What you've witnessed here is 2 comedians who know each other so well, that they can get into a bit before they really think about it. So Robert riffed off David, caught himself, and lost it.
I get the feeling all comedians are like that in private, and when you get groups of them together that's how it goes. Comedians bullshitting with each other is my favorite kind of comedy. It reminds me of hanging out with my own best friends as a kid.

People always talk about Mitchell & Webb like David Mitchell was the shining star that put the team on his back, but this reminds me that Robert Webb is wildly hilarious even if he seems less prominent in the media and on panel shows.
Every time I see Webb interviewed he comes across across incredibly arrogant with little respect for other people who aren't in a position to further his personal ambition.

think about the quote dumb dumb, the funny part is that in his mind he's making the stretch of Tom Cruise no doubt talking about doing something monumental to taking a piss, which is something no one else can help or really make you do, its so dumb it loops back on itself and becomes hilarious

It's a shame this one didn't get past the first series. I really enjoyed it. Although on reflection, it was largely thanks to David Mitchell that I watched it at all. If it had been hosted by someone who relied more heavily on the script, it would have been a lot more dull.

I watched this whole series. Twice over. Not ONE of these is a "blooper". All were shown in the original broadcasts. Nice to see them again, but misleading lies nonetheless. x
The term 'blooper' doesnt refer to bits not shown in the original broadcast, it refers to mistakes, fluffed lines and unintentional happenings that occur during recording. Something that fits these descriptions that were shown during original broadcast are still 'bloopers' regardless.

Then i think theater and Hollywood popularised it as a movie term (blooper reels etc) and it fitted because of that sound check they do when cameras start rolling, meaning each clip would be separated by a "bloop" sound. Having said that, the radio origin and all the definitions i could find do seem to specifically make note of the clips "usually" being removed. I found no definitions specifying that they had to be cut or else they werent bloopers.

The term 'blooper' doesnt refer to bits not shown in the original broadcast, it refers to mistakes, fluffed lines and unintentional happenings that occur during recording. Something that fits these descriptions that were shown during original broadcast are still 'bloopers' regardless.
FWIW, the description also says "All the best outtakes", as in taken out, as in not used in the final, publicly released version.
