  • I answer your questions on toner/minc foiling vs. Hot Foiling systems. The first 90 mins is on toner/minc foiling and the last 90 mins is on Hot Foiling systems like the Foil Quill, Gemini FoilPress and Spellbinders Glimmer machines. Thank you for your video. I am new to foiling, have not yet bought a machine. I am in the UK and am looking at buying the Gemini Junior and foil press. But want to learn as much as I can as my funds are limited and I hate to waste my funds for crafting. So I loved your video, learning as much as I can about foiling. Loved your referenced to products and machines available in the UK. That has been invaluable advice for me. Very comprehensive. Thank you for your sound advice. 😊❤️

    This was absolutely fun! I don’t know how your video showed up on my feed but I watched it and I was mesmerized! I do wood products and signs and wreaths, and actually a little bit of everything but I’ve never done foiling. Paper was my first love years ago and still is today but I’m trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my woodworking and such. You’re an excellent teacher, you did such a detailed job that I’m very tempted to look more into this type of craft. I’ll be checking some more of your videos. 🙂

    Love this video and the second video, saved both of them. First thing I did was run up to see which minic machine, yay, it a HS with the dots, cost $30.00 from TM many years ago. LOL, I also have a hundred todo dies and a gopress and foil. Oh well. I did fabric foiling with deco foils many, many years ago (it was a fad) in the 90's. I did purchase the "duo transfer gel" I haven't a lot of foiling but it is fun. I will join your group, sounds like fun. I think I have every color of deco foil. lol Great videos and so much information. Got too many machines to buy a new gemini. Happy Crafting!!!

    By chance, I saw your thumbnail for this video and immediately had to click on it. This is such an educational video, Nancy! I can't tell you how much I learned from you. One thing I wanted you to know is this. About a year after the Minc Mama came out, I emailed Heidi herself to ask her how many rollers were in the Minc and she replied that there were 4 in total. Most laminators you buy have 2 rollers so that fact convinced me to purchase the Minc. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, Nancy? No matter, I just wanted to give you a huge THANK YOU (I am now a new subbie)

    • @NancyStamps

    Love this video, taught me a lot about foiling. In your opinion does the Cricut Foil Pen do a better job than the Deco Foil Pen? Also I tried to find the pretty brush you used to dust the foil in your Amazon store. Am I overlooking it or is it out of stock? If I am going to start dusty dusty then I want a pretty brush! Thanks

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      amzn.to/3vgDucg is the link for the brush.
      The cricut pen works with pressure to make the foil stick. The other is a glue pen. You wait for the glue to dry tacky and then burnish your foil on. Two different ways to apply foil.

    Hi Nancy, I’m new to foiling and purchased both the Quill foiling tools and the cricut foiling tools. When I purchased these I also purchased quite a range of different coloured W R Memory Rolls Of Heat Activated Foils. A couple of weeks ago I also purchased the Minc Foiling machine and thought the W R Memory foil would work in the minc machine with it being heat activator foil, however the end results has been awful! I’ve tried each several heat settings on the minc machine, but they all have the same awful result! Is there a reason why the W R Memories foil doesn’t work with the minc machine or am I doing something wrong?
    I really appreciate your advice.
    Annette

      WRMK is heat activated foil which has an adhesive built it. Not designed to work with the Minc because it will stick to everything. I have videos on "hot foiling" that explain it better. You need to buy Minc or toner foil for the Minc and HOT FOIL for the foil quill and cricut.

    Minc doesn't seem to be available for purchase. What else can I use for toner foiling?

    Thank you so much for all of your information, it was very helpful! I do have 1 question, when you use Deco Duo and let it dry for 24 hours, how long does that last? Can I set it aside and foil 2 weeks later? Does it loose it’s effectiveness?

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can set it aside, no it doesn't lose effect, but keep it protected, it stays tacky

    I have some H &H toner foils, and when cutting your rolls with the chop saw, what kind of blade do you use? Does any of the foil get damaged in the process? Thanks

      Tape with washi tape 6 1/4" in from the ends. Then cut in the middle. There is some minor fraying sometimes.

    I purchased some toner cards to foil over. I have foil on the blank areas as well. How do I prevent them from going on the paper and only going on the image? Thank you so much!

      Check your foil, I suspect you could be using HOT FOIL, instead of toner foils? Or your heat is too hot.

    Thank you, Thank you for this Great tutorial. I have so much Deco foil and don't know what to do with it. I will try the laminator first then I might invest in the Minc. THANKS AGAIN ❤️❤️❤️

      I bought and used a laminator for years. It worked fine. I had a birthday this last year and my husband found the Minc, on sale. He purchased it for me. It works better than the laminator for me. I believe there are 2 rollers in it, not one, and it gets hotter as well. The laminator is not bad, just not as good. So, u have to consider will u foil often? Will u have enough budget? If u r unsure, I would start with laminator because it is so inexpensive and find out. Good luck!

    Reply Also just found out the the pads do not last even when not used. They dry out and crack making them unusable. I just threw away four packs of 2 pads.

    QUESTION: on the foil from Creative Vision will it foil on a foil press and for toner-based cards?

    • @NancyStamps
      @NancyStamps  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Creative Vision Stamps foil was toner foil. Used for the minc or laminator. Not hot foiling

    Hi Nancy! Really enjoyed this presentation.
    I’d like to say for Aussies, join the spotlight club as they send out 40% off discounts regularly and the minc machine is really affordable that way.
    Secondly couture creations makes the go press and foil and I’ve never had a problem using the gopower and emboss with the couture creations foil press. No over foiling or anything!
    I’ve also used my couture creations foil with toner and minc with no problems! It’s probably not recommended, but I’ve had great results! However, I can’t use minc foil with the press! ( which everyone probably already knows!)
    Happy new year Nancy and foiling snobs!
