Audrey FYI the professional ethic among dedicated Marines is to despise the word "career" because it usually means someone looking after their own welfare first rather than professional dedication to the mission and to one's men.
idk what quality your dad demonstrated as an officer. Many of the best ones have very short "careers" while those who go for many years are a mixed bunch (some good, but many careerists).
idk if this makes sense to a civilian or not. Marines in general uphold a pretty high standard such that even an average Marine has a kind of tolerant scorn for all non-Marines. At least that was the 20th century Marine.
The best compliment one Marine gives to another traditionally is the simple phrase, "He was a good Marine"
Was refers to back at whatever time there was mutual time served on duty, not that a good Marine ever stops being a Marine.

You have not seen much of the world if they dont scare you. Reality is not like movies. There is no one coming to tell you to fight. That is the decision you have to make yourself, and it is the hardest decision one can make.
How do you tell when not to follow the rules? When they come and tell you what car you can drive? When they come and take your guns away? When they come and tell you you are not allowed to work anymore? There is no major hit that tells you it is time to fight. It slowly graduates down into a pile of shit.
Look at china, they dont come and pick up people telling them that they will be executed. They pick them up telling them they will be back in a day and dont need to take clothes with them therefore. Before they shoot them in the back of the head.

These types of individuals are the lesser of the bunch. They see it going down before it occurs. But as for the general population what you say is obviously very true! And usually it's those who were the supporters of such systems that were always the first to be marked as dissidences, and in some historical cases the first to be exterminated. Because those are usually the first ones to cry bloody murder the day they wake up and realize the hell they created for themselves due to their blind support of it Those systems of governance will not tolerate those individuals. I agree. Although I prefer the expression, 'grow strong'... Or 'grow stronger'... So when we are feeling weak (everyone does sometimes) we can feel inspired, not as though we are behind. :)
Every living thing is weak, fragile and vulnerable (it's all relative), that doesn't mean helpless or hopeless.
Please remind yourself and others of that, when you or they feel weak.

Common sense can be used to look at the information your eyes are providing you.
This whole covid thing was originally presented as the great plague to wipe mankind of the earth. The claims of it living in surfaces for a week and it being so lethal, etc.
It was supposed to be ebola on steroids.
Reality is very different. While we had little information in the beginning, the evidence in front of everyone should have been enough to say the tactics of scaring the whole world into submission should have been called on the carpet and stopped immediately. A few preventative measures like washing your hands would have been plenty.
Now that more truth is eeking its way out we are now hearing 6 get was a number someone guessed with no evidence to support it. And make weren't the end all be all of a solution, etc.
People should have had the common sense to say "i wasn't too see my family dying in the hospital" without the everyone losing their mind. All the bs nonsense should have been stopped by looking at the evidence in front of their face and used some common sense and called the bullshit for what it was.

Well said! I have cut ties to several people over the last 4 years due to them exhibiting this type of behavior and thought process. It saddens me how you think you know someone for over 30yrs and then bam, there on the nonsensical train barreling towards a hateful lifestyle and yet between the media and politricks they justify this mindset. a rule-keeper and another who questions what is going on......it is separating all of us into the two camps.
And I have been wondering, "why are they not questioning - why are they just going along with all of this?"
Well, you answered it perfectly. REALLY enjoyed this - it was so revealing, and right on! Thank you!!

  • @MollyGrue1

Very true what you said. Sometimes rule and authority lovers are deeply disturbed people who have suffered abuse during childhood. Its the normal thing for them to submit - even to unjust and totalitarian rules. Its a horrible thing to see how violence and abuse this way is passed on over generations and forms a whole society of people who do not dare to question rules. May be thats why totalitarian states always try to get hold of the children a.s.a.p. But these rule lovers not necessarily damage others by purpose.
Other people are just sadistic against weaker ones and obedient to stronger entities.
My "favourite" are the ones who point at others to get them punished.
Heard of neighbours here in Germany who called the police to finish a childrens' birthday party (illegal in C-times, mind!) or a round of card playing elders ... or even folks who met for a walk somewhere outside.
Have some nice neighbours here myself in the house where I live. Although the flat is MINE the staircase & stuff are common property. You have a worker reparing something, making noise? you left a box somewhere? You held a door open too long because you had something heavy to transport? These guys call you out for breaking a rule. They take fotos and send it to house admin just for the fun of it. They would have jews transported away or have you punished for saying the wrong thing when it became "law", too. They are full of hatred I do not know why. They would love to hold the gun. These are the worst, and the lowest sort of human beast I know.

The last 15 months have been a hard lesson it's taken me too long to learn. I'm horrified at how supine and accepting so many are- there are people I thought I knew well, after 50 years of growing up together and staying friends, who say that we should stay locked down for another year, accept tracking and vaccine passports and wear masks and socially distance more or less for ever. I've realised that these are the people who would see 'deviants' like me locked up if the government said it was necessary. Many people will do questionable things, often subconsciously, if having received instruction/permission from a 'legit" authority. Example: The Milgram Shock Experiment. Im kinda old and I've had a rough life, but one of the perks is that I've had a unique perspective as it pertains to the social, body politic and how people manufacture justification to run cons. You can say that unfortunately I've had to deal with not so good people and even decent people often at their worst having been green lit. So I agree completely with your reference to the rule enforcers and how folks will gravitate to doing state bidding for self preservation.
