Great series, really glad to see Dark use underused tools such as drops and burrow harass. It shows there are still many innovative strategies yet to discover to shake things up.
even in that longer mech game from maru, dark kept investing in the low value units to minimize his army cost and make ghost not justifiable, simply because having ghost sniping roaches/ravagers while getting rushed with ling/bane with the help of hosts, i mean that just aint gonna cut it cost wise, you need zerg to lose way more than that and dark never gave maru that, and it worked great.
@@garryarganis5801 Yeah, Maru saw Dark went with the mass ling bane style, double evol and 3 macro hatches, all he needed to do was to build shit load of Tanks and Mines, and start making sim city around the base. He failed to make the change for it and it cost him this match.
Dark is not yet "zergy" minded, he lost two consecutive games playing zerg with a protoss mindset, if he was able to "adapt" instead of repeating something that doesn't work, the series ended 4-1 not 4-3

Dark did something that alot of zerg players overlook. And that is being aggressive, harass, and attack early in the game. Usually its only terran and protoss that does the harassing. Maru got caught off guard by those early attacks. And especially for maru, who is an expert at terran harass, was not ready to defend because he planned on being the attacker instead of the defender.
I am a Maru fan but I have to call BS on this, how hard is it to build a spoting Reaper/Helion for these kind of Zergling runby. To me its about the reaction and set up. There is no excuse if you cant raise the wall in time for it.

Most Z don't get aggressive because it loses *way* more games than it wins. Maru repeatedly left his depots down and didn't wall off his thirds, then pride marched everything to the nearest creep tumor he could find. Diamond players will wall off as soon as their army leaves and reinforcements will pile up behind the depots to protect them. Getting aggressive means sacrificing drones to build zerglings that are typically useless vs hellions, critical mass of marines, banshees and libs. And then not being able to attack with them. It's only at the very pinnacle where Maru cuts these extreme kinds of corners that you can even find a use for the extra lings. At any other level, you're better off with an extra base as long as you can successfully defend.
Only on creep but that's kinda the whole point of the matchup I think.. The problem might be in Terran having to target-fire a lot of stuff but if add more splash to the Terran then Zerg needs something of an earlier tank-damage unit in return to be more aggressive
@@mark11tz Yeah, but if you want to shift the game ot TvZ back into midgame, you need to nerf Ghost and buff something else from Terran side to make that more feasible. As things are right now, Terran cant reallly fight Zerg in early and mid game, Zerg can just expand, upgrade while defending everything unless Terran player go for an all-in type of pressure.

Making adjustment on Thor and buff something (mech) else can avoid the impact on TvP and mid game TvZ. The problem about the unhealthiness is that winning in "that (ultra passive turtle)" way is unhealthy. Similar problem happens to late game ZvP in pro level. Protoss has to beat Zerg before the ultimate Zerg army comes out in super late game (unhealthy again). However, at least the army of the turtle side (Zerg) is harder to control than the scenario happens to TvZ (Thor + ghost no need stim any more).
Game 3 was so tense. Feel bad for Dark losing that game when he played a beautiful game up until the end. He just needed to live and he would have out sustained him once he had him below 30 workers, but he continued to throw his bane/ling for more workers. Edit: What a finish.

Deserved victory with how dark has been playing. Amazing eco dmg (maybe a bit too much in that one game). Maru always looked so all in because his scv count was always so decimated. Fantastic final :)

I think Zerg does have a slight advantage over the other races, but I also think Dark outplayed Maru in these finals. I think Maru was probably tired after playing long, technically demanding matches against Reynor and HeroMarine. That exhaustion, plus nerves, probably factored into Maru's mistakes. I think weekender formats can be brutal for this reason alone, especially for Terrans with shoulder/wrist issues.

Its obvious developer bias because queens should cost a significant amount of gas, banes should be lair tech at earliest, and other units should've been made to fill the weaknesses changing that would create. Dark played so well in game 7. He got completely blindsided by the proxy. Doesn't even attempt to save the hatch, which I think is exactly what Maru wanted him to do. All he really lost here was 350 minerals, and sure the expo was a bit delayed, but Maru had to delay his own to do that push. It looked like he quickly calculated exactly where Maru would have to be at, and managed to keep droning through the pressure while making the exact right number of lings and not even throwing down a spine. Then followed it up with an unorthodox timing push that was entirely dependent on the circumstances of this one game. That calm composure is what makes champions kiddos. Or so I imagine from watching the titans.
I wish you didn't cut these so precisely, include the pre game discussion and interviews as well. It's easy to skip and masks the game length as well.... It's not easy to watch these on twitch VODs so this is all we have.

Yet another Zerg win. At least it wasn't a ZvZ final again. I guess they didn't want to make it too obvious that it's almost impossible for the other races to win, and the rest of the Zergs had a weekend off. The last 12 months: 12 tournaments to Zerg, 5 Terran, 1 Protoss. And people wonder why they are haemorrhaging players and viewers.
I'd look sour if you're playing a 3 race game and one race has 12 wins compared to only 6 for the other 2 races in the last year. No different to previous years. Whats the point of fighting an uphill battle, may as well just go into military service than wait for a patch that never comes. The next patch will be more nerfs to T & P because Maru dared to get 3 games back and a Protoss dared to get into the semi finals. We all know it should be ZvZ semi finals and finals.

Havent seen the last game yet, but as I can see the marine is OP as a tier 1 unit. Roaches and lings melt like butter on a hot knife. Hope that game 7 will be as good, but I cheer for Dark. Go Dark!
g1 close to my preferred style zvt slow lings(!), fast banes, focus on 1/1 or 2/2 upgrades, then into infestor, viper slow lings do much better to shepherd fast banes into good targets IMO
So are Korean players and international (NA/EU) players all playing together now in global tournaments, rather than South Koreans just playing in GSL, and EU/NA in their own tourneys? I haven't followed the competitive sc2 scene for more than a decade.
Maru showed zero expression or emotion after game 7 loss, can you imagine if it was Creator? they'd need new keyboard, mouse, headset, monitor and probably new tables too.
WHy no build his ego chamber in one of his deeper protected bases? I get if you use buildings partly for blocking space, but that seems like an odd choice, no?

It was funny watching Maru play Reynor, he was totally calm and non-plussed the entire time. Here, against Dark, he looks agitated.
He’s tired of losing to Serral/Rogue/Reynor/Dark.
This is his livelihood, after all.
Reynor play into Maru strength, which is the late game. Dark having none of that, he flat out trying to kill Maru before it reaches lategame.

zerg is still broken. How many more times do we have to see the replay of zerg rolling in banes to wipe out bases in a matter of seconds? Its stupid.

Havent seen the last game yet, but as I can see the marine is OP as a tier 1 unit. Roaches and lings melt like butter on a hot knife. Hope that game 7 will be as good, but I cheer for Dark. Go Dark!

slow lings(!), fast banes, focus on 1/1 or 2/2 upgrades, then into infestor, viper
slow lings do much better to shepherd fast banes into good targets IMO
