Hold up there, as clover is extremely prominent in pastures as it’s loved by grazing animals, especially horses, spreads like wildfire, it’s drought tolerant and it’s a cheap perennial that provides more than just leafy green material for grazing and it never gets tall enough to hide predators even if it’s left unchecked. So, it’s been the go-to ground cover for ranchers and farmers in their pastures and empty fields for generations now. I’d consider it a common problem that comes with seeding turf grass over an old pasture, probably the most common long term problem with it as well. As opposed to thinking it came in the bag of k31 kinda thing. While you could get about any type of undesirable seed imaginable in cheap k31, you are simply not going to get enough of them in your grass seed to take over the seeded area their first year in the ground. That was definitely dormant clover popping up awakened by recent soil disruption or a sudden increase of water or nutrient availability. It happens all the time. That type of thing should be expected when changing pasture land to turf grass and that is exactly what selective pre emergents are intended for. So, yeah you probably don’t want to blame your grass seed for your clover problem in an old pasture that your converting to turf grass. 99% of people turning pastures in to lawns have that problem the first few years, no matter what grass seed they used, because it didn’t come from their bag, it came from their pasture soil. Just fight it each season and in two or three years it’ll submit to a healthy stand of turf. 👍
@@jaxturner7288 I wasn't changing it to turf, I was seeding my horse pasture. We didn't have that problem the spring before that one when I didn't overseed anything. @@lizzycarman601 no difference. Clover seeds like most seeds, can lay dormant in soil for decades until they experience conditions they find preferable and decide to germinate.
