Lyrics:
[Note: cover of Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm" with lyric changes]
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more
No, I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more
Well, I wake up in the morning, fold my hands, and pray for rain
I got a head full of ideas that are drivin' me insane
It's a shame, the way she makes me
Scrub the floor
I ain't gonna work on, nah
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more
Nah, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more
Well, he hands you a nickel, and he hands you a dime
And he asks you with a grin, if you're havin' a good time
Then he fines you every time you slam the door
I ain't gonna work for, nah
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more
Well, he puts his cigar out in your face just for kicks
His bedroom window, it is made out of bricks
The National Guard .stands around his door
I ain't gonna work for, nah
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more
Well, she talks to all the servants about man and God and law
And everybody says she's the brains behind ma
She's sixty-eight but she says she's twenty-four
I ain't gonna work for, nah
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more
[Guitar riff]
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more
No, I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more
Well, I try my best to be just like I am
But everybody wants you
To be just like them
They sing while they slave, and I just get bored
I ain't gonna work on, nah
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more

Bob Dylan's version is passive-aggressive while RATM's version is just aggressive. I like it.
Fuck yeah they’re like “take it and eat it”
This is weak! 0 aggression legit a whiny teenager bitching about having to work!!!
Exactly
Aggressive-Aggressive 🔥🤘🏽
@@allancastillo3483my entire life I’ve been telling people to “eat it, like it”
Or if I’m really in a shitty mood -
“Eat it, like it, suck it, fuck it”
“Well I try my best to be just like I am, but everybody wants you to be just like them”
Definitely one of my favorite lyrical lines of all time. Dylan version or RATM version, doesn’t matter. It gets me every time.
That's ironic considering they just put out a video telling people who they are (white) and what they should be ashamed of
@@nothing2see315 that's not what they said, stop being such a fragile reactionary pleb.

Rage flexed and gave this song the best cover for sure. Cheers all.

I'm angry at work and this song is all I need right now
I got a university degree & a head full of ideas that don’t matter in kitchens and warehouses. My boss forces me to work unpaid and asks me with a smirk if I’m having a good time. ❤️✊🏽❤️RATM✊🏽❤️✊🏽 Representing the Underdogs of this mean, cruel, world, Forever. ❤️✊🏽❤️
this too shall pass. Keep coming up with ideas and try new things - your day will come. I promise
Don’t forget Dylan
If you live in the U.S. I doubt that you probably have a bull shit degree or you’re not as smart as you think you are also I wouldn’t be using a symbol of communism if you don’t want to work unpaid just saying
welcome to freedom
P
Tom Morello can make a fender do these unbelievable sounds leaving you saying is that a guitar? The arrangements Rage Against The Machine did were phenomenal. They were way ahead of their time.
Even though they stole their sound from urban dance squad
@@GodWeenSatan their entire sound is based off the same influences of Urban Dance Squad, hip hop and rock, and they're both within the same sort of genre when it comes to their sound
It's like saying Iron Maiden stole their sound from Black Sabbath
He plays like 2 secs and you can hear its him....
I love how he kept it up with Audioslave too, I still remember in the liner notes of their self-titled album there was a disclaimer saying all sounds on this album were made with guiter, bass, and drums only :D
@@LaserGadgets yeah
One of best outros ever in music history
the outro ain't gonna work for Maggie's farm no more.....
Damn ur fucking right
bob dylan wrote this, RATM added the spine, muscle, grit, sweat and anger.
Listen to "A murder most Foul" by Dylan. He spits.
They didn't add shit. I love their version but Fuck Right Off. This is Bob all over... and he's a savage
These guys are the Bob Dylan of metal.
This song is more relevant than ever, I listened to their songs when I was a teenager, never really understood them until I became an adult and worked for some years. Now I understand completely what RATM is talking about. I think bands like this, System of a down, is the reason why I have such radical ideas now.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Exactly the same dude, used to love the tunes for the sound but now I'm older I can hear what they're talking about. There's another band which I've listened to for years but no-one knows them which is a sadness, I feel they're kind of a RATM and Beastie Boys mash up.
Link here for anyone interested, wicked album, used to listen while riding my BMX and mountain bikes as a kid.

Rage and System have turned many a people socialist lol
More than 7 million U.S. men, ages 18-56 are out of work, and there is no sign of returning. The numbers have probably gone up, and who knows what the real number is, but we are tired. Fuck Maggie's Farm!
Maggie’s farm is this song about a sharecropper and how he’s being taken advantage of by everybody in the house
one of the best riffs of all time! damn!
underrated
My all time favorite band, I get to see them for the first time live at the Tacoma Dome in April, 2022 with my wife :) Rock on y'all.
OMG, so lucky!!!! Have so much fun.
They still requiring everyone to show proof of vaccination? Something i never would have thought I'd hear RATM do... require their fans to adhere to experimental jabs sponsored and pushed by the government. Everyone bows down when you mess with their money, though, I guess. Literally goes against everything they claimed they "stood" for. Now they are the ones doing what they told ya...
@@danielmeekWECC I have never been carded anywhere for a vax card. I'm praying my wife can still get in. Spending this kind of money for two tickets 💯

As dope as it is, half of you don't even realise it's a cover they did 20 years ago. Just proving how timeless and incredible Rage are!!!
This is actually a Bob Dylan song that came out over 45 years ago. Further proving how timeless the man himself really is.
@@carllinnaeus4447 'It's a cover'... Sorry I failed to mentioned by who but... Bob Dylan sold his soul to the the devil and that's only reason he's timeless and still alive.
@@ashleighyoung5076 I can’t find any evidence to the contrary 🤷🏼♂️
@@carllinnaeus4447 I know, you won't... He admitted to it in an interview himself. My son's middle name is Dylan after Bob so I only pray he's renounced the devil and we have been left with the beautiful soul he once was, but I haven't been able to listen to his music since that confession.

I love how Bob Dylan’s version sounds like a disgruntled, under paid work is singing it and RATM sounds like “kill whitey”. Both versions are awesome in their own way.
As a fellow white man. It's time the super rich are held somewhat accountable.
@@robertdurden8420 I'm glad you can see that it isn't per se a race thing, money hungry leeches come in all colors.
Zack brought the anger and frustration into Dylan's writing. This is the best version in my opinion but I can see the "kill whitey" aspect. And it's honestly understandable to a degree.
Agreed. Dylan also delivers it with a bit of humor, alongside the anti-oppression. It's easy to see how he was a likely inspiration. Both great songs!

How do rage against anything when most of your political views is shared by Coke, Google, Amazon and (inserts major cooperation)
@@anonymousanonymous-cl8nr They use it because most people agree with anti-racism, people like you lose their minds about it and give them free advertising. Quite bold of you to think they actually practice what they preach. Coca Cola literally killed union members in Colombia in 2003.
@@anonymousanonymous-cl8nr Ultimately, I think, you fail to recognize the difference between basic "don't be a racist" messaging that you see in advertising and calling for structural change to address systemic racism.
