*Since my last Shiba was so much fun to groom* I could feel the sarcasm into my soul, and nearly fell out of my chair laughing when the screaming started. Akira, Black and Tan Shiba, 1999 to 2014, would make me pick her up to carry to the tub. And at the door, go full spread eagle with all four paws gripping at the door frame; and the all to familiar whining would start. I knew the howling scream would soon follow. One of the best dogs I ever had; she got me through some rough patches in life, and not a day goes by that I don’t still miss her. *Thank you for bringing back some other memories!!!*
Your post was such a pleasure to read! Akira sounds more entertaining that anything electronic. She was a wonderful friend and I am happy for you having her in your life. Woof! 💓
The Shiba Inu is another one of those breeds that 10+ years in the pet industry has taught me to avoid. XD Like, they're cute and have great personalities, but the SCREAMING.
In my personal opinion they go right along with a husky, it’s worth the trade off! Please note I have a husky and eventually would love to own a shiba as well.
What breed would you recommend, something chill that is not too hard to parent? I really want to get a dog but I don't want him/her to feel unfulfilled due to not enough playtime or running.
Wow neither tried to bite, for Shibas that's really good. I laughed at Keiko's ridiculous "squeaky shopping cart" screams but she did amazing. And Bruno's grooming was one of the most satisfying Shiba groomed I've ever seen!
This video really made me appreciate my dog's calm temper during brushing and bathing even more. Now just imagine grooming husky and shiba mix, I think whole universe would explode from all the noise.
My shiba has always hated baths and nail trims too but never screams or struggles, he just trembles and licks his lips a lot but stands quietly. I consider myself very lucky to have gotten the absolute gentlemen of shiba inus. He is always so happy once he's toweled, zoomies all over the house. God they shed so much though the struggle is real🥲
This makes me miss my shiba. She was a funny little girl, but bath time was chaos. In her old age her “screams” turned into “grumbles” At the end of every bath, we’d wrap her in a towel and she’d be held like a baby and complain about the experience to my mom
Shibas have quite the unique personality! 😆 we have one that comes to our doggy daycare every week, and she is absolutely the princess of every room she walks into. She may carry herself with grace and poise, but she is a lady with many opinions, and when she voices them you'd better listen! One other unique thing about the breed is their unusual longevity--I think the oldest dog I've ever seen at our boarding kennel was an 18-year-old Shiba Inu. Impressive for any dog, for sure, but even more so for a dog her size; usually it's the teeniest dogs that live the longest.
I own a shiba and watching this I was amazed how much they act like mine. However I’m also surprised how well behaved my shiba is when she gets a bath, welll… as well behaved as a shiba can be.
I am glad we bathed our Shiba, Sora, often when he was a puppy, he never screamed or whined in the bath. Best part is the after bath and dry zoomies. And, I taught Sora that nail clipping is treat time, so he is fine with it.
We bathed our golden today, the difference in dogs is unreal. He’s leery of the bathtub, but once the warm water started flowing, he just stood there, not a peep, we scrubbed and rinsed, he would have stayed in there all day. Loves it. Loves the water, loves the attention, loves it all. So funny.
First off this wonderful woman is great at her job. That being said I can't quite put my finger on why this content of a seemingly mundane task is so fricking addictive and enjoyable too watch. One of the few things on TH-cam that I watch in full and as soon as I see it. Easily my favorite channel and if I didn't live in BC would definitely be bringing my Husky Loki for a grooming.
I loved Keiko's operatic warbles. Such passion! Worthy of an Italian soprano. I think she fell a little in love with your cameraman. Bruno did very well for being so stressed out. Talk about a massive furball! And this from dogs that would probably happily chase each other through a lawn sprinkler. Maybe try washing with snow next time? 😁
Sad that poor boy is so stressed from being groomed! Training your dog and introducing him or her to as many things as possible doesn't only make your life easier, but will mean a lot less stress and anxiety in the long run for the pup as well. 😊 And for Shibas being catlike? My cats handle a bath (on very rare occasions) a lot better than those two fluffs 😉
Well, they are pretty cat-like. I have a relative who owns one. Like your cats, he's okay with water...but only on his own terms. Wading in a shollow pond, or going on a swimming pool's steps? Yep! Being bathed by his owner? Try to hide first, and/or run from the falling water once in the tub or shower. A groomer or stranger trying to bathe him? Exactly like these 2.
@@Hermititis haha, that sounds like some spunky personality there. To be fair though, my cats are ragdolls, which are said to have a doglike personality. 😅😂
@@LorraineRo , yeah, there was a software mix-up at the factory, so Ragdolls (and I'm told Maine Coone cats too) run on the Dog base, while Shibas run on Cat firmware.
Other Cat-like features of Shibas: they self-groom a lot, they are very independent, they aren't as eager to please their owners, and, when faced with something they don't want to do (take a bath, come inside, go to vet, etc), they are masters of turning into liquid to hide in impossible spaces and/or throwing screaming, wriggling, full-body flailing tantrums.
A shiba can go from super proud, to super confident to super stubborn and or fall into a heap of overly dramatic distress, overly resistant and into a big bundle of cry me a river ❤
My favorite breed. So much temperament, and they don't hesitate to get vocal about what they like or don't like 😂 Every groomer's nightmare, but just look at their cute face! Can't resist such cuteness.
Getting thar much undercoat out of Bruno was still a big help. I really appreciate how mindful you are of the dog's stress level. That level of consideration is priceless
Thank you for giving Shibas another chance. You are very patient and caring about the dogs needs and stress levels. I bought the Equigroomer when I watched you use it on huskies and I can tell you it does wonders on my Shibas undercoat! They are drama queens to the max, but I absolutely love the breed
Prob feels secure w/it and invasion of his space. Like a stranger putting us in a seat and trying to take our coat off. What?? Similar fear protection response. 😉
you finally did a Shiba video! Shibas are akin to cats. they are catlike and love being with cats. They don’t like water like cats etc etc these dogs seem to follow me everywhere. I bump into them all the time in the city. so cute and soft, like a plush toy❤
It's so nice to see how you adapt to the needs and comfort of the dogs; hopefully next time Bruno will remember that you were nice and that it felt good to get all that hair out! Also I'm having an intense struggle between the parts of my brain that know that Lupa is your personal pet and she doesn't need to be in every video, vs the part that's just going *hnnnn want see puppy*
I worked at a doggy daycare and this one Shiba was impossible to get in his crate. I was the only person he trusted so I would get called in to coax it into his crate. Sweet baby boy. Everything seemed to stress him out so much. Speaking to him in a soft voice and squatting down to his level always seemed to do the trick.
Wow. Between the screaming & the entire animal sized piles of fur on the floor you'd think there would be a naked couple of dogs to show for it!! Holy smokes!! Bless their hearts 💕. Beautiful Burmese Mountain dog too. 💜
Sometimes all you need is a good brush out and Bruno is just as handsome as his sister even though she went for the full treatment Love how gentle you handle them and put their comfort first ❤
my shiba does really well with the bath potion (still looks miserable but doesn’t even try to escape after the first 2 minutes) but BOY does he hate getting his nails trimmed!! kiko (keiko?) did SUCH a good job with her nail trim 🥺🥺🥺
For sure her name is けいこ which in English is spelled Keiko and phonetically Kay-Ko. But our friendly neighborhood groomer can be forgiven for mispronouncing a Japanese name.

Aww🥹
Your post was such a pleasure to read! Akira sounds more entertaining that anything electronic. She was a wonderful friend and I am happy for you having her in your life. Woof! 💓
@@rodandjudibowen5665 ❤️Thank You❣️
The Shiba Inu is another one of those breeds that 10+ years in the pet industry has taught me to avoid. XD Like, they're cute and have great personalities, but the SCREAMING.
In my personal opinion they go right along with a husky, it’s worth the trade off! Please note I have a husky and eventually would love to own a shiba as well.
You are lucky if they are just defensive like these two. The more self-confident ones bite. Groomers tend to ban this breed.
I think my Shiba has a broken squeaker. He’s silent when I bathe him
I like to tell people that Shiba Inus are very opinionated 😅
Add in some chihuahua for a personality from hell.
Seeing that Shiba screaming from even that gentle brush makes me appreciate my dog even more who loves getting brushed lol
I think Bruno became offended the camera man didn’t have treats in his hand. He saw his sister get treats, he wanted some too 😂
It was Bruno that was offered the treats.
He was so stressed, he refused them 🥺😫
"this is bullshit!" - Bruno
@@Person1865 😂😂😂😂😂
A stressed dog never accept treats
He got offered treats, but refused because he was so stressed just being on the table 😭
This makes me miss my shiba. She was a funny little girl, but bath time was chaos. In her old age her “screams” turned into “grumbles”
At the end of every bath, we’d wrap her in a towel and she’d be held like a baby and complain about the experience to my mom
Great tip about brushing in both direction for dogs! Never knew that! I’m glad we talked about Bruno
Gosh. She made sounds I didn't know a dog could make, and I've had dogs my whole life! Such a pretty girl. ❤
Shibe: *gets wet*
Also shibe: *screams of agony*
Nice of the owner to warn you about the paw touching ahead of time, hope more people do that to keep you aware and safe
Where a husky is singing the song of their people, shibas seem to make an opera out of hit with a lot of high notes ^^
🤣🤣🤣
💀💀💀
The shiba inu opera 🤣😂
I own a shiba and watching this I was amazed how much they act like mine. However I’m also surprised how well behaved my shiba is when she gets a bath, welll… as well behaved as a shiba can be.
Shiba's after analysing huskies tantrum videos: chalenge accepted.
I know many have said this but, YOU are awesome at treating these doggies so calmly and give them such care. BLess you guys
I am glad we bathed our Shiba, Sora, often when he was a puppy, he never screamed or whined in the bath. Best part is the after bath and dry zoomies. And, I taught Sora that nail clipping is treat time, so he is fine with it.
The second dogs fur was the epitome of "But wait, there's more!"
So funny.
0:39 "don't start screaming-"
0:42 *starts screaming*
Dogs like these are why groomers exist. Kind and patient!
1:22 That was the original Godzilla!
I LOVE SHIBA INUS SO MUCH!!! They're the cutest dogs
Looks like Bruno started to calm down after a bit of brushing. It's like he realised nothing bad was going to happen and he started to trust you
I loved Keiko's operatic warbles.
And for Shibas being catlike?
@@LorraineRo Oh ragdolls are NOTHING like regular cats haha, you're playing cat owner on easy mode with those !
Keiko is like “I got the hose! “... Bruno is like “shoulda started protesting earlier”🤪.
A shiba can go from super proud, to super confident to super stubborn and or fall into a heap of overly dramatic distress, overly resistant and into a big bundle of cry me a river ❤
This is why I have two...I have the same character traits. 😂
@@NoodleNubis jeepers creepers imagining a vast and wonderful mess 🤣
"Bruno is shedding a ridiculous amount of undercoat."
+ removes three dogs worth of fur +
My favorite breed. So much temperament, and they don't hesitate to get vocal about what they like or don't like 😂 Every groomer's nightmare, but just look at their cute face! Can't resist such cuteness.
Getting thar much undercoat out of Bruno was still a big help. I really appreciate how mindful you are of the dog's stress level. That level of consideration is priceless
Beautiful dogs. You do great work. ♥️🐾
It's so nice that you respect the dog and it's limits instead of bending the dog to your will. I really appreciate that.
These dogs are hysterical. I feel bad Bruno’s so afraid.❤
Thank you for giving Shibas another chance. You are very patient and caring about the dogs needs and stress levels. I bought the Equigroomer when I watched you use it on huskies and I can tell you it does wonders on my Shibas undercoat! They are drama queens to the max, but I absolutely love the breed
Most of the dogs don't like wearing Harness.
Bruno, when trying to REMOVE Harness: "So, you have chosen death!" 🤨🤨🤨🤨
Prob feels secure w/it and invasion of his space. Like a stranger putting us in a seat and trying to take our coat off. What?? Similar fear protection response. 😉
I would be panting and losing hair like Bruno too after hearing Keikos (emergency braking) screaming first.
This lady is so amazing with all of these animals
you finally did a Shiba video!
Keiko seemed like such a sweetheart before the bath started, then the demon inside of her made it clear that getting bathed was the worst 🤣🤣🤣
OMG, what divas! Right up there with Huskies. You are so good with them. Those cries match a cat's wail when being bathed. Shibas are very cat-like.
2:00 I don't know which kind of perfume was used and it's bothering me more than I'd like to admit.
Thank you very much for being so wonderful with all your fur babies!!!
they both were stunning, but especially Bruno for being so stressed out was such a good boy!
I love those demon dogs 😅
Can we talk about Ella's dreamy brown eyes? Oh, my heart melted 🥰
I love the small woof at 1:36
I love your videos with the dogs and the kitties! You are so good and gentle with the pets.
Oh, my goodness, you are such a loving presence! Keiko did seem to be OK with the smaller dryer; her sweet face was so cute. Poor Bruno, though!
Imagine new neighbours coming into the next home and hearing this out of nowhere...but seeing everyone else who lived there just treat it as normal.
Ah yes the screams of murder lmao - yes I have a shiba named Pookie; and he’s he sheds.
Wow. Between the screaming & the entire animal sized piles of fur on the floor you'd think there would be a naked couple of dogs to show for it!! Holy smokes!! Bless their hearts 💕. Beautiful Burmese Mountain dog too. 💜
Wow! What a stressed out handsome man. 😢 the love and care you show our beasts is remarkable. Thanks for all you do!
Sometimes all you need is a good brush out and Bruno is just as handsome as his sister even though she went for the full treatment
Love how gentle you handle them and put their comfort first ❤
She deserves an Oscar for that performance. Best Female Actress in a Drama!
my shiba does really well with the bath potion (still looks miserable but doesn’t even try to escape after the first 2 minutes) but BOY does he hate getting his nails trimmed!! kiko (keiko?) did SUCH a good job with her nail trim 🥺🥺🥺
For sure her name is けいこ which in English is spelled Keiko and phonetically Kay-Ko. But our friendly neighborhood groomer can be forgiven for mispronouncing a Japanese name.
I appreciate your sensitivity and choosing of your battles. Sometimes, withdrawing from the field of battle really is a win for all parties
That honestly seems fun, the dramatic dog performances aside! Great job!
