Good vid it's the first one I've seen on ferro rods. I have more knives than I actually use . LOL. I have been using Bayrite rods from the beginning of my journey. I have one attached to every large knife own and I make my own strikers out of sq. HHS tool blanks and I make my own handles. They seem to work well. I prefer the softer rods. Being 71 my fingers don't work well anymore and small things are hard to use now. Good work man !

I am sorry to say that the worst seemed to be Dave Canerberry"s. Not because I am a Murican, but because it shows that when you spout-off so often about how good your country is and then have to get your merchandise made elsewhere only for it to fail.

Amazing how many people use ferro rods backwards! Hold the knife/scraper steady and aim the sparks at a SPECIFIC target, then pull the ferro rod out from under the blade and it will shoot ALL the spark straight into that spot. Try it and you'll quickly see what I mean.

My first Ferro rod was the Pathfinder by Dave Canterbury, it works for me but I had nothing to compare it to. I just bought the Ferro Fire and it works too, it seemed to have a heavier coating on it that took more effort and time to scrape off and I have been trying different tools for a striker - knife, back of saw, etc. I think it’s going to be OK.

Happy fat wood Friday Jason. Dom definitely has some good fat wood down there. We’ve got some nice stuff here too,I dug up a stuff out back here and the wood shaves like wax and is reddish in color. happy fire it up Friday Jason, I have found with the fire piston, do not leave the piston with the ember in the tube at the bottom of the stroke for any length of time, hopefully, it's burning and you are allowing it to burn up the available O2 and you have to get the piston out as fast as possible. So do your shot and get the piston out straight away.
