I'd consider the number of hours of additional work you did (outside of the machining work) - washing engine assembly, lambda, pulley, door handle etc just so you can calculate the 'cost' of your labour, or even to divide your profit by the hours of work to figure out an hourly rate
Hello josh Well done love the content You earned a new subscriber 🙌 How did you learn to fix cars as that is something I would like to do in the future
Hey man thanks for watching! Really glad you enjoyed, I just started by fixing my own cars and helping friends fix theirs when stuff broke until i decided I could make money on fixing cars. Lots of TH-cam tutorials!
I learned mechanics back in 1974 and worked in a garage. I dont like the modern car with all of the sensors and vacuum stuff on them. I prefer hte older type with carbs, coils and points or electrinic ignition. More stuff to go wrong now-a-days and less room to work on an engine under the bonnet. I was a mechanical person and knew nothing avbout electronics side of cars, except for changing bulbs and the simple stuff. lol. But I could fit towbars and wire them up but now, it has to be done by professional fitters and certified / certificates produced.
@@ianallen2 I’ve met a fella that says the exact same, left the trade when all these electronics started to appear. I’m somewhat the opposite though, I wouldn’t know where to start with a carburettor
@@Josh.Sanderson I suppose it is what you grow up with and know. Too many sensors for me in modern cars. Its like the styling as well, cars today dont have character or style .Most look the same and sound the same. lol
@@Josh.Sanderson The ones from the 30's, 40's and 50's are more rounded and have lots of character and very shapely. From the 60's, they starterd to bet a bit "box" shaped and then the 70's and 80's were all like shoe boxes and then like wedges. Now, they are like the same style, all perspex lights and plastic bumpers. lol.
Another banging video Josh, been thinking about getting a Carly for a while now and that's just decided it for me, such a worthy investment. Keep it up pal #20%gang
Flipping cars is fine, if you know what you're doing and your liability. School boy mistakes with the loose bolts. One of my guys 30 years ago did the same and it cost me £5,000. Business partner did it 5 years ago and cost me the same again! Both were BMW's. Check cars before you buy, I had one with light damage, repaired it, but it had previous damage, badly repaired so that was a total loss as I refused to sell it. So £400 less taxes of course. Insurance, and tools time... If you get good at what you do, you should be able to hourly the profits as you have to take into account the time (wage) before you get any profit.
@@Josh.Sanderson if you focus on profits over value, then it can go a bit wrong. You should look around trade in cars. That's where I made a lot of money and the cars weren't that bad. Dirty and dents mostly, but I used to do body work so no issue there aside time. Save up and get a body lift. The. You can be doing wishbones brakes very easily. Which can be a costly repair and why a lot of cars get scrapped. Just keep an eye on getting it right, you have people lives in your hands. And do what you enjoy
@@Josh.Sanderson its very refreshing to see even the mediocre cars get repaired as opposed to scrap. Keep up the top work buddy, hopefully one day we will see you with a supercar. I do this stuff too but i havent filmed anything but id like to. Confidence thing i think
@@davepaul6342 Im definitley anti waste and pro money so it’s a win win haha. Supercar would be bloody lovely but even just a daily that isn’t always broken would be nice 😂 I have to say the TH-cam is a big learning curve but well worth the effort
@@Josh.Sanderson same for me, what other people class as "throw away" im like naa give it another chance. I put time and effort into saving a 2009 aygo which was rotten at the sills and now its like it was never corroded. Id love to do videoing for youtube and been told it pays well after so long and many many views.
Cheers man! That’s decent mileage for a budget car to be fair, the buyer had a couple issues after they got it I had to sort for them luckily just a battery and the other o2 sensor
Thanks man! To be truthful I didn’t even know that, they just sent me a membership to use that had everything, well worth it for me though as there’s so much stuff to use within the app. Much better than the eBay scanner I’ve been using 😅
Firstly I’m glad they are paying Josh.. however, to add, plus the subscription they try to take again a year later, and the fault codes that don’t come up correctly sometimes, live data discrepancies.. honestly I advise anyone to buy a second hand kingbolen or snap on unit and VCDS instead of a Carly. It’s so much better value with no ongoing fees.

I've been driving my BMW for 43 years and I still love it (1975 3.0s)
@@johnshaw4140 damnnn that’s a beauty of a car! Thanks man it really means a lot
Some good tips in there 👍
Cheers!
I'd consider the number of hours of additional work you did (outside of the machining work) - washing engine assembly, lambda, pulley, door handle etc just so you can calculate the 'cost' of your labour, or even to divide your profit by the hours of work to figure out an hourly rate
Yeah I thought I’d make a but more however the write off really screwed my profits
Hello josh
Well done love the content

How did you learn to fix cars as that is something I would like to do in the future
Hey man thanks for watching! Really glad you enjoyed, I just started by fixing my own cars and helping friends fix theirs when stuff broke until i decided I could make money on fixing cars. Lots of TH-cam tutorials!
Yes Josh! Epic work 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@jakeowenpowell_ ayyy thanks brother ❤️ know it’s not your cup o tea subject matter😂
Its like the styling as well, cars today dont have character or style .Most look the same and sound the same. lol
@@ianallen2 I completely agree with that, there's very few nice looking cars around these days, however the ones from the pre 90's are mostly gorgeous
@@Josh.Sanderson The ones from the 30's, 40's and 50's are more rounded and have lots of character and very shapely. From the 60's, they starterd to bet a bit "box" shaped and then the 70's and 80's were all like shoe boxes and then like wedges. Now, they are like the same style, all perspex lights and plastic bumpers. lol.
Excellent job mate! What camera and lenses do you use for your pics?
Thanks man! Is a canon 5DMKII with a canon 70-200mm 2.8 L Lens but it’s definitely overkill
Another banging video Josh, been thinking about getting a Carly for a while now and that's just decided it for me, such a worthy investment. Keep it up pal #20%gang
My guyyy lets GOOOOOO
Yeah makes a lot of sense I was hoping to make more but with is being a surprise write off it reduced profits a lot
Amazing content i love seeing stuff like this
Thanks so much Dave! Glad you enjoyed it
@@Josh.Sanderson its very refreshing to see even the mediocre cars get repaired as opposed to scrap.

No way man!!! Probably the first! Thanks so much man!
Job well done, I had one of these and it was to temperamental it ended its life on 144k which I was really pleased with
Cheers man! That’s decent mileage for a budget car to be fair, the buyer had a couple issues after they got it I had to sort for them luckily just a battery and the other o2 sensor

@@davidh328 thanks man appreciate it!
good vid - naughty Carly ad though - you didn't tell everyone when they buy one there are additional fees for every car brand you want to use it on!
@@AI-Records24 Totally agree - wish I had saved up and got an Autel or similar - I got stung on buying a Carly following another TH-camr and I feel like I've just wasted my money!
Nice Video Man :)
Cheers man!
Yes Josh! ❤
How much time did you took from the moment of the purchase to the sale?
GREAT VIDEO 👍💪
Thanks brother I really appreciate the kind words! A really long time haha mainly because I was daily driving as my BMWs differential blew up and I couldn’t afford to fix it, but I would say around 2 weeks from listing it for sale to it being gone and maybe 3/4 days labour
Sounds like you should get a deal with car vertical to check the car before you buy it.
@@Cam.Klingon I need to start checking them! 😂
