Glad to hear it and thanks for the kind words 🙏👊 Should be getting out for some crabbing this weekend, so I’ll have a other crabbing video in not too long.
What boat length is this? Moving out to the Chesapeake area in 6 months and need help figuring out what boat to get. Wanting to start with a tracker boat. 17 feet ish.
I don’t think it’s so much about a set speed as it is whatever speed you need to hit the right timing. It depends on tide and current. Go at a speed to where you know you can dip a crab and then dump the crab and get back to the following bait before that next bait comes into view. That’s one more reason why it’s crucial to have 6 feet of spacing between baits.
Such a GREAT video!…. Fantastic Tips!…. What I haven’t found yet is a video on how to make the ledge thing that the line goes over …. HOW do you affix it to the boat and what is it made out of?…. If you could help me with that, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!
@@KambotroutFishing Okay… I guess I’m mite of a visual learner… perhaps if I tell someone at Home Depot what I’m trying to do, they can guide me 😂… Thank you… At least I have a little better idea 👍🏽
@@fleekfitcaribbeanhip-hopda3197 if you haven’t yet, check out @Tomytek Outdoors on TH-cam. He does kayak crabbing, but he does a lot of videos on how to make various parts and pieces like PVC builds.
If memory serves, we had a stiff and the nylon net. Jamie was holding the stiff net in the back as backup, and I was using the nylon net as the primary up front. Just happened to be the two nets we had that day.
If the commercial crabbers had a bit of respect it would help considerably. Respect works both ways. Caught one stealing my traps. Scumbag. Turned him in but nothing happened.
Didn't watch the entire video, just a few comments... cull box should never be anything that could be considered a basket. DNR used to be very strict on this. Some officers issued warnings, but most didn't. It's nice the crabs finally showed up to redeem this season. Slowest start and probably the worst season I've seen in Southern MD waters. 60 years and never seen it so dead May through August.
Nah, those commercial guys are greedy, taking way more than their fair share of what belongs to every one of us. We shouldn't show any deference to thieves.
Can't say we see eye to eye on commercial guys. Many of them deploy their gear in a way that inhibits other people from crabbing a smaller spot. For example when several recreational boats will run parallel to each other, the commercial guy runs diagonal fouling up several other spots. And let's be honest, they're not all out there to put food on the table but behave like they are. Recreational guys have the same right to be out there. No sympathy for commercial guys here.
I’ve dealt with some commercial guys who definitely don’t deserve the deference, but I do lean toward giving them the benefit of the doubt until they show me they don’t deserve it.
@dpgunit05 So why is during the week you'll see several commercial boats with 4000'-6000' of line in the same area.... Come the weekend chicken neckers will take up that same space with a few 1200' lines🤔
@@tonygaines15 Well since commercial guys are so important they get to start early. I'm not sure how that would be possible if you were starting at legal time. No one owns any part of any river and you know just as well as I do a vast majority of commercial guys are very territorial over "their" spot and chase others away.
@@dpgunit05 Commercial Waterman pay close to 1000 dollars each year before they Start Crabbing and have to send in weekly reports before you Chicken Neckers even get up in the mornings.
One of the most helpful and best videos I have ever seen. You cover just about everything. Thanks

So cool. Yummy yummy in the tummy!
Awesome thank you for updating that so quickly!!!!!!!!
Np 👍
Now I have to figure out how to work the damn thing!! It's just a map lol
Great job on the water!
Thanks Mike! Had a blast out there. Hadn’t trot lined in years
very thoughtful and detailed!
Thanks very much and thanks for watching. Hope the info helps 👍
Can I use a light if it's dark in Maryland? To crab?
Or do I have to be Commercial crabber?
Love the video. Where did you get the net
On my bucket list. I would pay money to experience that haul
Was supposed to go crabbing today but car trouble nixed it. Should be going out soon tho, so more crabbing content otw.
Make you a crab net from wire. Take that nylon off won't tangle like wire it won't give
Great day of crabbing right there.
Best crabbing for numbers I’ve ever had 👍
wow amazing.. good job brothee
Thanks Jordan!
@@KambotroutFishing you're welcome

The link for the shellfish map for the Chesapeake Bay doesn't work. Is there a new link possibly a noticed? This video is two years old
Looks like there was an update. I think I found it and updated the link.
@@KambotroutFishing awesome thank you.
I'm going to check it out now. Have a good night.

This was my buddy’s boat and here are the details: 14 foot side consul aluma craft with a Yamaha 4 stroke 25
How long was that trot line
Soooooo many crabs! I wish I lived where I could fish for seafood 😢
I don’t know what I’d do if I lived without plenty of water nearby. I know I wouldn’t be pleasant to be around 😏
What is a good speed to go when you are trotlining ?

He said: “2x4 and PVC pipe and two large bolts that the pvc slide on for the sides”

How come your not using a stiff net to catch the crabs..

I wonder how many depth finders he's beat up with that crab net lol.
😂😂
man that looks fun
Lol man it is. Not quite as fun as fishing for me, but when I’m “grocery shopping”, can’t beat it 👍
You forgot to mention JO seasoning! 😱
Lol, guilty 😜
I’ll do that in the catch and cook 😁

I know some good Commerical guys, but I’ve also had and seen more run-ins with commercial crabbers than with any other guys on the water.
Great job bro lol damn
Thanks Jordan 👊
Turn funnel basket other way
To keep them from coming out?
wnat the hell is a funnel basket?? lol lol lol you mean a header
😂😂😂
Who in the hell crabs with a nylon net ? Wow
lol, I don’t recommend it. Wish we’d had two wire nets that day
