Your tutorials are fantastic. You are very thorough and much appreciated
Thank you! very useful since I just started with the PC-12, so perfect timing.
Awesome. And yes please for more detail on the different approaches. Love ur videos
Great video as always.
Thank you for a very helpful video. I have been fighting with the 530 forever with no luck till now. I did manage to get the flight plan loaded and in the air on the way to Midway with the manual vectoring after about 4 watches of that part. A few more times through the video, and I'll finally have it! I'd love to see another video going deeper on the 530.
Thanks Roger, which aspects specifically would you like to see more of? And which plane are you using the 530 with?
Excellent tuto again thanks !
Merci !

I find capturing a glide slope a hit and miss affair on Rnav and lpv. When it works the autopilot reduces my altitude automatically i just set flaps and power. Issue is its in consistent. Maybe you could do a focus on this part of the procedure. Also after setting up procedures if you just hit the direct to button it will automatically put your first vector in to complete the flight plan on the gps before you take off.
Yes, I've noticed that it can be a bit inconsistent as well for the approaches. I'll likely do a follow-up at some point on how to maximize the chances of it working properly
Thank you for the tutorial!
Is it possible to create a user waypoint with definite lat / lon?
I don’t think that’s possible right now, at least not that I know of
This is an excellent introduction, thank you for putting the effort in. I'm returning to flight simming after a work-enforced absence of a year and having just bought the excellent Carenado 182 RG II, I wanted a quick and to the point refresher on the 530. This was it! One question, though - re the traffic feature at 13.53, you said that after it's enabled it will appear in any of the map views. I've been able to see traffic in the Traffic page itself, but nothing is showing on the other map pages. I've tried changing the level of detail in the displays, but no change. Have I missed a menu setting in the 530 that enables this? I'm using the latest build of the Working Title version. Thanks for any advice!
hmmm, that's strange. I'm not sure why you don't see the traffic on the nav pages. You've installed the GNS530 through the marketplace?
@@FlightSimSchool yes, through Marketplace, and I double checked it earlier, just to make sure I wasn't being dumb. I'll check it out in a different aircraft tomorrow (next year lol!)
I'm mostly using it with the DHC-2 Beaver. I'd like to see if it has terrain and if it links with Navigraph and any other tricks.
The only terrain option for the 530 is the relative terrain display that I show in the video. It’s especially useful if you can run two 530s side by side so one map is on nav and the other is on the relative terrain display. There is no link with Navigraph as far as I know.
@FlightSimSchool thank you very much for this tutorial. Can you tell me if there are any tutorials that cover saving, recalling and activating flight plans with the GNS530?
Other than though the world map, there is no way to to save and reload flight plans with the gns530
@@FlightSimSchool thanks for such a swift response. Can I ask what's the "world map" that you mention?
@@davidwilkinson4969 The screen where you select the airplane/livery/etc, if you load a flight plan route there, it should load into the 530 automatically
@@FlightSimSchool Oooh yes! I understand. Thanks again.
@@FlightSimSchool if I set up a flight plan in the world map I don't see a way to include an approach. Can a flight plan loaded this way be edited within the GNS to add an approach?
Is there a way to change the panel on the C172 Skyhawk to include steam gauges with the Garmin GNS530? Currently the model that’s in my hanger is the one with G1000. I was hoping to practice the sim for my IFR training.
You need the premium version of Flight Sim to get the 172 with round gauges, unfortunately. It's a completely separate airplane in the selection screen.
@@FlightSimSchoolthank you for replying. That’s kinda of a bummer to have to buy a whole game again. I wish there was a way to either change the equipment out or just buy the plane. Anyways, thank you again for your help!
@@NiveK0510 You should look up for Piper Comanche 250 from A2A Simulations - it has a GNS 530/430 and it's the best choice of GA planes for MSFS :)
Ugh...is there a way to load a flight plan without entering it manually in the Working Title 530? (Question answered below--my flight plan did not load initially from the world map but it did finally when I restarted the flight.)
I’ve noticed it can be buggy at times, but it usually works… eventually.
