  • Another great day along The John Muir Way!
We left our accommodations, Park Hotel, and headed to the Callendar House, through Falkirk. We took our time through the cobblestone roads of town and even found a Geocache (GCAB9BP The Kings Court Curiosity)
Upon our arrival at Callendar House, we discovered that they are closed on Tuesdays, and, yes, today was Tuesday…. That didn’t dampen our enthusiasm… we enjoyed a walk around and a ‘ride’ in the mini zip line!!
Oh, and nothing could dampen our enthusiasm today; the SUN WAS OUT!!!
Our walk along the Union Canal brought us to The Bridge 49 Cafe! It was a nice respite from our walk.
We soon walked down from the Canal to the River Avon into the town of Linlithgow!
A pint of Tennants at Platform 3 marked the end of our day’s walk.
A visit to Linlithgow Palace (the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots) was a great bit of history.
Our stay at the Court Residence ( www.courtresid... ) was fantastic!!
Our next edition of Dirt Road Traveller takes us from Linlithgow to South Queensferry
Watch for our entire series on The John Muir Way!

I live in the area (I'm originally from Linlithgow and now live near Falkirk) and its very cool to see someone else's perspective on places that I'm so familiar with and see most days. really enjoyed the vid, hope you had a great time here.

Thanks so much for the feedback!! We try very hard to just be us!! And, if you’re up for it, that zip line swing at Callendar House is a blast!!! 💥

It's pronounced Linlithgo. The W is not pronounced. Just as Glasgow is pronounced Glasgo. However, Loch Lomond is pronounced Loch Lowmend. Next week's lesson will be Milngavie and Culross.

Thanks…. Yes, there were some challenges with names….. in a few episodes you’ll see I learned the W in Berwick is silent!
