Got me this three pack at the Warehouse sale, and, as I don’t yet have hundreds of Spider-Man figs, and having paid „Old days ML pricing“ I‘m enjoying it. Even if a mediocre release. That Ice Man, although using that outdated mold (first figure I’ve opened of that mold 😂) I like what they went for with the plastic color and the shading, shame they didn‘t use a thicker body or sculpt a new one (of course they would…). But yes, everything you said just happens to be true…
Ice Darwin. Nice. Love it. Thanks for the review Anthony. I had no interest in this three pack and when Marvel Select revealed an Ice-Man, it was a no-brainer for me. That blue ghosting on the back of Spidey appears to be residual haze from a decal with a transparent border. I am totally surprised Hasbro didn't call this a four-pack by including Miss Lion.
I love that you pulled out a cartoon height reference. This is why you are my favorite reviewer. You might be overly critical, but you have the proof to back up your claims. Spider-Man is the wrong height, and Iceman looks like crap.
I really wish they'd have chosen almost any other body for Iceman -- even the Buckycap mold would've been fine for me(but really no excuse for not using the Vulcan body), but outside of that, I was overall satisfied with the 3-Pack. Not anywhere close to perfect, but good enough for my personal tastes. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for that Diamond Select Iceman that people are talking about in the comments though. While the design isn't at all accurate to the cartoon, I think I'd be willing to make an exception in this case.
For the life of me, I can't understand why the hell it is so difficult for them to release a good Iceman figure. He is one of my favorite Xmen, and they simply can't fucking get him right!
I have a feeling if they do the AoA Iceman sculpt work on the Vulcan body mold it would look much better, also molded in a translucent white plastic or blue plastic like the 3.75 retro carded iceman figure it would have looked a lot better, also maybe including an alternate head sculpt that's smiling with green eyes along with some Ice blast effects could have been awesome. Spidey could have been really cool if they put him in the renew your vows body mold and given him a new head sculpt to look more like the John Romita look from that era. Would've also been cool if Fire star came with new fire effects sculpted on a pair of hands as well as just having new fire effects overall.
I bought each figure separately, and on clearance (except spidey). Iceman was 11 bucks at gamestop, Firestar was 8.00 so i don't mind the old body style and on clearance) at best buy and spidey was 19.99 back whenever the hell they released the amazing series. Total savings 36 bucks and a nice middle finger to Hasbro for regurgitating onto my plate and expecting me to eat it. Thx for taking one for the team Anthony! ✊🏾
Sorry about the bump from almost a year ago.. but i have to ask you, Anthony, has there been a better Hasbro Iceman figure than the Toybiz original ML or the X-Men Classics version from 2006? Yeah they're old ass figures and dated engineering wise..but they STILL look more like Iceman (well, 90s classic Iceman......the true Iceman)than anything Hasbro has done. I still have yet to update him in my 90s Jim Lee style X-Men shelf. None have looked as good as an 18 year old figure. Diamond Selects looks great but they're out of scale. The only DS figures I have are Colossus, Juggernaut and Apocalypse. They seem proper scale to ML.

Just got off the phone with my step-brother and we were laughing at how bad Iceman turned out. Good thing about the left over arm hole is you can fit amazing fantasy armpit web on it, sure it's not accurate to the show, but match other interpretation. There's some function at least lol
I was going to get this 3-pack, because I did kind of like watching the Amazing Friends when it had reruns on Jetix, but I skipped it when I got the RYV set for a lower than MSRP cost on Mercari. I'll probably get the older Firestar release and look for a better Iceman even though he's not an X-Men character I am hunting down ASAP like I am Prof. X, Jubilee, or Colossus.
If you mean a ML Iceman, you're going to be looking for a long time. Better off just buying someone that has a pretty blank body and some white paint...Hasbro sucks @ Iceman.
Isn't the Iceman using the "widely aclaimed" Puzza Spidey body? Or am I wrong? I always thought it was decent I guess for skinny heroes, I wouldn't say it's is garbage, but I DEFINITELY agree it's a terrible Iceman choice, everytime it's been used for him.
Would you say the Pizza Spider-man body that Iceman and Darwin are on has gotten worse with age? I don't mind the web wing holes it gives me options since I have extra web wings! I used to watch this show when I was a kid so if this is the only iteration we get then I'm happy to have it. I know posability is and issue with most collectors but most of the marvel characters don't need to have Spider-man's range. I mean when have you ever seen Dr Doom or the Thing do a hand stand while doing the splits? Yes the prices suck big time and I don't like it but Hasbro will not change unless everyone stops buying everything they make so it all falls on deaf ears! If you can afford it awesome if not get a better paying job!!!!

I really feel that this pack could have been passable with different bodies for Iceman and Spider-Man. Since they're bulkier and older in this show the Vulcan body would have been pretty good for Spidey; as for Bobby, I think a remolded/adjusted AOA Iceman would have suited him better. Sure, the "ice" doesn't quite reflect his look in the show but it would at least be more accurate than the totally smooth pizza spidey mold. Just remove the icicles on his arms, shoulders and shins, give him those sock/boot feet and you're set.
@Lean Mean Green Bean Machine but which body could have a good amount of range and be fairly bulky and well-proportioned? Sure you have to remove the excess amount of peg in the butterfly joints, but other than that it's a solid contender for that specific, bulkier Spidey in the cartoon.
My favorite Spidey cartoons are definitely Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends along with Spider-Man The Animated Series, This 3 pack is okay not perfect but....okay, The only Spider-Man figures that I do want to get are AF Spider-Man and Supaidaman.

I just wonder if it's more worth my while to piecemeal Firestar and Spidey and forget Ice Man or bite the bullet and use him for fodder?

The head looks more like Dr. Manhattan than it does iceman. This set is a great example of how hasbro goes wrong with reusing parts. They couldn't even get the 3 figures in the set to scale properly with each other. Were these just 3 random moulds they weren't using at the time?
Hasbro has been making it really easy for me to pass on almost everthing they come out with lately. Especially at the price points they are at now. Picked up a few at 70% off on clearance but that's about it. And even then they are barely worth it. Rather save my $$ for NECA. They seem to at least care about what they are putting out.
I actually pre-ordered this set, but cancelled it. Happy I did, so tired of Hasbro constantly banking on repaints. I suppose it’s fine if your a new collector, but old schools are sick of it
16:30 i disagree slightly, the Animated SM ones are bad too. They were made for the RYW SM and are too big for this mold while the shoulders look like ass, the elbows have far less range and the place where the shoulder swivels there is a giant ledge. They should have made non web wing versions of these arms and fixed the elbow ugliness.
If you already have an Iceman, the individually released Firestar and one of the dozens of Spider-Man figures they've made, then there's no sense in buying this at all
I hate the Hasbro Pulse releases. They are so expensive in the after market and they make figures that everyone wants as exclusives, shouldn't those be available to all fans considering they see people's wants a decide to make it like the cell shaded venom and now the new doc ock
I am good with the versions I already have. Not sure why Hasbro decided to include a smaller Spider-Man with this set. Also, Iceman's eyes were green in the show, and they failed on that detail. Whoever was behind this put in minimal effort to make money off of preexisting molds. Lame.
Could care less about Iceman and Firestar. The Spider-Man figure looks ok, but I’ll stick with my RYV Spidey. It’s just too much money for a mediocre three pack based on a show that I don’t have a strong attachment to.
This set should have been one I grabbed. That show was my introduction to Spider-Man and the X-Men and it was the reason why Iceman was my favorite mutant growing up, but this set sucks. Calling it a turd sandwich would be generous as I don't know that Firestar and Spidey are really that good. That Iceman is just pure trash though. No one can seemingly make a good Iceman figure. I think my favorite is still the original Toy Biz one that you were supposed to toss in the freezer. The Toy Biz one from the X-Men classics line is objectively better, but in the moment I had no problems with the early 90s release. What surprised me here is how bad Spider-Man turned out. I have the animated one and I was considering trying to find a way to swap it for the Spider-Man from this set, but those arm holes and elbows suck. I did not know they completely changed the arms for that animated release as I had to run and check mine to see if I missed how ugly those elbows are, but they're fine. And the spider on the back of the figure doesn't have that weird, fuzzy, outline. That Spider-Man isn't great, but I hate the head on it. That's Hasbro though where we're just forced to accept a compromised take on a character if we're dead set on buying these things. I just can't believe someone could look at the Iceman in this set and think "Yeah, that looks good enough to release."

Seems like they choose one of there molds on Spider-Man’s upper chest shaded body instead of just painting it shaded they went a cheaper route saving money on paint now 😂
If Iceman was on Bucky Capt I'd actually probably like the 3 pack. But he's so bad and the test of the set is mid at best it doesn't make up for it and makes it a hard skip for me. Sad that this seems like the last spider-man to get the full hand assortment
This pack is just... moves nothing within me. Iceman is terrible i think. Firestar ... im not interested and we get another Spider-man. and look that Iceman legs ! Cmon... Darwin beats it.

Ice-Darwin and Spider-Kid should have been on the Vulcan buck. Not that it would have been a huge improvement, but goddamn this pack sucks. To be fair to Hasbro, the really sucky figures are very easy to identify and avoid these days.
Resent figures from Hasbro have been garbage AF! I recently picked up zombie iron man and zombie scarlet witch and that was just to have for zombie cap lol. Habro has hits and misses in my opinion I just stick with the gi Joe line.

Hasbro makes bad figures on purpose so they can release improved versions of the same character later, I'm 100% sure of that at this point.

I got him on sale from hasbro pulse for 55 USD, is a decent pack for that money, not for the asking price of 80 USD

I actually pre-ordered this set, but cancelled it. Happy I did, so tired of Hasbro constantly banking on repaints. I suppose it’s fine if your a new collector, but old schools are sick of it
16:30 i disagree slightly, the Animated SM ones are bad too. They were made for the RYW SM and are too big for this mold while the shoulders look like ass, the elbows have far less range and the place where the shoulder swivels there is a giant ledge.
They should have made non web wing versions of these arms and fixed the elbow ugliness.
If you already have an Iceman, the individually released Firestar and one of the dozens of Spider-Man figures they've made, then there's no sense in buying this at all
I hate the Hasbro Pulse releases. They are so expensive in the after market and they make figures that everyone wants as exclusives, shouldn't those be available to all fans considering they see people's wants a decide to make it like the cell shaded venom and now the new doc ock
I am good with the versions I already have. Not sure why Hasbro decided to include a smaller Spider-Man with this set. Also, Iceman's eyes were green in the show, and they failed on that detail. Whoever was behind this put in minimal effort to make money off of preexisting molds. Lame.

Could care less about Iceman and Firestar. The Spider-Man figure looks ok, but I’ll stick with my RYV Spidey. It’s just too much money for a mediocre three pack based on a show that I don’t have a strong attachment to.
This set should have been one I grabbed. That show was my introduction to Spider-Man and the X-Men and it was the reason why Iceman was my favorite mutant growing up, but this set sucks. Calling it a turd sandwich would be generous as I don't know that Firestar and Spidey are really that good. That Iceman is just pure trash though. No one can seemingly make a good Iceman figure. I think my favorite is still the original Toy Biz one that you were supposed to toss in the freezer. The Toy Biz one from the X-Men classics line is objectively better, but in the moment I had no problems with the early 90s release. What surprised me here is how bad Spider-Man turned out. I have the animated one and I was considering trying to find a way to swap it for the Spider-Man from this set, but those arm holes and elbows suck. I did not know they completely changed the arms for that animated release as I had to run and check mine to see if I missed how ugly those elbows are, but they're fine. And the spider on the back of the figure doesn't have that weird, fuzzy, outline. That Spider-Man isn't great, but I hate the head on it. That's Hasbro though where we're just forced to accept a compromised take on a character if we're dead set on buying these things. I just can't believe someone could look at the Iceman in this set and think "Yeah, that looks good enough to release."

Seems like they choose one of there molds on Spider-Man’s upper chest shaded body instead of just painting it shaded they went a cheaper route saving money on paint now 😂
I am okay with this set, other than Iceman. Serious miss on that one.

If Iceman was on Bucky Capt I'd actually probably like the 3 pack. But he's so bad and the test of the set is mid at best it doesn't make up for it and makes it a hard skip for me. Sad that this seems like the last spider-man to get the full hand assortment

This pack is just... moves nothing within me. Iceman is terrible i think. Firestar ... im not interested and we get another Spider-man. and look that Iceman legs ! Cmon... Darwin beats it.

I was really hoping that the three pack was better than this. I'm not a huge spiderman fan but, I thought " oh cool a three pack of a pretty at the time animated series, but yeah I am tired of 'poop the bed' type of releases .. c'mon Hasbro, you should act like you care. 😡

Ice-Darwin and Spider-Kid should have been on the Vulcan buck. Not that it would have been a huge improvement, but goddamn this pack sucks. To be fair to Hasbro, the really sucky figures are very easy to identify and avoid these days.

Resent figures from Hasbro have been garbage AF! I recently picked up zombie iron man and zombie scarlet witch and that was just to have for zombie cap lol. Habro has hits and misses in my opinion I just stick with the gi Joe line.
Lets not disrespect Darwin and compare him to "Ice-Darwin". That guy is a total failure while Darwin has outlasted, out-powered, and surpassed all his predecessors. 😌😅 lol but yeah, 75 bucks is a no-no. Maybe for 52 dollars as it is on sale via Hasbro pulse. But even then, it still doesn't feel worthwhile...typical Hasbro, taking the cheap route by cutting corners and fooling customers into buying into their products. 🙄
