Crash N the Boys is an NES game I had never heard of until now! Definitely going to check it out.
Get the Double Dragon & Kunio Kun Retro Brawler Bundle on Nintendo Switch if you own one. Crash and The Boys and it’s sequels are included in that bundle.
Were you thinking the comic series Scott Pilgrim made it up?
As much fun as I had with it as a kid, I don't think it's aged particularly well. The controls for a couple of the events are kind of janky, and a turbo controller is highly recommended for the golf and fighting games. Way too much button mashing required otherwise.
I remember watching your playthrough and your review of Spider Man and the X-Men review video almost a year ago, so many ups and downs. I also remember the Spider Man and the X-Men cartoons when I was young, great times there. I also remember the AVGN review videos with the LJN games, including this game too, they’re legendary. If there’s anything he’s taught us over the years, you see the LJN logo; run, and don’t look back.
He never mentioned that they were new

Crash 'N' The Boys is an underrated classic, Arc System Works should look into a re-release.
Absolutely, I want to play it. May have to grab the rom since there is no other option without a NES. I would buy it digital though.

I got the Super Nintendo version on sale for $19.99 at Toys R Us. I thought I got a good deal, then after playing it I realized why.
I was so geeked when Spiderman and the X-Men came out and Gambit was in it. Then I played it, and I threw the damn cartridge out the window lol Not really but I did take it back to the video store and never rented it again lol

easiest way to tell that the X-Men/Spider-Man game wasn’t inspired by the shows: the character designs. Wolverine and Cyclops are wearing different outfits than they wore in the show, they’re wearing pre-Leifeld uniforms in the game putting it as being done in late 1989 at most but likely early 1989/late 1988

That X-Men game looked like pure suffering from the playthrough you did.

5:33. Looking at “red guy” here. He looks a lot like “gogul” from cybercity 808. And if you have never seen that anime I highly recommend it. Unfortunately it’s only 3 episodes.

Holy shit. I hate NES, but Crash N The Boys looks fucking awesome.
The game was made based on the massive popularity of the comics at the time. X-Men#1 and Spiderman#1 were the best selling comics of all time at that point. Dig deeper next time. I like the videos otherwise but now I'm going to scrutinize the history and research more ;)
This game pissed me off so hard whenever I tried to play it. It's way too hard for my taste, or maybe I'm just too bad.

Except I found out the REAL reason they got this out, and it's not good. However, if this fails, Zaslav has the Snyderverse in his back pocket.
