The idea is good, but then new problems arise. I have a 200 liter, 53 gallon barrel for gas. After a little over 100 hours of operation, the low-oil switch tripped and switched off the generator. After that my booth was cold. How can you now ensure that the engine has enough engine oil available over a longer period of time?
I did this with both my generators running on parallel off a 5 gallon marine tank.... Except i added a filter on the main line coming offthe tank....Its a great idea and i have used it with my RV when dry camping
We're thinking of using two EU2200i's in parallel to get 4,400watts. I was going to use two of these caps shown and just tee into one line. We're going to place the two gens in the same compartment where the built-in Kohler used to be and just go back into the RV gas tank like originally. From what I gather both the gens have a fuel pump or at least a diaphragm carb that will lift gas a ft and a half or so max. I don't see any issues using a primer bulb like he shows and your idea of a fuel filter would be great as well?
Try using that fuel hose in -20 deg C. You will find that fittings on connector as well as fuel hand pump will form a vacuum leak. My did. I replaced hose with automobile fuel hose. All fittings I put gas tank sealer on. And quick connect I put another oring plus lots of heavy grease. Also I installed a 1/8 ID copper tube from brass fitting into tank. Sealed this into brass quick connect fitting with same gas tank sealent. This allows one to open fuel cap, and pump all the air out with out having fuel everywhere.
Bleed the fuel line before joy connect it to the generator. If you connect the line and it’s full of air when you pump the primer bulb you’re trying to push the air in the line into the generator tank but the air has no way of venting out to make room for the fuel coming in. Prime the line then connect it to the generator and it should work like a charm.
Must be a way to reconcile that with some sort of venting....just venting until the air has escaped and then shutting off the vent? It would logically be built into these replacement caps.
Look up (five oceans 6 gallon portable fuel tank kit universal, OMC, Johnson, Evinrude, Yamaha, and mercury) on Amazon. He modified the brass nipple fitting to fasten to a Honda extended fuel cap. Then used a huge gas tank. My outboard boat motor has the same fuel system.
Gasoline cannot eat Teflon. That is not possible. If the tape dissolves in any consumer hydrocarbon then it is not Teflon. That yellow tape is Teflon thicker for gas tight connections than for water connections.If it leaks or shreds clogging the filter... that's operator/installer error. Hint: when your poorly installed fitting leaks you need to remove ALL the old tape so you don't clog your fuel filter. Remember, the Chinese have a very hard time with NPT fittings because they are not metric.
I really liked your setup for the extended fuel tank...especially the locking cap assembly...!Might you be able to share better part descriptions and/or part numbers - for those of us that might go online and try to purchase the various pieces to build one ourselves...?
I have a honda EU 2200 on my boat and would like to hook it up to my main boat tank. The tank is about 3 feet below the generator. Would anybody know how many feet the built in fuel pump of the honda is capable of pumping up fuel vertically ? Thanks!
My question is why not run an auxiliary clicker type fuel pump? And you can simply turn it on and fill up the generators internal tank as required. I doubt you're going to be leaving it running unattended on the boat for 4 hours+.
one thing to think about when you put it away for a few months without using the tank and gen-. the gas in the fuel line goes "sour", SO - - be sure to "purge" the gas line to get rid of the stale gas before hooking it up, _- - just in the fuel line ! there is only - like a tablespoon of gas in the line, - it will make it hard to get the gen- going with the stale gas to go through the line /carb/- until fresh gas gets to the carb. I found out years ago with the Honda 110 - 3 wheeler I bought, then I drained the stale gas out of the line, pulled the cord- - the 3rd time it was running,- just saying if it doesn't start after sitting for the season - you may have to drain the carb bowl- . Otherwise put - like "Sta-bil" or "sea foam" in the gas, - run it a while to get it into the system, then shut it down for the season.
I'm interested in your comment. I suppose this is from your experience? What do you feel causes the problem, is it a dirty nurse tank? Would a filter in the line help?

here's a quick fix. fill the gen to the top, plug the cap onto the quick connector, pump the bulb till gas comes out, disconnect the cap and install it on the generator, plug the line into the cap once again. now the tank and line are full- if no leak in the suction side it should pull the gas. ps: make sure your gas tank has a stand pipe inside and reaches to the gas.

I have the Hutch Mountain propane/natural gas kit on mine. It looks clean and performs great. I like having the choice of three fuel sources!

What gasket do you use for your extended run gas cap? I have never have seen one that would hold up for more than a week without creating Gas leak

You mentioned that you empty the tank into your truck every few months. How are you doing that? Do you have a hose adapted to pump into a vehicle?
The hardest part about producing video is audio and this video proves it.

You should bypass your gas tank with a with aT fitting. And then use your Yamaha gas fitting for Connection
Fill the generator tank first. If you keep pumping that primer bulb you’re forcing fuel into the generator tank but the air in the tank can’t get out.
