Over the past couple of years, Canon has slowly refreshed its fixed-lens camera offering to include models that are now capable of acquiring 4K footage. Today's announcement ties that newly updated product line together, with the XA40 and XA50/55 occupying the entry-to-mid-level market.

To be fair, I've been using the XA40 for over a year and it's more than capable of great filmmaking. With the right lighting during production and color grading during post, this little camcorder is a beast.
Totally i have had this since Nov 2021 and its great ! truth is sometimes we want so much but will we really use all of it or need it ?
Maybe you could help me… i own a xa50 i use it for recording dance instructionnals…i was eyeing the c100 mk2 i was wondering if you have worked with it… and even if its older if i would get better image quality?

Yes but most likely you will purchase the xa60 now instead of the ax40 !
bonjour même si j ai cette caméra Canon XA40 pour faire du tournage, mais je n'arrive pas à touver le moyen pour faire des photos, je ne vois pas comment déclencher, par quel bouton ou touche, j'ai beau chercher sur la notice, c'est assez vague. Merci.

The line-up looks good, just a quick question do these camcorders have a lanc port, I have an older consumer grade S- series canon and find for tripod work the wired remote to be essential

Could you film yourself with the XA 40 / XA 50 with these camcorders? You only find footage on TH-cam where people film outside some squirrels or landscapes. Would be great to see some footage like this scene, where the camcorder is filming a person. Is it a good camera for TH-camrs?
Another question: There is no App for these camcorders. Will it auto-focus and find your face, or do you need someone behind the cam to adjust everything?
does the screen on the XA50 a touchscreen as well?

It is about time that the manufacturers upgrade their fixed lens video cameras. 8K is here and we are still looking at 3-4 year old tech. I prefer a real video camera over a DSLR.

That is an option but you were finding them from 3rd party sellers. I just ordered a NEW one directly from Amazon.

Almost the same features as you´ll get in a Fuji X-T3 - but the Fuji lacks the nice carry handle and the fixed lens of the Canon Camcorder.
and flip screen, if only the fuji's had a flip screen!

where is the massive zoom???
From what I understand the bigger the CMOS sensor the more the zoom usually goes down.
XA50 records 4K at 30fps. I know that because I was gifted one and it's still new in the box. A $2200 camcorder because everybody dropped camcorders in the 90s. In the 80s they were like smartphone at a soccer game.
EVERYBODY didn't drop shit. I just ordered the XA50 in 2022... Nothing beats a camcorder for video.

Pointless video cameras 🤷🏼♂️ technology is also rubbish. Autel evo drone can video 4K at 60 fpm and it’s 10 bit.
If you buy these, girls will laugh at your tiny sensor. The only thing you'll be isolating will be yourself (involuntarily).
It's not all about size ;) KH
