I'm not a Barbie collector, although I do have plenty of them in my home, but I still thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. I've thought about starting a collection of my own, but honestly, once I get going with a collection, I cannot stop (it's a problem!).
I would suggest waiting until your American Girl collection is complete! I still buy a lot of PC/AG, but it's mostly for fun and to rotate things out. I have almost every American Girl item I want (other than upgrading). Barbie is a way bigger beast, and it is SO overwhelming when you're starting out. Trying to actively collect both Barbie and American Girl at the same time is a lot to take on haha. Barbie is really fun though! If you do it, definitely pick a small little section of an era to focus on. I was doing a lot better when I was only focused on 80's skipper LOL
Found your channel by accident but so happy I did . I have a large archived vintage barbie collection. Plus all the early structures. As a barbie collector I have accumulated a large amount extras that need a home that will appreciate them and not just sell them . I'm happy to trade boxlots of clothes for dolls
Wow! Your videos are always so informative and precise. You are like an encyclopedia brought to life when it comes to these doll brands. I just watched a 30 minute Barbie documentary and you summed up all the nostalgic, important stuff in just under 5 or 6 minutes.😊
i love how when u were talking about the 60's skipper you were like "but id thought id show her to you really quick because... she looks terrible." 😂😂😂 i laughed so hard.
I am a Barbie collector I like to collect the vintage 1970s to 1990s Barbies and I normally collect them in the box. I have 75 in the box in my collection right now and I have eight out of the box that are very well known Barbies I have a Barbie channel as well if anybody wants to see it but yeah I love this video. It’s so cool I love seeing what everybody else clicks because everybody else has their own way of collecting Barbies. It just makes me so happy.❤
I keep telling myself I'm not gonna collect Barbie cause I don't have room (which is the truth) but it's really hard not to get back into them and this definitely isn't helping- yours look super pretty!
Thank you so much! Once I bought my first Barbie, it was over haha. I feel like I’ve gotten soooo much in such a short amount of time. It’s very addictive!
Yes!!! I’ve gotta get a better one! Mine kinda sucks lol. I’m reeeeally dying for TH Skipper and Courtney. I’ll prob never get a good deal on them, so I’ll have to fork over the cash eventually 🤑
I'm not a Barbie collect, but I loved this video! Loved the face of your first Mod Era Barbie. Also, feel free to talk no stop about your Ken collection. Can't wait to see how your 60s and 70s collection grows! Favorite part of the video.
Your plan worked-another subscriber😂 Mod era clothing is so amazing-the most high fashion pieces Barbie ever wore💓 I mainly collect early superstar but jump on mod items when I find them for a good price.
Subscribed! So showing the Barbie’s worked!!! Have collected since the 1970s when I was a kid. And kept them pristine since late 80s. Loved your video.
Fun Collection, My older sisters got my aunt's "hand-me downs" vintage Barbies which ended up with me! LOL My passion is Vintage Ken. Thanks for sharing, Great Video! Big Hugs from Salt Lake City!
Great collection to get you started. I love vintage Kens too. I think I have about 6. Funny when I was a kid my cousins gave me their Barbies from the ‘60’s. I had the new Malibu and thought the old ones were so ugly…..gave them away, could kick my child self now….
Thanks! There’s always something we look back on and wish we’d kept. That’s just the life of a collector I guess hehe. The Malibu era is still really cool and sought after at least! I definitely plan on getting them 😃
You're off to a great start collecting vintage Barbie...I share your love of the #1 Ken. As boy dolls go, nothing compares to the early 60's fashions...I' m so jealous that you have "Masquerade", one of my grails (along with the Barbie and Skipper companions). And your lemon swirl is tdf. Congrats!
Thanks! I definitely plan to get just about everything they made for Ken in the 60's - it's all SO GOOD. The Masquerade set is so weird and cool, I hope you get it one day! I can't believe I got the lemon swirl for the price I did - I was so paranoid she was gonna show up and be a repro 😅
I am a life time collector of Barbie - I have mine from my childhood mostly 60's to mid 70's. Be careful when buying Barbie because in your excitement you may buy some crap and get scammed, especially now as loads of scammers are selling right now because of the movie hype. If you frequent garage sales and thrift stores you can luck out and get some awesome finds for next to nothing. You do have a great start to your collection. I hope you have loads of fun collecting.
I ❤️ love Barbie 1959 to 1970 (1973?). And Special Barbies 😊 Enjoyed your video. Love to see the enthusiasm of a fellow collector. And we are all unique in our collecting. I collect quite a few things. But they give me joy 🥰
I own Mego Sonny Bono and Cher Bono since I was a little girl since 1975 when they came out , I bought recently a 2nd Cher Bono Mego 1975 doll in a wedding dress for $7.00 in a vintage store
I treated my AG dolls as the most precious possessions, but I absolutely beat the shit out of my Barbies 😂 My favorite was rollerblade Barbie, I spent a lot of time trying to catch things on fire with rollerblade sparks. And I had babysitter Skipper! I was obsessed with babysitting. There are also really cool Babysitters Club dolls from the 90s that I've been looking out for. They were surprisingly well made and fully articulated with bands. You night like this anecdote - I used to pretend Kristy was a gymnast, I was also obsessed with the 96 Olympic gymnasts, so she was a gymnast.
Hahahahahah 🤣 Barbie got NO RESPECT. If they aren't NIB, they're completely trashed. I wanted that rollerblade Barbie SOOO BAD. I had to settle for a Zippo lighter which was basically the same thing. I absolutely will be getting every BSC doll in existence. I loved those books so much, and all the dolls they made were so cool!
I love your Kens, Alan, and outfits. I love your Stacey too! I totally agree with you about the Mod outfits! That is my favorite era for Barbie. The loose legs on your talking Barbie are pretty common for the mod era talking dolls.
I totally forgot American Girl was pleasant company!!! I love your collection and will be watching more vids! Obviously not a doll collector, just a woman who used to be a child who loved American Girl.
I love your channel Johnny!!!! I'm a Barbie collector but I also collect AG, Bratz and Funko pops. I'm on the same boat where I have to let go of some of my items because it's too much.
I collect vintage Barbie’s. My guideline is 59-72. 1972 the very first reproduction ponytail barbie came out but I still consider her an original vintage.
Hi Jonny. Nice Barbie collection! Your number five Barbie is so pretty and I love mod Stacey. I have loved Barbie my whole life. I only have a small collection now. Twist N Turn Barbie with the Steffie face mold is my favourite. 💕
I wouldnt say I am a Barbie collector (yet,) although I do have four barbies and Im very proud of all of them. My mom got rid of all my Barbie dolls in the fifth grade and I will never forget the sadness I felt when I went looking for them all only to find out they were gone. I have a Justin Bieber doll from my JB phase, two barbies my fiancee bought for me last year, and just today, I bought the barbie with down syndrome! I think I will mostly wait until my AG collection is complete then I will collect Barbie starting with diversity dolls such as those with disabilities to start out. Ill probably eventually get a pregnant midge and an earring magic ken if possible because. 😅 how could one resist those beauties!
Love that I found your channel. I am from Puerto Rico and lots of Barbie collectors here. I purchased a big fat coloring book with 100 stickers and I tried to find it again to purchase for my granddaughter last year and on Amazon the price went up to 300$. I’m trying to find Dawn Barbies I had several and were stolen from me
I collect Barbies and I mostly collect the 60's through the 90's. I have my childhood dolls and build around those. I love to thrift Barbies and restore them. I especially love making them new clothes that resemble the originals. I would say just collect what you love. Don't think you have to get one of everything just because. Just buy the ones that you really love. There are just too many unless you have endless space. I hope once you are moved and settled and get some of these dolls like you want them I hope you will come back and do some more Barbie videos. I love watching The Doll's Witness. He has amazing Barbie videos. And please please more Ken. Yes! We love Ken and his fashions.
I love hearing about your Barbies....love the 60/70's and then late 80/90's My first love was Barbie as a kid and then when my daughter was a kid .....but then I found Pleasant Company ! I love them all!!! What do you mean when you say AA in this video when referring to certain dolls?
Mattel should totally bring back the 1960s barbies alongside the margot robbie barbies, although it'll probably be sold out as soon as they launch especially since the barbie movie was such a hit in the box office :)
Cool video really nice collection. I watched like one Barbie collection video and now my whole feed is filled with Barbie collector vids but I love it lol. I wish there were videos like this for Star Wars the Black Series action figures I used to collect those but I never saw a video where the collector talks and holds up the figures. I’m so glad your Barbies are out of the box I’m so sick of seeing Barbie collectors with everything in the box because what’s the point? You want to take them out of the box to display and enjoy them. I hope you keep collecting Barbies and get clothes for them and make videos of them they look so fun to collect
60s barbie clothes are usually pricey so I bought sewing patterns from the time and made my own to save a bit. I hope to get a real fit someday though.
I love the original Barbie! I received the dark haired pony tail Barbie for Christmas in 1961, She is still in great shape except that her face has the sticky vinyl face. I was heart broken when I took her out of storage and saw that her face was sticky! I do have some of the "collector" Barbies that were the rage about 20 years ago. I also have Midge, Ken and Allen, Speaking of Ken, I also have 'Cock Ring Ken" . I can't remember who gave him to me but at the time he was quit the rage in the Barbie collecting community!
That’s so awesome! I feel like there are so few people that still have their original Barbie’s from the 60s. I believe there are ways to fix the sticky face, so she could probably be restored! I definitely get tempted by the collector dolls because most of them are so well made and you get to see the dolls how they originally were
My first Barbie was a blonde Bubble Cut with the red swimsuit. I had a nice collection with her and all her friends and great clothes and the cardboard house too. Gave them to my sister when I turned 15 or so and they disappeared from there 🥲
Yeah I love Barbies I've been collecting them for years now and I would love to learn how to get them back in shape like when they where new they have been stored away for a few years
I love barbie I have her from the 50th too 80s era.I have Old 1970s Mego dolls too.All Ideal growing hair dolls.I have alot of Celebrity dolls too. That Mattel and Mego and Ideal and kenner and Hasbro made.Great video Take Care Best Paul from Chicago
Congratulations and thanks a lot for your Barbie tour. You have some truly beautiful treasures in your collection. The quality up to the MOD era is stunning and we have never seen anything like it except perhaps Fashion Avenue form around the 90s was a great attempt. I think reproductions are beautiful in their very own right and I am not afraid to put a vintage fashion on a repro doll or repro fashion on a vintage doll.
Thank you so much! I really love high quality fashions, which is why I've fallen in love with the earliest stuff. I still love the nostalgia of the stuff from the 80's and 90's the most, but everything up through Mod era is SOOOO gorgeous and good quality!
Santa brought me the Ken on Stage doll in 1971. What a shame I didn't keep it. Well, I was 5 years old at the time. Then, in my 20s, I got the Shaving Fun Ken. =-)
One of my dolls has green ears I got her for five dollars at a thrift store. She's a 1960's Barbie. I never thought of fixing it! Thanks! Now I gotta go look at some videos! 😀
I’m not a *huge* Barbie collector, but I collect a good amount of 60s dolls and I own original Ken, Allan and Skipper :D I got Skipper at a thrift store for 15 dollars, one of my best finds!!! Skipper and Allan were already in beautiful condition, but I had to repair Ken somewhat. I got have Skipper and Ken in modern Barbie clothes rn cuz i don’t own many 60s Barbie clothes and I hate leaving them naked LOL
I use the repro Barbies to model the vintage outfits. 1959 thru 1970. My first Barbie was a number 3 in 1963: I am 71 years old. I love Ken too, the first one. I had him as a child My goal is to collect all the outfits from the booklet.
Wonderful collection of the Skipper dolls. It took me back watching them in the commercials. Also, if it was me, I would leave the price tag on the box. It looks more original from that time, especially if the price tag says K-B Toy store or Toys R'US.
This was fun! Your lemon swirl looks so pretty. I got sad when you talked about your brunette 1961 flocked Ken because I sold him during a moving downsizing panic a few years ago and he was PERFECT, original box too.😢 I recently bought an 80s Glitter Beach Skipper. I have a variety of this era of Skipper and Courtney. My favorite Skipper is Mermaid with the Sea Twins (1993).
For some reason there was a manufacturing error made in Ken with regards to his left arm. Most original Kens left arm is loose. Try wrapping plumber’s white vinyl tape around the joint to keep it stable. Won’t harm the doll at all.
Yeah, I don't see the price of vintage outfits going down anytime soon... I have collected Barbie for awhile, honestly, I was a little miffed when I heard about a movie coming out. I knew that would drive the price way up for people who have been collecting for a long time, because with a movie always comes a slew of new collectors. But I have over 400 Barbie's from the 60s, so maybe driving the price up is a good thing, so I won't buy anymore, LOL! It started out with I will just buy one of each doll, you know, one number 3... well, I had a brunette, then I found a blonde one, well, I need a blonde one too. Then I figured out that some had brown eye shadow and some hade blue... so then I needed #3 with blonde and brown hair that each had the different eye makeup. Then I found second one with brown and convinced myself I needed it to model early outfits, since my collections of outfits were growing. Never the less just for Barbie 1959 to 1969, I counted a year ago, I was at 443... I would like to say I haven't added any, but that would be a lie! LOL! It is stupid addictive!
I think your blond #4 is a #3 or at least partially. Her head has "orange" skin tone from unfaded #3. I say she is probably partially a #3 because the body looks also unfaded but her legs seems to be darker, just like some #4 legs. So she can be transitionnal, because mattel was often mixing parts of the dolls during production. I used to have unfaded #3 ponytails. Their skin tone is more orange, less pink than the #4. Also their face paint is usually more dramatic, with darker eyebrows. On mines I noticed on their joints where the vinyl was touching: like inside the arm sockets or the butt in seating position, it was usually faded to pale ivory. I am jealous tho, cause I would like to get again a #4 and #3 , but presently they are so pricey :( I should do a little video of my collection, my Barbie collection is very small like maybe 15 dolls. I own some clothes too. My collection is very specific like for example I own a #2 ponytail, so I tried to found all the early TM fashions from 1959. I am missing just one. But yes my collection is very niche, but that's what I love ❤️ I started collecting vintage maybe now 10 years ago, it started randomly, a true disease xD
Depending on what year I think the other owner did the braid I never saw in the 70's late 60's mod Barbies come with a braid they were always straight hair
Your shrunken head Barbie reminds me of the times I pulled a Barbie’s head off and the neck piece broke, so I just jammed the head back onto the stump.
I Just started collecting Barbie. After getting rid of almost all my 90s sailor moon stuff. I’m also not spending a lot though. The most expensive was totally hair Barbie 25th anniversary a few nights ago I had a few cocktails and the next day I received several notifications from eBay. So I believe I placed several orders I should have about 7 more 90s Barbie’s coming in this weekend 🥂💒🤷🏼♀️👩🏻🦳💕😅
I just started collecting Barbies, but the only ones I am really interested in are the Gold Label Fashion Model Silkstone dolls which are terribly expensive. I have 2 so far and plan on buying at least another two girl dolls and a couple of ken dolls. My wallet is crying but I love them so much.
sweet collection!! i have a pet pals courtney in a separate pet pals fashion (really cute, it's purple with a cat and lace sleeves!) but while washing her hair her head came off and the plug fell in!! D: i was able to fish the plug out luckily but i'm totally at a loss for how to fix that, but that's just a side note lol. i'm definitely in a similar spot about needing to figure out how to better refine my collection but i wish you the best!! not gonna lie, i'm immensely jealous over your magic earring ken!!! i'm sure i'll find him someday though
Poor Courtney! It's not too difficult to fix if her neck didn't break. I'm working on re-heading a few of my skippers, and that's the hardest part. I got my Earring Magic Ken for a good deal! Every once in a while he'll pop up for cheap. I got a good deal because mine was missing one of the child size earrings, but totally not a big deal!
@@idreamofjonny I had 2 double cases to hold all the clothes, shoes..I had a Francine, I had a Hi-Heidi and Hi-Jan dolls I used them as Barbie’s kids…Heidi and Jan had a button on their stomachs that would move their right arm up in the air like they wet signaling hi…
Found your video doing a search for Mod Barbie - like you, it was before I was born, but I fell in love with the fashions and faces. Your Talking Barbie doll - the braid is not original. She would have come with her hair tied in the side ponytail, with three ribbons - top, middle & bottom. Somebody at some time has braided her hair since she left the factory. I've been collecting since the late 90s and have never heard of an NRFB doll bein found with a braid.
Oh my goodness, I’m cracking up! We have the first Ken with dark flocked hair, and his arm constantly popped out! So we’d dress him then shove his arm into his shirt or sweater! We eventually lost that arm. At some point I heard that it was an issue with lots of Ken dolls. 🤪
It's fun playing with Barbies and collecting
60s-90s is probably the best out there imo.
I'm not a Barbie collector, although I do have plenty of them in my home, but I still thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. I've thought about starting a collection of my own, but honestly, once I get going with a collection, I cannot stop (it's a problem!).

The 60s outfits can be more expensive and HTF than the dolls. From a fellow UK 1959-1972 collector :)
Wow! Your videos are always so informative and precise. You are like an encyclopedia brought to life when it comes to these doll brands. I just watched a 30 minute Barbie documentary and you summed up all the nostalgic, important stuff in just under 5 or 6 minutes.😊
Aw thanks! Me being able to do a thing concisely is a challenge 🤣 I love watching your videos too!
i love how when u were talking about the 60's skipper you were like "but id thought id show her to you really quick because... she looks terrible." 😂😂😂 i laughed so hard.
I love watching new Barbie collectors find joy in collecting the brand.

Yes!!! I’ve gotta get a better one! Mine kinda sucks lol. I’m reeeeally dying for TH Skipper and Courtney. I’ll prob never get a good deal on them, so I’ll have to fork over the cash eventually 🤑
I use shampoo and conditioner on most of my Barbies, both kanekalon and saran. I haven’t had any bad experiences. They always look better after it.
Beautiful collection. I love that you love Ken. Definitely don’t apologize for taking too long on Ken. I think it’s fantastic!
I'm not a Barbie collect, but I loved this video! Loved the face of your first Mod Era Barbie. Also, feel free to talk no stop about your Ken collection. Can't wait to see how your 60s and 70s collection grows! Favorite part of the video.
Thanks so much! Ken will probably get his own video once I get closer to completing his 60s collection. 60s and Mod era are so interesting and cool!
Loved the video! Collecting Barbie is my main focus but my collection exploded in all kinds of directions!

"she looked like someone took a milk frother to her head" that's the best way of describing doll hair tangle I've heard.
lol but you did a good job on her bangs!
I own Mego Sonny Bono and Cher Bono since I was a little girl since 1975 when they came out , I bought recently a 2nd Cher Bono Mego 1975 doll in a wedding dress for $7.00 in a vintage store

Thank you so much! Barbie is really fun to collect, but it can get overwhelming sometimes. I’m struggling to focus!
Omg amazing collection!! I started getting into barbie a few months ago and am thinking of maybe starting one myself💕💕 yours is amazing
Fair warning - it’s very addictive and seemingly endless!
I love skipper doll ya have
I collect vintage Barbie’s. My guideline is 59-72. 1972 the very first reproduction ponytail barbie came out but I still consider her an original vintage.
Those are really good years to collect! It’s crazy that some reproductions are vintage now 🤯
I am a Barbie and friends Serious Collector ! I have too many to count! I enjoy your ENTHUSIASM!
You have a wonderful collection. ❤ I would love to see how you “rehab” your Barbies.
Camp Fun Slipper I have along with Barbie , Ken , Midge , Teresa they are so cute
Congrats! You have a very nice collection! And in very nice condition! ❤🎉
Hi Jonny. Nice Barbie collection! Your number five Barbie is so pretty and I love mod Stacey. I have loved Barbie my whole life. I only have a small collection now. Twist N Turn Barbie with the Steffie face mold is my favourite. 💕
Thank you! The TNT Barbie is at the top of my wishlist right now! She is soooo beautiful and I lover her outfit 😍

The vintage American girl boxes in the back oh my god.. I’ve missed that aesthetic of AG 🥺
I love hearing about your Barbies....love the 60/70's and then late 80/90's My first love was Barbie as a kid and then when my daughter was a kid .....but then I found Pleasant Company ! I love them all!!! What do you mean when you say AA in this video when referring to certain dolls?
Barbie is so great! AA is short for African American, which is a term commonly used for deep-skinned dolls in this era
Mattel should totally bring back the 1960s barbies alongside the margot robbie barbies, although it'll probably be sold out as soon as they launch especially since the barbie movie was such a hit in the box office :)
The Talking Barbie with the side braid came originally with the braid. My wife's aunt received one just like yours as a chid, which has the braid.

Gave them to my sister when I turned 15 or so and they disappeared from there 🥲
We couldn't afford the Barbie house back in the 60's, so my talented mom made a Barbie house, out of wood for us. 😊
Your channel name! As a Jeanie fan, I approve!
One of my dolls has green ears I got her for five dollars at a thrift store. She's a 1960's Barbie. I never thought of fixing it! Thanks! Now I gotta go look at some videos! 😀
Wow that’s an incredible deal! I hope you can fix her!
I love Ken sad his arm is Flippy
Hi I have a bunch of Barbies since I was a little girl and now
Love the flocked hair ken!!!! I have a flocked hair Todd. I have the earring ken some where, but i found his vest recently and it is deteriorated.
Great collection!! ❤
One question. Do you like/watch a thousand splendid dolls on TH-cam? ❤
Thank you! I do - I love their videos!
I have a 3 pack Barbie Skipper Stacie Christmas set
I use the repro Barbies to model the vintage outfits. 1959 thru 1970. My first Barbie was a number 3 in 1963: I am 71 years old. I love Ken too, the first one. I had him as a child My goal is to collect all the outfits from the booklet.
I rebought the Cool Tops Courtney. Also I have my First Barbie, the one with the white and pink dress. My original was a Peruvian version.
Wonderful collection of the Skipper dolls. It took me back watching them in the commercials. Also, if it was me, I would leave the price tag on the box. It looks more original from that time, especially if the price tag says K-B Toy store or Toys R'US.
Thank you so much! I'm definitely gonna leave them, especially if they don't cover the dolls hehe
Thank you for sharing your Barbies collection, I really enjoyed the video ✨🌈♥️
The Barbie Clothes from the 60's were exquisitely made in Japan.
Good luck with the green ear, I hear it can be fixed. I love your #4, but that swirl is beautiful!
I’m so jealous of your vintage 60s one
For some reason there was a manufacturing error made in Ken with regards to his left arm. Most original Kens left arm is loose. Try wrapping plumber’s white vinyl tape around the joint to keep it stable. Won’t harm the doll at all.
Mod era is my absolute favorite. I wouldnt mind to have a bunch of mod repros! I dont know why they dont do more
love the skippers
Thank you! I care about 'Ken' and would love for you to do a whole video on Ken. I was born in 1962 so I can connect with them from my childhood.
My rule for my Barbie collection is...whatever I like! I have things from all the different eras.
I was so made about the movie as well!! I collect 80's and 90's barbies. You're right, they are stupid addictive, lol 😅. I'm sitting at 600+ barbies!
Awe in my recommendations, I too collect barbies been for a while not an expert yet but would like to be just subscribed.
I am jealous tho, cause I would like to get again a #4 and #3 , but presently they are so pricey
:(
I should do a little video of my collection, my Barbie collection is very small like maybe 15 dolls. I own some clothes too. My collection is very specific like for example I own a #2 ponytail, so I tried to found all the early TM fashions from 1959. I am missing just one. But yes my collection is very niche, but that's what I love ❤️
I started collecting vintage maybe now 10 years ago, it started randomly, a true disease xD
Depending on what year I think the other owner did the braid I never saw in the 70's late 60's mod Barbies come with a braid they were always straight hair
Omg you are probably my age because I remember all of those From my childhood as Well 😆
Elder Millennials unite!!
@@idreamofjonny yes 😂
Your shrunken head Barbie reminds me of the times I pulled a Barbie’s head off and the neck piece broke, so I just jammed the head back onto the stump.
Nice show.
Skipper in rehab pile LMAO Thiis is so fun. I keep losing the shoes though....
You dolls are very pretty.
Try going to swap meets or estate sales. You can find Barbie cases full of dolls and clothing for supper cheap
OK so we had the exact same skippers growing up lol
Check for date on back of her head
@@idreamofjonny awe sweet!!!
i care about ken, it interests me a lot because I don't usually see many videos or images of kens from the 60s. ❤
My first Barbie was a mod one with brunette hair…I got her for my 7th birthday….my last Barbie was a Malibu one…
I LOVE mod Barbie so much! How awesome!
Haha that’s pretty much what I do! It does make him easier to dress but the second I touch him, his arm falls out 🤣
not a fan of keeping things in box but that rewind makes sense coz it'll be hard to make it look stable as a vhs if u remove the plastic etc
I think you called her "cool crip Skipper". 😂
I wish I had Kevin
