    Bro, thank you so much for this video. I'd been having so much trouble getting the, "Jingly" bracelet off of my model 5, and didn't realize how much force I had to apply to those spring pins until seeing your video. You're a lifesaver! Changed it out for a clean black leather strap that's comfortable and it looks so much nicer.

    When I did this the spring shot off and went up my nose. It is now lodged somewhere in my brain so I had to buy a new spring 😔

  • @jamesdrichardson3447

    It's all down to the spring bars you're working with as there are different types. !!!
    If you're working on a new watch or a watch untouched from new then you should have no problems as they'll have the correct spring bars fitted which will have a double flange to the ends. The first flange prevents the bar from entering the lug too far and the second flange allows you to prise the bar open quite easily with your chosen tool.
    I've used both a spring bar removal tool and a very small watch makers screwdriver where access is very limited which is quite often the case, you'll need to take extra care with the screwdriver to prevent yourself slipping.
    Problems arise on pre owned watches where the wrong spring bars have been installed, usually without flanges, those need to be cut through or forcibly bent to free the bracelet which obviously risks damaging the watch lugs.
    Just be very careful, use a loupe or a magnifier which will make it easier if it's a struggle and try to hold the spring bar under tension until it's clear of the watch lugs.

  • @schizoidman9781

    Ya! I bent the end part trying and failing to remove my Seiko bracelet. It now makes a 'ting ting' noise as it's loose :( Their spring bars are extra hard to release and the new link pins with spring are a nightmare too. What are you doing Seiko?

      I switched bands on mine by looking at how it works, took it apart and put in new parts; gotta resize it now. R&R, just like auto repairs.
      The labor costs are what kill you if you take either to "authorized" repair places for certain items.
      You can change your own oil as easily as putting this thing together and save a bunch of money.

    The use of a screwdriver instead of the correct V tool is only for experienced watch repairers; a beginner is quite likely to scratch the watch with a screwdriver - get the correct tool - they are dirt cheap, but your watch may not be!

      Your probably gonna have to bend or break the springbars. Hold the links nearest the watch head and try and get a slim screwdriver,knife or tool in the gap between bracelet and watch head and try to twist the bracelet free. You may have to bend or break the springbars or bracelet to free it. Goodluck.

    To make it even easier , bend the band ends both sides up just a little and that will free up the strap and press them back down when finished , this will also give you more room to remove the pin , and cut a v in the end of your screw driver and thin it out to fit in to small spaces .

      @jma6412 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to use this tool to remove the SKX jubilee bracelet. The standard Bergeon 6767-F doesn't work with this one as it uses much thicker spring bars due to ISO requirements. If you do it right, it's actually quite easy. I've got a SKX009 and I haven't had any problem.
