Ok so I’m a Shiba Inu owner myself and I gotta say there should be a huge disclaimer or mention about interactions with other dogs or the fact that they shed like crazy. People gotta know that this dog is only cute in appearance and needs a little bit of aggression from the leader of the pack as they are constantly going to challenge your authority otherwise. Never hit a Shiba as they are fighting dogs and will most definitely respond with aggression until you train it out of them. A simple disengage doesn't work that well. This dog plays aggressively and has an attitude about proper dog greetings so go to the dog park at your own risk. Other than that I agree with everything she says except that you need to give this dog plenty of exercises to eliminate problematic behaviors, as this dog is intelligent enough to act out and disobey with intent. And be careful of smaller animals as they have a huge prey drive as they have been bred to have. They love to chase so you better not forget that leash or leave the front door open.
I have mobility issues that requires me to use either a walker or a wheelchair just depending on how much my hip and leg issues are bothering me. I was wondering how well do they behave on a leash both on and off
You don’t need to show aggression to your dog… your dog is going to be aggressive to others if you do. You need to be a STRONG LEADER. You should take a dog training class if if that’s hard for you. My shiba never runs away and listens all the time. If your dog doesn’t listen it’s you.
@@kamilosowski3889that’s just not true for all Shibas though. I walk my Shiba off her leash all the time. It is very common for them to be escape artists and aggressive to other dogs, but there are many Shibas who aren’t like this at all as well. It is without a doubt common for them to be bad off leash though
I'm so happy to find your page! My husband and I have had Bloodhounds for 16 years now and we are not going to commit to another large breed when our hounds pass. We are both 60 and have chronic pain issues. Handling a large puppy would just be too much. I can see that even this smaller breed of dog will have it's training and handling challenges, but I think we can do it. You mentioned eye contact in this video. It has reminded me that one of the dogs I grew up with was trained to be very used to me starting at it. This is because I was a child and I wanted to do staring contests with the dog, and because I loved admiring her pretty face up close. Nowadays, this dog communicates her ideas through the subtle looks and movements of her eyes. We have "battle of wills" decided by eye to eye stares. I also have a shiba Inu, and I remeber he was a extreme picky eater as a puppy, changed feed often or had to buy soft food to mix it up just to make him eat. Was super worried that he would starve. I learned later that he just found the bowl super boring, so i started to hide some food or pour it out on a carpet instead, which worked,(also bought a playball which you could hide food or candy inside which he loved to run around with) still do this to this day, and sometimes mix in cucumbers or carrots in it. =) Good luck with your Shiba!

Happy New Year 😊Thanks again for another educational video. We are getting our black n tan puppy soon.. she will be 15 weeks when we get her and all your tips are super useful. In regards to the crate training I see in the video that you are now using only a pen... when Jimmy was a puppy did you also use a crate inside the pen ? Also what kind of harness was that on the video? Thanks in advance 😊
Hi Athina, thanks for the comment and welcome back 👋 When jimmy was young we attached playpen with his crate so at night he is sleeping in the crate but during the day he is in the playpen area. The harness link is in the description but here you go - amzn.to/2EgN3jG
Does the breed tend to become more of a problem with other dogs as they age,or just the one I watch? I have watch one often, since she was a pup. At three years old she has gotten aggressive with some dogs...not all...and they aren't doing anything to her.
Question - did you ever train Jimmy to not sit on the sofa or Sleep on your bed? I plan on getting a shiba sometime at the end of the year and would like to know how to train him not to jump on the furnitures.
Hi Ryan, loudly tell your dog NO or AH AH when he jumps on your sofa or when he has un desirable behavior. You can also give him timeout if you caught him right when he jumps on sofa. Keep in mind you will need to repeat the same practice many times until you see result but Shiba Inu is a smart breed and he picks up ques fast. For more information about training check out the training video here - th-cam.com/video/7Ofnfz6ANB4/w-d-xo.html Good luck👍
We have 2 sofas at home and he is allowed to be on one of them. He always try to get on the forbidden sofa and we always either give him time out or tell him NO and eventually he knows and won’t get on the forbidden sofa anymore 👍🏻
So right about Shiba’s hating paws, nose and teeth to be touched. Mine has had many dental issues because he refused to allow me to brush his teeth. Start slowly with light touch then slowly increase. My boy is 14 years old now and we are finally making progress 😬
Even though that I don't like making interactions even with animals I'll get a shiba because that might be the cure for being scared to interact from anything.
Did you do it and if yes, how did it turn out? I could imagine that a Shiba is not a good start for your situation, however if there is a will then you can do it for sure.
I just recently got a shiba myself and I am REALLY struggling with the leash. When I put it on him he just sits there and refuses to move, what am I doing wrong?
Lol, neither of my Shibas liked cucumber. If I dropped a piece they would lick it and move it around, but I’d have to pick up the cucumber with chew marks and dog slobber from the living room….. Great video.
One day I will get my own Shiba. I dont know when but until I can actually get my very own Puppy I will soak all Information into my Brain to be the best prepared Shiba Mom I could possibly be. Reading in the comments that people get a Shiba as a gift or just like that while Im sitting here hoping to have the perfect home for a dog and the time schedule to be there for them 24/7 it fills me with so much jealiousy that people get something I dream of so many years get it just like that. I hope you guys are taking good care of your Shiba Inus cause they definitly deserve a prepared Owner. Dont take any Dog especially not the Shiba for something light.
I have a black and tan shiba, we got her when she was 10 weeks old. Almost every sunday we take her to the park to train with the cutest cream shiba! she is learning well and i hope she can learn to be good!
Thank you for tips I'm try this training session for my 1year old shiba inu. Also any tips on training her to be obedience she has too much energy and not focus on me
Hi Isabel, one year old still pretty young and can be high energy sometimes. Have you tried to train her maybe after walks? if she has too much energy in general you might need to spend more time to let her get enough activities daily like dog parks, play time, walks and train her after those events and before each meal so she is slightly hungry. the channel has a lot of training video you can also check it out - th-cam.com/video/5ZANeF38q_A/w-d-xo.html Good luck 👍
haha unfortunately Jimmy still barks at the vacuum and he occasionally bites too. The only thing i know for this scenario is if you vacuum often, eventually he will become less excited so will bite and bark less. What we do is whenever we vacuum we place jimmy in a separate room or a crate, so we can clean the house without him standing in the way. Another tip is do not play or respond to his barking, if you try to poke your dog or use vacuum to charge toward your dog it will only further assert him that vacumn time is play time. good luck 👍
Hi thanks for the comment, no we actually have never cut his hair. Shiba Inu naturally has short hair and required minimum grooming. We only brush him during season changes and its been great so far. I won't recommend you cut your Shiba Inu's hair. We do, occasionally need to cut his nails and we bathe him about once every 3 months and that's about it.
I love my Shib, doesn’t scream or whine when we wash her, clip her nails, wipe her paws, or goes to bed. BUT. SHE ABSOLUTELY HATES WALKING AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD! HELP
@@SuperShiba He's doing a lot better now, he listens but still has a lot of trouble learning to stay good and usually he goes right back to doing the same thing unless I say no, its annoying but I can see hes slowly starting to get it
My Shibe is so spoiled but for Shiba Inu standards he’s doing well. He went from biting 12 times within a year with his previous owners, to biting me once to having not bitten anyone in almost 3 years. Now he’s addicted to pets and scratches. My Shibe actually likes the vet, he just doesn’t like getting his temperature taken bc it goes in his butt. He never minded shots. As far as for baths, I found that my Shibe likes hot water and whines/cries/screams a LOT LESS when the water is as hot as he can stand it. Not to where it burns him but just warm enough to where he doesn’t feel cold and he can soak up enough water for him to spin cycle it all over me for putting him there to begin with.
@@SuperShiba Im def the lucky one. His prev owners were very honest and open about his aggression and apparently every time they mentioned it, no one showed up. I was the only one. They all missed out on such a wonderful doggie. I love my Shibe. I’m glad I took the time. He’s my best buddy and a big fluffy, bear dog.
Hi Stacey, if he is biting during a play I will take the toy away and also stopped all activities so he know biting means game over. here is a video that talks about how to properly discipline your dog - th-cam.com/video/F8FuHJQhQwM/w-d-xo.html Good luck!
Haha I don't know much about training cats or what's the difference between training a cat versus a dog. Essentially to train a Shiba Inu is similar with any other dog breed but just take a bit more consistency and patience. Good luck !

same!! did you get one? my mom is contacting a shiba inu breeder in november and im so excited
Hi Athina, thanks for the comment and welcome back 👋
When jimmy was young we attached playpen with his crate so at night he is sleeping in the crate but during the day he is in the playpen area. The harness link is in the description but here you go - amzn.to/2EgN3jG
@@SuperShiba oh sorry missed the link on the description. Thanks for your answer 🤗🐶
Awesome video - definitely will have to try the trick with the cucumbers. Thank you!
I wish I could see your channel 4 years ago, mine is too old to train and now she is the queen in the house😅
Haha Jimmy is also the king of the house lol but he does listen to comment if he feels like it.
Great tips . Thanks so much
Thanks and welcome back 👋
Jimmy reminds me so much of my pup 😍
For more information about training check out the training video here - th-cam.com/video/7Ofnfz6ANB4/w-d-xo.html
Good luck👍
@@SuperShiba thank you. Does jimmy sit on the sofa?
We have 2 sofas at home and he is allowed to be on one of them. He always try to get on the forbidden sofa and we always either give him time out or tell him NO and eventually he knows and won’t get on the forbidden sofa anymore 👍🏻
So right about Shiba’s hating paws, nose and teeth to be touched. Mine has had many dental issues because he refused to allow me to brush his teeth. Start slowly with light touch then slowly increase. My boy is 14 years old now and we are finally making progress 😬
Never too late to start 😀thanks for sharing
Hope you grow
Thanks 👍🏻
@@SuperShiba my doors always open
Thank you for telling me! I will remember!
watching your shibas mannerisms is like completely identical to my shiba its so funny
i love my shiba so much her names angel
Best dog EVER.
Have a 4.5 month old female shiba also in Washington State. Any advice for that super biting stage?
I have a black and tan shiba, we got her when she was 10 weeks old. Almost every sunday we take her to the park to train with the cutest cream shiba! she is learning well and i hope she can learn to be good!
new sub and thump up!!! :)
とてもおとなしくてかしこいコですね!
Thank you for tips I'm try this training session for my 1year old shiba inu. Also any tips on training her to be obedience she has too much energy and not focus on me
Hi Isabel, one year old still pretty young and can be high energy sometimes. Have you tried to train her maybe after walks? if she has too much energy in general you might need to spend more time to let her get enough activities daily like dog parks, play time, walks and train her after those events and before each meal so she is slightly hungry. the channel has a lot of training video you can also check it out - th-cam.com/video/5ZANeF38q_A/w-d-xo.html
Good luck 👍

I saw the hair tumbleweeds on the floor, that was enough information for me.
Shibas are so cuteeee
Wow thanks albert / flamingo ,btw please dont ahoot me albert lol

I've seen a lot of shiba videos, and I know they all look similar, but this is the first shiba that looks almost identical to my Shiba 😆
my dad he physically punishes rocky and it only makes
him like him more for some odd reason
whaaa???
Congratz!! i love him but i don't know how bad is the shedding ... Got a video of all the bad things of shiba inu
The only thing about my dog he's petrified of trash truck he shakes and shivers he goes crazy over certain trucks
Beautiful
thanks for this video ^^ do you have a tip how I get my shiba inu to stop barking and byting at the vacuum cleaner?
haha unfortunately Jimmy still barks at the vacuum and he occasionally bites too. The only thing i know for this scenario is if you vacuum often, eventually he will become less excited so will bite and bark less. What we do is whenever we vacuum we place jimmy in a separate room or a crate, so we can clean the house without him standing in the way. Another tip is do not play or respond to his barking, if you try to poke your dog or use vacuum to charge toward your dog it will only further assert him that vacumn time is play time. good luck 👍
@@SuperShiba thank you!
Try to vacc while they're OUTSIDE
Hello, I have a shiba who is just recently 5 months and doing great! Do you get your doggo hair cuts or let his hair just grow naturally?
Hi thanks for the comment, no we actually have never cut his hair. Shiba Inu naturally has short hair and required minimum grooming. We only brush him during season changes and its been great so far. I won't recommend you cut your Shiba Inu's hair. We do, occasionally need to cut his nails and we bathe him about once every 3 months and that's about it.
Handsome boy.
what size was the harness that you bought?
Jimmy is now 31 pounds and he use XL for the harness
I love my Shib, doesn’t scream or whine when we wash her, clip her nails, wipe her paws, or goes to bed. BUT. SHE ABSOLUTELY HATES WALKING AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD! HELP
Change time/direction; carry reward
I got a cream shiba about a month ago who’s VERY naughty and stubborn, I’m really hoping these tips work bc I’m losing hope :,)
Good luck! Keep us posted
@@SuperShiba He's doing a lot better now, he listens but still has a lot of trouble learning to stay good and usually he goes right back to doing the same thing unless I say no, its annoying but I can see hes slowly starting to get it
Dont give up. YOUR diligence will pay off for both of you.
@@kiraunos2269 you have to hit the dog my friend
is this Haribu ?
Thank you for sharing. He is lucky to find an owner who understands and knows how to care for him 👍
@@SuperShiba Im def the lucky one. His prev owners were very honest and open about his aggression and apparently every time they mentioned it, no one showed up. I was the only one. They all missed out on such a wonderful doggie. I love my Shibe. I’m glad I took the time. He’s my best buddy and a big fluffy, bear dog.
Es sind pflegeleichte liebenswürdige Tiere und so süß.
How to get them in bath?
Is a good punishment taking away one of there toys, or is it cruel to them?
Hi Stacey, if he is biting during a play I will take the toy away and also stopped all activities so he know biting means game over. here is a video that talks about how to properly discipline your dog - th-cam.com/video/F8FuHJQhQwM/w-d-xo.html
Good luck!
I've trained my cat pretty well. Do you think since I've trained my cat I can train a Shiba Inu?
Haha I don't know much about training cats or what's the difference between training a cat versus a dog. Essentially to train a Shiba Inu is similar with any other dog breed but just take a bit more consistency and patience. Good luck !
Lol um NO!
Cute dog 🥰🥰💓
