- Happy Flint and Steel Saturday!
Today i am testing Batch 2
of my Natural Hardwood Ash Lye, using Soft Water.(Rain Water)
Roughly my Camping Pot holds 4 litres of Water. i filled this with 1/2 a Third Charcoal, and 1/2 a Third Hardwood Ash.
So basically 1/3rd of my pot was Ash and Charcoal Combined. i filled with Rain Water and Brought it to a boil and simmered this mixture for 34 mins. i then let this mixture sit for a week. then i strained it and soaked my pre- made stretched Amadou from a New Zealand Artist Conk Polypore. 🌏🍄🌿🌿🌿in my Natural Ash Lye Solution for about 7 days. this video shows the results of how reactive it is, compared to batch 1
Feel free to give your feedback, comments or Questions in the comment section please. This Video is intended to help people make the best reactive and reliable igniting amadou without using Salt Peter. a big THANKYOU to Tyst Dod from Wisconsin USA who has been experimenting with Soft Water Lye Techniques. I am still learning. I am no expert. I am a Backyard Fire Making Amateur. Thankyou Facebook, You Tube, and the Many People that have helped me in this Journey.😝👊
Happy Flint and Steel Saturday Jason
Happy, happy, happy happy flint and steel Saturday Jason. Congrats the professor is in the house. Wow, the last 10 or so videos have been amazing, informative, well explained and just plain awesome. Be proud my friend. You done good kid. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Thanks Tony. My main motivation was to help people who can't get access to salt peter. I am actually surprised and think i might prefer this to salt peter. It's cheap easy and effective. Plus renewable.😊👍 really appreciate your kind and encouraging comments. Hope this helps you up there. Hope you are having a measure of good health. Keep it Burning Tony.😝👊💥💥💥🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🍺🍻🍺🍺🌞🌞🌞
Good video Jason , thanks for sharing YAH bless brother !
great video, love that striker too, take care
very cool Jason
Thanks Dean. I Think i have perfected the right mix for the Ash lye. I also Think letting it sit longer can't hurt. Or soaking it longer. It's doesn't have to be a race. I am interested to see how the 2nd batch, Batch 2 liquid goes with the Bulrush. I might try Punkwood in Batch 2 aswell. The Beauty is keep Using the liquid til it's gone. And i like that there's no Salt Peter. So being able to replicate that is cool. I might try cotton balls, denium cotton Jeans, and other fibers. Make the most of left over Liquid. Thanks for Stopping By Dean. Been loving your video's. 😊👍
