    Enjoying your videos. Have you ever covered any 3do stuff?

      I haven't yet. I've always wanted to check one out, but I've never played one.

      I am not sure if I love it for nostalgia or not, but it's one of my favorite systems. I've been messing around with an Atari Jaguar a bit. Double Dragon V was released on the Jaguar. I am not a huge fan of that game, but I have been wanting to pick up a Jag copy to see how it compares to other systems.

    Loved the music, backgrounds and settings. The fighting is much more technical than your average side scroller beat em up. I always loved trying to arm lock the enemies and get them lined up to be thrown down the holes in the later levels.

    SMS version is my first and favorite.

    I enjoyed this game, granted the lagging issues when multiple enemies were on the screen could be frustrating at times but it wasn't too bad. The difficulty was tough, because the Enemy AI was very impressive to the point that even the common enemies could take you down if you're not careful.

    I loved this game. Much better than all other DD games.
    I wish they released it with improved graphics and music

    I'm not a huge fan but I'd say DD 2 on the NES is probably my favorite for nostalgic reasons, that was one of the last games I played with my brother 2 players before he passed away.

      Lol yeah, only way to get true ending is playing double dragon 2 on the hardest difficulty which is supreme master I believe

      one tip, start the game 2 players B where you can beat each other, then with player 1 beat up player2 and you steal the lives, so you have 8 in total!

    I used to rent this one all the time. I still need to beat the first one on NES at somepoint.

    Unlike other beat em up games, this game needed some sort of health pickups.

    I have never played this one. To be honest I can't recall it at all, will have to seek one out or see if its on my modded Wii!

    Great review Joe! But I can't help but wonder when that GI Joe NES review is coming from that lot of 14 NES games I donated 2 years ago! 😆

      Joe Goes Retro it really has been a pleasure watching your channel grow and to watch your content improve and your confidence grow! Keep up the awesomeness. I'm going to go in a corner somewhere and watch the GI Joe review with embarrassment as my only company 😁

    Awesome! was waiting for this once since you mentioned it awhile back. The NES Double Dragons weren't my 'cup of tea' but I really like the looks of this game. Plus wouldn't mine having a few Super Famicom games. Thanks for another great recommendation!

    • @joegoesretro
      @joegoesretro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +GAMETIMEwithKyle it's paced a bit differently than pretty much every beat em up out there. But the more I think about it, the more I think the slower pace was intentional to accommodate the counter attack mechanic.

    Hey Joe... do you own the NES game XEXYZ? If so, have you played it? I think it's a hidden gem. And one of the best shooters on the system is Dragon Spirit: The New Legend... any chance we could see a review for one or both of those in the future?

    • @joegoesretro
      @joegoesretro  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm on the lookout for a copy of XEXYZ, but probably have the ROM. I have Dragon Spirit, though. I'd absolutely love to take a look at both of them sometime in the future. It's been awhile since I played a good shooter!

    • @GrannySingaporePVP
      @GrannySingaporePVP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dragon Spirit is amazing. It's a fresh take on the shooter genre. Instead of a space ship you play as a dragon (overhead view). Here's a hint though. Before the title screen as soon as the game boots up you are thrown straight into a boss battle (I believe it is the final boss from the previous entry in the series). If you defeat him you must play the game as the Blue Dragon and play through every level in the game. If you die, you play the game as the Gold Dragon and play the odd-numbered levels. The gold dragon has 2 life bars and the blue dragon has one.

    • @GrannySingaporePVP
      @GrannySingaporePVP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Goes Retro plus.. I will keep an eye out for xexyz. If I find a copy for a reasonable price I'll be sure to send it to ya

      I've had both the Famicom and NES versions for some time, and I still haven't checked it out. I'm have to fix that. That little trick sounds like it could be a huge help!

    I watched the hell out of that cartoon...and I remember seeing the movie in the theaters and loving it...until I grew up and realized it was terrible.

    Is there any point in having a big score in this game other than having a high record? There's a couple of ways to get a lot of score by glitchs and infinite stun punches. When you beat the game, you don't really get rewarded for anything. I feel that having a big score is not really worth worrying about... lmk, thx.
