I typically always forget to run a trial printing until I’ve already messed up several times on the good paper. I’ll have to remember to do it in the reverse order to save myself some frustration!😅
The toner being the adhesive made me think of what else could be used instead of foil, and I tried with royal gold mica powder, it works, looks beautiful, but takes four times through a basic 12" laminator, a Minc on the highest setting would probably be much better for this. it takes a very light coating, and I used a makeup brush for the powder application. With it working with mica powder, you could probably use any fine powder, there is even glitter dust that would probably work.

Hi. I am new to foiling. This video is amazing and clarified so many questions I had. Tx. I wonder if you can foil vellum or acetate in Minc and what setting? Can you re run a foiled image that missed black spots? Are Transfer sheet and toner sheet the same? Finally, do you think it’s possible to reuse discarded toner from a toner cartridge as powder over a Sticky stamped image and foil in Minc? Tx much.
I found out the hard and long way that some papers do not work, I am trying to make my son and FDIL wedding invitations, I had them printed on glossy paper at the print shop, NOPE not working, I tried metalique was ok but not the best. I finally got it right using semi gloss paper and Minc foil. :) and of course my local stores do not have the gold foil, so Amazon here I come.

I don't know if there are newer models & whether I need to buy 1 (not really in my budget as extra $ currently goes for hubby's cancer meds.). Also my fax machine is also a laser printer so I think it's ok to use that (it's a Brother but I don't know what the dpi rating is).
Love it, but what about black paper for wedding invites? I was told by the Office Depot lady ( where I am printing the invites) NOT TO GET SUCH A THIN PAPER ( 65 lbs)... she said wedding invitations need to be around 100 lbs. 😢
Traditionally wedding invites should be thicker, unless you are trying to foil them from home. You can always print & foil in 65lb and then layer onto a thicker card base. You wouldn't just print and fold the card. Layers make it elegant. Maybe put a piece of vellum in between.
