rex. That run was hard enough on one of the best characters in the game
