    So polite passing by everyone! Great video and review. I actually got the black colored hydra and a black CF rim. I thought about colored hubs but I decided to stay neutral in case I swapped to a different frame. Planning on taking the hub with me if I switch frames. Used grease instead of oil and the sound is toned down quite a bit, which is what I prefer.

    Sweet review and ride! I've got the Enduro S Hydra wheelset on my custom Honzo and I absolutely love it. The Hydra hub is definitely the type of thing where you don't know you need it till you have it, and now I'll never go back.

      I just put my 4th set of tires on and at just under 2000 miles on this wheel-set, much of it spent doing park days in West Virginia, they’ve been great. I’m running cushcore and other than the typical scuffs I get from being on the trail and regular maintenance I’ve had zero issues. Great wheel-set!

  • @gmigs1762

    Good review, the biggest upgrade to a bike is a high engagement hub especially if you ride any techy trails. I had a set of DT Swiss 350 and made the switch to Onyx - all I can say is wow did techy sections get easier with the instant power. Like you said, you can never go back once you have them. These Hyrdra hubs are great, at the time I bought my Onyx they only had the Torch - these seem a lot less draggy even though they have like 6 times the engagement. Tough decision between Onyx and Hyra's - Hydra sound, less weight but more drag or Onyx with more weight, no sound but zero drag? For mountain biking drag isn't such a big deal so flip a coin between the 2 as both are great.

    • @pidcoemw85
      @pidcoemw85  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I absolutely love the hydras, and they are definitely quieter than the torch was and seem to roll well. I’ve never owned the onyx but I went to a demo day and onyx had a vendor setup and it was unreal how cool those things are. They are definitely on my short list to add to a future bike build, if for nothing else other than comparison. The hydra is super cool but the onyx is next level with having instant engagement everywhere. You are spot on though with drag vs weight and I think like many things in this sport in the end it’s gonna to come down to preference. Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it! 🤘🏼🚵🏻‍♂️

    I have a SB 130 and I just ordered a new Wheelset with Hydra hubs. Will I need to adjust my limit screws when I install the Wheelset? I am currently running DT 350’s like you were.

    • @pidcoemw85
      @pidcoemw85  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for your question! You shouldn’t have to adjust the limit screws if you are using the same boost through axle on the new wheelset, as the cassette should just mount up in the same place. I had no adjustment/issues with mine. Took the time while it was apart to clean and relubricate the driveline and it ran butter smooth when it all went back together. Hopefully you enjoy your i9’s when they come in as much as I do!! Cheers 🤘🏼🚵🏻‍♂️

    • @pidcoemw85
      @pidcoemw85  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for stopping by! i9 has hubs to match any through axle type you have. When you talk to the rep you just give them the brand and year model and they’ll match the wheelset with an appropriate hub. If you do this through a bike shop they should take care of this for you. Sorry for the delayed response 😃

    • @pidcoemw85

      Just what I had available locally. I did a full review on the bike in another video and it travels a lot to the mountains for park days. That being said this local trail system has a couple decent downhill sections not in this video that I get to use a good chunk of this bikes travel on. I’m more than happy with the hydra engagement even on these more mellow trails, especially the climbing sections!

      These are part of the James River Park System (JRPS) and are located in downtown Richmond Va on both the north and south banks of the James River. Fantastic set of trails cut right into the urban city setting and have a huge range of difficulty available with about 400 feet of elevation change. RVAmore has a really good map of the trail system I’ll link here as well. You’re going to love the wheelset. It’s been the better part of a year now I’ve had them on and I still can’t get over both the sound and engagement. Enjoy and keep pedaling! 🤘🏼🚵🏻‍♂️

    Yowza! Expensive but awesome! I can’t even imagine what 0.5 degrees engagement feels like. How many points of engagement were on your old wheel set?

    • @pidcoemw85
      @pidcoemw85  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My DT Swiss set had 18 teeth which meant a 20 degree engagement. They make wheels in 36T which is 10 degrees and they have an upgrade kit which brings it up to 54T for 6.6 degrees. It’s about 100 dollars and as good as it gets for the DT setup. 6.6 is still a ton better than 20 but for me going to half a degree is a mind blowing difference.

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cycle Path I’ve been eyeing the Hunt wheelsets. Not because they bear my name, but because they offer a full wheel set with 3 degree engagement hubs for about $450. I don’t even know what I have now but there is a lot of pedal stroke before anything happens. It’s really only annoying when I consciously think about it though.

    • @pidcoemw85
      @pidcoemw85  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s great. The i9 torch hub that my hydra replaces was 120 points of engagement at 3 degrees and people love them. Like I said before you won’t notice it until you change to a higher engagement hub. I promise once you do you won’t want to go back. Next time we ride, you’ll have to swing a leg over the yeti just to get a feel for it. It’s pretty special and I’m really enjoying it.

      Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. This trail isn’t terribly technical but it’s the closest local to me and I love it. This is the bike I use for downhill park as well as trail when I want to ride something really fun. I think any Walmart bike could make it down just about any trail once, but it probably wouldn’t survive half of them and this is definitely way more fun to ride.
